Quoted from flashburn:

I just got the two dress-up kits for my Pro, but I'm having an issue figuring out how to install the Recognizer plastics.
It's really frustrating how Pinbits always seems to lack when it comes to instructions.
So, the orange plastic has four holes in it, but I don't see any way to get the Recognizer off of the original plastic to attach to the new one (it doesn't seem to be screwed on, but has some plastic tabs). Also should the two plastics be connected into each other so they are flat?
edit: Pam was super quick to PM me with instructions on these parts, and also said that they would update the instructions for this mod and any others I had issues with! Good customer service.

Can you add a pic with it all fitted please.

Sure, but Pinbits has some pretty high res shots of their kit installed on an LE on their site.

Ok cool but are there's on a machine? No problem I'll check it out.

Neatly connect all of your mods to power using the FTS-8 instead of a splitter connected to a splitter connected to a splitter.

Available at dkpinball.com or include it with other stuff on pinballlife.com

New! There are now dual-color button light kits available in blue / orange for TRON (or what ever else is a STERN that looks good that way). See Pinball Life web site. Supplies are limited for the moment.

Here's a few pics of one I'm doing for a customer . I've added cliffies to the ramp and shooter eject. I added the elli fiber optic kit ( a must have mod trust me ) ,LEDs from comet pinball , mantis protector on the scoop , led added to the recognizer , all clear rubbers , aftermarket pop bumper caps and am waiting on a color dmd . I agree if you want to mod this game be prepared to open your wallet .

I'm working on a game for a friend and have begun modding it. I had the game powder coated gold and installed mirrors and a shaker. Up next is LEDs, backbox mod, backboard and trough lights, undercabinet and a few more things. I'll post more pics as I progress. Very cool game and I wish I owned one.

I'm not a big modder, but I've put some into Tron. I just finished putting in the Redshift lighted ramps, and I had to unplug my Flynn sign. Is there a splitter or another way to tap into the power to have them both going? I assume so, since most Trons I see have far more mods than mine.

#75 6 years ago

How hard was it to put in the Lighted ramps?I have the kit, but it looks like a ton of work, have to remove the ramps according to the instructions. I just Wasn't intending to have to take the game apart.

Not hard at all, but I've pulled a lot of ramps over the years. There's nothing difficult with these though. You will need to undo a handful of connectors underneath and only a few screws. Make sure to mark your connectors so you can easily reconnect afterwards. In under 10 minutes you can have both ramps off.

I was never happy with how the OEM Tron pops looked and how the LED's which are on most of the time just shine blindingly with no covers. I used Data East Blue Wide caps available from Marco. Underneath I used a 1/4 inch plus an 1/8th inch spacer and then attached with 1 inch #4 screws. To get the spacers to stay in place I used a bit of spray adhesive. I'm really happy with how these turned out.

Hi!

I will start to work in some very professional (I think) custom pinball cards for this pinball. If someone have ideas or opinions about how they will be designed or elements that must be showed, I will like to read it and collect.

I think I willl spend on them a pair of weeks, but there are always time for new designings.

We can speak here about designing (even I listen other ideas for mods) or in my fan pinside´s thread. Cards will be showed there because forum´s rules. This is my thread (I like to show them here too, but it is not possible):

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/restored-and-customized-pinball-artworks-showroom-thread-by-mikonos

Thanks in advance for your interest and cooperation!

Regards

I started a restoration, well clear coat, on a customer's tron. Noticed this broken Cement transistor. Is the is common, game seemed to play at fine. Just resolder?

Quoted from Djshakes:

Yeah, just resolder it. The disc will spin a little faster once you do. It's a parallel/series combination of resistors that is normally (5 || 5) + (5 || 5) = 5 ohms. Why go to all that trouble to just get the same resistance? This way it will handle more power without the resistors getting too hot.

With that one broken loose, you have 5 + (5 || 5) = 7.5 ohms. This lets less current through to the disc motor, so it will run slower.

#82 4 years ago

So maybe less noise from the motor?
A solution if the motor is too noisy?

#83 4 years ago

herg is the man! Geez, I love learning stuff like this!

#84 4 years ago

Fix the cap and play it for a while. The noise is a non issue when you get into the game. Love that disc whipping the ball. Tron is pure JOY!

Why would you need an LED OCD board on a Tron LE? The LED OCD board helps with standard socket type LEDS and flicker. Do you see flicker with your insert LEDS or maybe you have flicker in your GI? I can see this helping with the PRO but not the LE which has board type LEDS in the inserts.

Tron LE was one of the first games to use the serial controlled insert lights, and they hadn't quite gotten it figured out yet. It IS very flickery compared to today's games. Unfortunately, LED OCD isn't compatible, and without access to a game to develop with, I really can't work on an alternative.

Name of place that did these was gamestencils.com but I don’t think they are in business anymore. I might have a few extra sets. I always buy multiple. But I’d have to find them. I’ll look tomorrow and let you know. Ant.
