Hey all,

I just had a weird glitch occur on my Tron LE while playing a three-player game last night. While I was playing, the game would go into the end of ball sequence and start counting out bonus while my ball was still clearly in play! It didn't hapen to either of my buddies (admittedly I have much longer ball times than they do, so it could have just been a "matter of time" kinda thing.) This has never happened before, and the machine is in immaculate shape short of this one weirdness. I checked all four ball trough sensors, and all reported back good, but it seems as though something in the game is sending a false "end of ball" request to the MPU.

Anyone have an idea here?

Thanks!

Yep. Typical symptom of trough opto problem.

Unplug the connector to the trough boards. Plug it back in. Make sure it's secure. Same deal on my Tron Pro about 3 weeks after I unboxed it, and someone else's LE that I know of. Causes same thing as a dead opto because the CPU can't see the switches.

Agreed, but the weird thing is that all of the switches (the three hard switches and the one opto) all pass the switch test. Bizzarre.

It was, in fact, the opto boards. Since they're so cheap, I replaced them both. No issue thus far.

Thanks folks!
