Quoted from gismo31:

thanks i've just ordered one now the slingshot....
i'll make some more pictures of the lack ramp tomorrow

please do take some more detailed pictures & from different angles of that ramp as it is certainly interesting , kinda wondering if someone made that or had it made? I'm sure someone can help with a scan of slingshot plastics , I could take some pics for you but I don't really have that good of camera

Hi guys, could someone please confirm the pinout for J7 on the Backbox Interconnect Board. I am looking through the schematics, but I only see the following;

Pin 7 - WHT-GRN
Pin 8 - WHT-BRN
Pin 9 - GRN
Pin 10 - BRN

I have a RED and ORANGE that are not accounted for. This is for a 10 pin header connector. I have an old photo that shows PIN 5 as ORG and PIN 6 as RED but this machine has had a few hacks so I'd like to confirm this is correct before crimping up a new header.

hi i also need some help : the non controlled lights on the right side don't work anymore... under the slingshot it's ok but not in the space ship nor the other right ones.flasher in space ship is ok .
furthermore the milllion switch stopped working also... thanks alot

#154 5 years ago

In addition to the header pinout I need some help with these two areas.

1) Is this the correct rubber placement for these 4 star posts?

20170807_173838 (resized).jpg

2) Are these the correct rubbers for the X area? It seems really odd to me that a flower pot rubber and a super duper thick rubber post would be used on either side of this.

20170805_213953 (resized).jpg

Thanks again.

#155 5 years ago

[EDIT] Please ignore post #154. Using photos others have taken I was able to discover the answers to my questions.

I still need assistance with post #152. Thank you.

It does... a bit. You have two red wires on your J7. Pin 6 appears to be the stock wiring, but pin 10 in your photo doesn't look factory. I'm guessing this is where the brown should be. Looks like your J7 and J6 have been replaced/repaired before. Your J9 looks a little bit weird too. No male header on the PCB?

Thanks you for posting!

Does anyone know the rubber sizes for the areas circled below? The manual I pulled down from IPDB is not clear. Thank you!

i've received the 3d file from TecumsehPlissken ( thanks ! ) and asked proto labs for a price . the can make 25 ramps for approx 3600 euro in Synthene PRC 1708 ( Surface: Outside glossy/ inside technical (partial glossy) or all surfaces matt/bead blast ,
Color: Transparent; ) need to add sending costs to usa thought ... do you think this is a good material ? price ?

That is $170 without shipping, which let's say is will take it up to 200.

If the quality and specs are good, I would be willing to take one at that price. Have you dealt with them before, or have any idea as to the quality of their work?

no first time. i'm waiting to see a friend who has a 3d printer to get this price.

no map . i've received only this.

I still appreciate it. I should be able to figure it out now. I wonder where the 1 1/4" goes? That one isn't even listed in the manual.

[EDIT] Using the sizes off the bag you ordered from bestofpinball.de I tried a few of the rings in different spots around the playfield. I tried a 1 1/2" rubber around C. It fit, but it was sloppy and I didn't think it fit snuggly enough. I replaced it with a 1 1/4" I hand in my tool kit and this to me was perfect.

The 2" fit the slingshots.

I put a 1 1/2" around the two star post above the right pop bumper (I mislabeled it 1 3/4").

The 3/4" I placed between the 2 pop bumpers on the left. The 2nd 3/4" rubber is supposed to fit on the two star post just below the left most rollover switch at the top, but there's no way 3/4" will fit there. I measured the old crusty one that was originally installed and it measured 1". Here's where I think everything should go and the proper sizing;

transporter rubber (resized).png

The 2 1/2" rings I believe will be too smooshy. 2" in these locations will be a better fit.

TTR crossover ramp update.
This morning I received this e-mail from Rick (PPS)

Dean … fyi we are working on getting the tool run, so will probably later this year, but we have a way to get the ramps done.

Rick

I replied with "Sweet! That sounds great Rick! Mind if I am the pinside leaker of that info? Thank you for keeping this ramp in mind. I think this news would really put some smiles on some faces. Dean

He replied that I could leak this, so here you go....

Rick's already promised to make this part. And then stated the mold was broken and fixing it would drive the price so high that it wouldn't make it profitable unless we could get at least 100 people.

I'd appreciate if those involved kept moving forward on getting this thing built independently of Rick and PPS. I respect the work Rick does, but lots of PPS promises don't come to fruition.

I'll support whichever process produces the best final product in a timely manner.

Yes I know. That was probably about a year ago. It was very disappointing to hear at the time. Rick now has apparently found a way to overcome those problems and produce the ramp in the not so distant future. The e-mail I posted is all I have for info.

#174 5 years ago

Well, we've shipped the ramp tool (what was left of it) to a pinball guy who does injection tooling (and has a Transporter game) out of where it was, and we should be able to get the cost down so we can run it. There are missing parts, but the important part - the cavity is good. Anyone thinking making low volume pinball complex pinball parts are easy contact me and I can give you alot of projects!

