The thing I love most about the original Tron movie was the way the effects of when he's in the game look. I'm sure you know the back story of why the effects have that crazy look to them. I think if you could duplicate that look and not have such a sanatized look to them it would enhance the game. Just my 2 cents.

Quoted from o-din:

What happened after the light cycles?

You'll have to rent the movie to find out. Spend all that money to see the movie and you didn't watch it. I've never done that.

Quoted from Darcy:

Bench seat cars have their advantages.

I always found the back seat had more room.

Quoted from labnip:

using the 1:5 tall figures, where the head is 1/5 of the height, these look like adults in uniform.

I like these better and UV paint would make them look great, just like in the movie.

#170 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

Maybe could get some super bright black-light LED's and position them around key playfield items/surfaces/toys ?

Art at Comet said the UV 7 and 3, 6.3v led strips are about 6-8 weeks out so there ya go.

#178 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

That MCP could be an interesting bash toy & ball lock collector on the playfield
imagine having strands of strobing EL wire lights in him.

Screen Shot 2014-11-02 at 12.49.... 698 KB

Yah know what else would be cool for the MCP....remember a few years back I think it was Arbys that had a 3D cup where there was something printed on the cup then there was an outer plastic sleeve on the outside with something else printed on it and when you turned it it looked like the image was moving. I wonder if you could do the same thing like that with the MCP, have the outside sleeve spinning and the inside major plastic just slowly turn from side to side about a 3rd of a turn. Does all this make sense?

Quoted from labnip:

you just made my entire Sunday !!!

Your very welcome.........now do I get a free game when they come out. If you could incorporate those strips (hidden) into the game some how to light up reactive toys or artwork that would be way cool.

How about a Secret South Park Jewbilee Moses mode? Maybe a DMD animation with Moses saying "I desire popcorn necklaces" or something....

Only if it has the bum, ba bum, bum bummmmm, TRON! speech in it.

That wasn't in the original movie....so no.

#187 9 years ago

The bit. "YES"...."NO". Gotta have it in the game.

That was fun. Thanks.

#199 9 years ago

There is sooooo much that could be done with this pin it boggles the mind.

Quoted from CaptainNeo:

again this a flawed poll.
What about the option
I would buy if the price was right and after I played it to see if it was worth a shit.

A valid point.

Quoted from labnip:

think we should include a blacklight Tron Rug with Preorder ?

That would be cool but I already have fishies , sea weed and coral. Who's bl carpet is that? I like it.

Who leaked our super secret business plan ?!?!?

I think you did just now. Nice charts and graphics too.

#239 9 years ago
Quoted from Darcy:

This means that you should get yourself a copy of The Day The Earth Stood Still. You may also need more time to enjoy vintage sci-fi films.

Yes you really should watch it, one of THE best sci-fi films ever made. I watch it an average of once a year.

ok...
now what does this mean ?

Quoted from labnip:

That's not Klingon is it?

No way, just some shapes they adorned the set with to make it look hi-tech.

#246 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

hey, this one looks like it has a "Recognizer" as one of the letters

Sure does and good luck hunting wabbits.

#258 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

anyone ever figure out what the "0 1 7 2" stood for, centered here on the wall ?
it also shows up on the EDOT control panel inside the cabinet.
just guessing, but could it mean January 1972, maybe someone who was involved in the movie or the animation who's kid was born that month/year ?

light-cycles-0172-1.png 676 KB

no idea.

No pictures come up on my screen. File sizes say 14kb, 16kb and so on. All really small but for the last one which is 840kb but still no pict. on that one.

#282 9 years ago

Having fun I take it. What's with that Tron figure?

2 weeks later
#293 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

Yeah, Tron Prequel pinball could really happen. I want to see if there's enough demand to do it.
I'd need to sell probably 500-1000+.
Primary reason for those quantities is covering P3 cost, staff dev cost, software & hardware iterative R&D costs, parts molding costs, parts production & pin manufacturing cost, license cost, prototype pin creation costs, and travel/shipping & attendance at some shows & other advertising cost. Lots of 3rd parties involved.

Getting advance payment for pins would help fund it as i'm not sitting around with a few mill to invest myself and the existing investor community is truly oblivious to this market. And... this isn't a big return on investment type of project If I could get advanced funding, I could focus 100% on it, but without that, it would be a part-time project.

I haven't finished a pricing model for it yet as i'm still working on quantity of software & art production needed digitally (on the playfield monitor), and design of upper playfield & lower playfield sides. Those factors really cause a lot of variability at the moment. Still early in requirements phase.

For dates, I'm trying to use several months of polling as a proxy for a segment of demand, which helps with sizing potential quantity of final sales. Design, Develop, Community Feedback, ReDesign, QA, & Manufacturing could easily run about 2+ years. Primarily looking at PPS for MMR, they are over 1 year since announcement and manufacturing hasn't begun yet. And, that is for a game that is completely designed and licensed already.

hope that helps.

and don't forget about having lots and lots and LOTS of replacement plastic parts, cab and bb decals and translites.

Here's tip, I bought my bl carpet from Joy and I saved $100 by picking it up from the trucking company warehouse in my city where Joy shipped it to. Just ask the company your buying it from.

#316 9 years ago

Well whatever you release you better have deep pockets to even get the first game out. Just sayin.
