"See something say something" is probably the best way to ensure pin safety - I don't remember seeing anyone being particularly aggressive at NWPAS last year but I appreciated the number of volunteers/floor staff, because it really made it feel like a community event.
Also, it wasn't at a show but I remember sitting down at a barcade to have a beer and watching two players slowly walk a Ghostbusters across the floor with all the slide-saving. I can't imagine slide-saving is particularly dangerous for the machine (they do it all the time on PAPA), but it was funny watching it wiggle gradually towards the other end of the room.