I say we continue to find an alternative source for this. Hilton is spot on with this.

#176 5 years ago

maybe we should put this on the back burner and let the alternative source supply this.

#177 5 years ago

Let me get this straight. The guy who has the original mould for this ramp happens upon this situation. "a pinball guy who does injection tooling (and has a Transporter game)"
Now you guys talked him out of pursuing that in lieu of another possible avenue that may or may not materialize? I freaking give up.

#178 5 years ago

Whoa! Don't give up just yet.
While I'm not sure of the motive behind the disparaging posts, I'll bet there are more of us that want a ramp than just those who talk about it here.

#179 5 years ago
Quoted from PPS:

I hope you can get it done, it would be good for you AND the community in need.

OK Transporter: The Rescue Club.
With the e-mail info that I got from Rick yesterday, and seeing how things played out as the day went on, I called Rick this morning to talk about this ramp. He is going to be doing a run of this ramp with the original production mould. So what really changed from about a year ago when the mould needed 9000.00 worth of work and made this a non starter? The mould is now in the possession of an injection mould tooling specialist that works with Rick on other pinball projects as well. He happens to have a TTR as luck would have it. All of this good fortune has made it affordable to get the mould producing ramps! I am just glad that Rick kept this project in the back of his mind and found a way to make a go of it when he could.

Now several of us have looked into alternative ways to get this ramp made, because it looked like there would be no other way. I have been in touch Methos and TecumsehPlissken. We all agree that the PPS reproduction ramps would be the way to go and are worth waiting for. I imagine that would beg the question, "when will the ramps be available?" There is not a specific time deadline right now, but I can tell you that the process has already begun to get the mould ready. I am going to say ROUGHLY 6-8 months, but will come back here and give updates on that whenever I have new info. Rick told me to call him in about 6 weeks to check on progress.

#181 5 years ago

its me, i have the mold and the pinball. working on it now. waiting for materials to show up and its next in my lineup.
I can post a couple pics later as i progress so you all can appreciate how complex a project like this is.
the core and cavity plates are intact but the rest of the mold assembly is missing. I will be re creating the mold with no existing blue prints
to reference off of. to build something like this from scratch would be in the neighborhood of $30 to $40k so this is defiantly
the way to go.

This is awesome news. pin-pimp is not new to reproducing sorely needed injection molded ramps and I am very confident he will get this done!

The community thanks you!

Thanks to you Dean and PPS for resurrecting this project back. Obviously having a new ramp from the original mold is the way to go. I was originally hesitant due to the condition of the mold reported some time ago, but it seems that isn't the case anymore.

I ask that we all rally behind PPS and Pin Pimp ( ) going forward. I'm officially down for 2, maybe even 3 copies of it just "cause".

The old "taking my ball and going home" attitude. Awesome. Not the first time we've seen this sort of attitude tear it's ugly head. I won't persue this further, at risk that you'll ACTUALLY shut this project down out of spite.

I'm glad pin-pimp has all the necessary things to get this project done properly...mad props for taking it on. I'll be following closely. I'm still in 100% to buy once complete.

If anyone has difficulty getting parts out to people who need them, they can count on Retro Refurbs for help.

Happy to assist the "alternative source" if needs be.

No one will shut us down.

Are you the collector who purchased my Transporter along with Gilligans a long time ago? You were possibly making Gilligans plastic also?

Started to reverse engineering the missing mold components into CAD today and pulling numbers off the cnc. Here is couple pics of the tooling so you can see how complex a project like this is.
Materials ordered and should be here this week.

Yes pinbum it was me. This is why I needed that pin. Thanks!

#192 5 years ago

No doubt that is some serious tooling that you are doing there. How many plates like that will you need to machine? Just from the pics though, that cavity looks like it is in amazing condition. What a find!

Glad to hear your making these, now i just need to find another Transporter.

#194 5 years ago

Sweet. Thanks for sharing this image. While we're talking about ramps, does anyone know where to get the other ramp in this game? The one that goes up to ALPHA and BETA in the ship? Part number?

#195 5 years ago

Awesome update!

#196 5 years ago

the mold is missing, hot side clamp plate, ejector side back plate, both ejector plates, ejector box and support rails and all of the ejector pins and support posts. everything will all be machined and surface ground to fit existing specs. ejector location, bolt hols, etc. Yes lucky thing here is the core/cavity plates are intact and good condition. we will run this mold locally so not much wait time after completion to get parts.

Clear!! most of us already have nicotine yellow

#198 5 years ago

yes the old poly carbonate material did yellow over time but the new translucent yellow would look much better, and or clear.

#199 5 years ago

Has anyone tried a Salon40 bath on the yellowing to see if it helps remove the yellowing?

yellowed UN Orion ships

Check out the yellowed plastic's thread. A little peroxide and oxyclean and you'll have them white as rice again.
