Just wondering if there are plans for trick or treating in your area? I live about 40 miles NW of Chicago and had seen on the news there will be no trick or treating. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I used to have costume parties almost every year with 100-150 people. Everyone had a blast! Since then I have moved to a smaller house and have no room but still have the memories.

Yes, it is an actual coffin that I used for a cooler. Forgot how many cases of beer, but ALOT!

    #3 3 years ago

No Halloween, too many people will refuse to wear the mask.

    #4 3 years ago

    And actual blackface?

    Classy

    #5 3 years ago

Not an 'actual' coffin but made hiding one of the 3 fog machines we had pretty easy.

Sadly, sold it a few years ago when we downsized homes.

I asked the local kids (Northwest NJ), they said they will be out this Halloween. Not entirely sure if that is accurate or wishful thinking. Seeing as how it is a fairly reduced holiday these days comparted to our youth, remains to be seen what participation happens.

On the years that I've been home, I don't usually get anyone. Most of my neighbors haven't gotten anyone in years either.

Most people seem to gather at the malls, at the schools, or other community gathering spots or various parties. I think that was the result of a safety effort 20 years ago to try to stop all the kids from wandering all over the streets (and possibly getting hit by cars), and get them into areas that could be monitored or closed off from traffic.

I doubt any of those activities will happen this year. I also doubt there will be anyone going around door to door around here either.

I wasn't really planning on doing anything this year. Maybe just some movies or videochat or multiplayer gaming activities or some combination of the three.

I get 100+ at my house every year. Haven't seen anything from local authorities about it so far.

    #9 3 years ago

Over 40yrs of decking out the house and yard to make it the spookiest house in the area. It's down to about 150 kids now. This will be the 1st year I'm not going to bother.. not expecting a lot of parents having the kids out and about cause of covid...too much effort for a likely dismal showing... hopefully next year.

It has become a billion dollar holiday, it will be back!

    #11 3 years ago

I will be handing out chocolate candy like I do every year (only the good stuff), so you and your kids are welcome to stop by my house.

    #12 3 years ago

My area died after the Tylenol scare. I don't even decorate any more.

It was my favorite holiday. Put up decorations. The kids in costumes looked great. Hand out lots of candy. And no relatives. The perfect holiday.

No trick or treating allowed in Los Angeles, though I've already heard people planning to go anyways. People are tired of the lockdowns and no one is scared anymore.

    #16 3 years ago

Usually carve around 20 pumpkins but not looking good this year

    #17 3 years ago

We typically get a couple hundred kids trick-or-treating, but I'm curious what will happen this year. I'm not feeling great about being face to face with that many people so I doubt we will participate. We already told our kids that they could just pick some candy at the store and they seem to be OK with it.

    #18 3 years ago

Provided I’m not symptomatic in 45 days my lights will be on. Won’t be buying as many treats this year.

Maybe next year everyone will try to outdo themselves more than usual as a celebration of getting back to normal.

I had the tricks out last year and had planned to expand on that this year, but guess that won't be happening:

I miss that. I used to carve three big ones and three small ones. The top of one of the big ones I'd score the bottom with a knife and rub nutmeg and cinnamon into the pumpkin flesh. When the pumpkin was burning it smelled like pumpkin pie in here.

Wow. We buy enough candy for that many, spend tones of time getting everything halloweeny and then like 12 kids show up
Living on a court I guess.

I live in a kooky island community that likes to celebrate, so normally a local street is closed and everyone has a yard party for Halloween and there is a non stop mob of trick or treaters from all over (and open container is legal year-round).

It's GA and many locals (not me) are back in the bars like things are normal so I assume this year will be the same, but unfortunately our daily new case rate is still high, so I will see how things are doing in 50 days.

I will probably only take a stroll down the street while keeping a safe distance this year and enjoy a few beverages and skip the parties and handing out candy.

my Fortnite pumpkin at last years party:

One of my favorite places to visit, despite not having been in a few years. My grandparents lived on 8th st. near St. Michael's church for 40+ years.

I missed the swastikas too. It's alarming how many people can look at that photo of someone in blackface with monkey ears and not be alarmed. How many hours has this thread been going?

White guy in black face with monkey ears still here. Gryszzz's posts all gone.

Bring in the cats, turn off the lights. Same every year.

Looks like op is scared of Grizz. He removed his location from his avatar. Why would you post those photos of some old white guy in blackface and monkey ears with Obama name tags all over his suit? More importantly, was that you? Despicable.

As for my Halloween, we usually get 300 to 400 trick or treaters. Kids get bussed into our neighborhood because it’s such a cool place to gather. Fourth of July is similar. It’s a lot of fun. Not sure what this year will be like but I will certainly buy candy and hand it out wearing a mask if kids come.

    #46 3 years ago

No that wasn’t me. Sorry about the photo if anyone took offense. Those were the winners. I also have a costume contest with prizes at the end of the night.

We've been over this a million times. The pinball demographic is simply decades behind the times.

One guy installed swatztika pop bumper caps on his Indiana Jones "for history" and very few people thought there was anything odd about it. How will we remember WW2 if people don't have swatztikas all over their games?!

So if a white person wears an actual Obama mask, is he racist?
Or is it just poking fun of the head of our government much like the satire of SNL and their portrayal of the current pres?
I mean there are other presidential masks too.
