I live in Chattanooga. A lot to do and see in this area. If you are into history, the battlefields of Lookout Mt and Chickamauga are a must see. The views from the Lookiut on a clear day are beautiful. Chickamauga has been preserved exactly the way it was. There is an audio tour that you can take from your car. It is a sprawling several square miles area. It also has one of the largest gun collections in the world - Fuller gun collection. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60770-d105137-r427241779-Chickamauga_and_Chattanooga_National_Military_Park-Fort_Oglethorpe_Georgia.html
A lot of outdoor activities - if you into caving some of the best in the country - http://www.raccoonmountain.com. If you are even more adventurous tandom hang gliding off the backside of Lookout is a bucket list activity. There are really good water boat activities on the river and the downtown has two world class aquariums on the waterfront with lots of terrific restaurants nearby. A micro brew culture is also growing. Two of my favorite - just beer, not TV, etc. is Hutton and Smith and Odd Story.
