Here we go again. I picked up a 1979 Tri Zone off the FB marketplace yesterday. Overall its in decent shape but has some things to address. The PF is above average , the backglass is good with just a few bare spots, the cab is good with a few spots to fix but the bottom needs replaced. The machine powers up to attract mode kind of, lots of bulbs out.

Someone added an arcade button on the front to add credits instead of just setting it to freeplay. The coin mechs are gone so I guess this was the best way address this.

It appears that it had some water damage in the front corner and rotted that bottom corner. And what do ya do when that happens? You add an entire metal plate to the bottom of the cab covering everything up including the speaker.

On this project i will be replacing the cab bottom and fixing some random spots, repainting and stenciling, new displays and just an overall good shop job.

Quoted from zacaj:

There's a free play setting in the adjustments, so no physical changes are needed

Yeah i know. This is just something that i will need to fix on the cab. And the wiring because all of the wiring has been cut from the coin door for the most part.

Started tearing down the cab yesterday. Repairing the bottom with a new panel and trim. New speaker, repair the wiring and install new coin mechs. Repair dings and a few holes.

Here is the full skid plate. There were about 8 bolts per side and 3 in the front holding this heavy metal plate on. All those holes will be fixed. Once i got that off you could really see the damage that was done by water or whatever.

Got a good picture of some petrified gum holding the bottom together.

I cut around the edge of the bottom to pull the old out to install new.
