I personally don't use them. A bit of tape on the bit is enough for me, I'm not worried about slipping and going too far.

I would personally go with clear. Even though the colored ones are the right color, they dont let any light through, so they will look like darker bands around the EL wire, I would think.

Good job! Your el wire is nice and smooth and straight.
I've seen so many pics of Tron where the owner didn't take the time to install it carefully, and the el wire looks all curvy and wavy. It kills the effect for me.
Again, great job. There are much fewer variations in your EL wire than I've seen in others.
Some of them reminded me of droopy christmas lights, but yours are nice and tight/straight.
