Quoted from packie1:Hello All:
Curious if this is on all Transporters. While cleaning the playfield, I noticed that the top credit line is actually applied on top of the PF. Curious why that is.

Yes this is discussed early on in this thread, I think the prototype playfields are different, but I assume Kmiec got pissed he wasn't credited.
Mine is the same.
In the club. Can't wait to start playing this. It has Rev 1 roms installed (proto with LA1 overtop). I see there's L-3 for game and L-2 for sound. Looks like info is sparse. Are there any good, documented changes worth getting the latest ROM set?
Thanks.
Regarding the flipper coils. Which is correct? The machine started out with lower left as 11629, lower right as 11630 and upper right as 11630.
Quoted from dmacy:Regarding the flipper coils. Which is correct? The machine started out with lower left as 11629, lower right as 11630 and upper right as 11630.
According to the manual they are all 11630’s.
Quoted from Silverballer:Still looking to join this club.
i just picked one up im gonna let go.
Just picked up a transporter and going to completely restore it, sending the playfield off to Las Vegas Playfields. I am looking around for cabinet decals but it looks like the only cabinet decals available from pinballdecalseu do not have the bally logo? Can anyone recommend these or should I wait and see if Planetary will do a run?

His name is Joe Pastucci he has made several sets of cabinet decals for Transporter , for me as well as others on here .... his contact info is [email protected]

I have the same question. Mine also has L1 roms.
For you other guys with later roms, do your “2x playfield” and “3x playfield” inserts light during Multiball?
They don’t seem to actually 2x or 3x too much on my game. The 1m shot is still 1m. (Instead of 2m or 3m). Maybe pop hits score 300 instead of 100. Lol.

Just swapped out what I think were the original roms (labeled LA 1, and SL 1 for sound) with brand new roms from Matt's basement arcade (CPU Rom Set vL-3). Both sets of roms seemed to behave the same with respect to the 2x/3x lights and values. Within 5 seconds of starting multiball, I triggered the 'beam me up bally' and hit the x-cellerator target for only 1M. The 2x/3x did light up but 3x started flashing pretty quick and faded.
Would love to give some feedback to Soren for potential rom upgrades, but I have only had my game for a month or so - still learning it.
I grabbed a new set of both from Matt as well. Just haven't had time to install yet. I'll play a few baseline games on the old before swapping to see if anything stands out.
One subtle difference observed on vL-3 roms - when you collect the x-cellerator jackpot, a male voice says "transport, transport!"
We just finished a shop job for our transporter and are having a few issues we can hopefully get some help with here
First issue is the upper flipper, now after being put back together has a lot of slop in it when flipping. This game had a lot of stuff in it that was seemingly thrown in an non original hardware wise. So wondering if we are possibly missing something to guide the flipper properly to keep it tight on the upper PF or anywhere else above the linkage?
Second issue is our scoop deflector was missing when we took everything off. So after not being able to find the correct one and a few failed sized purchases from marco we just put a post there and hoped it would work enough (It didn't). Any idea what the correct fitting one is and where we could purchase it?
Thank you!
Gonna be tough to find that scoop, you're probably going to have to make it. Mine was missing gates and wire forms and I had to fabricate replacements.
The upper flipper actually needs a bit of slop, I had to give mine more play to get the shot right. Does your flipper shaft have the groove for an e clip? Mine did not, so was easier to adjust.
Mine doesn't have a guide for the upper flipper through the mini playfield. I think ZooDude is right that there is some slop - you need that because if you had two flipper bushings and they weren't perfectly aligned, the flipper would bind. Also, there should be a groove in the flipper shaft with an e-clip that rests on top of the flipper bushing coming out of the main playfield. I have a couple spare flippers and this groove isn't present. That keeps the flipper from dropping down and scuffing the mini playfield.
You may have to fabricate that scoop. Kerry Stair at Mantis might be able to make something for it? Most of the other scoops from other games probably aren't high enough for this location since they kick out to the main playfield and not up to a higher playfield like Transporter.
Quoted from vbobrusev:Hi! Who ordered full set for transporter from me here or on eBay and still need this missing part, which wasn’t included in this set, can get it just for shipping. If you need that part, send me your order information in dm.

Do you still have plastic sets available?
In need of a replacement backbox glass retainer for my Transporter. Part # 03-8230-1. It is the 27 1/16" retainer. Used on Elvira and Truck stop as well. Let me know if you have one.

Just dropping in to say how awesome the Transporter jackpot is. It's just challenging enough so you aren't going to get it every game, and totally satisfying when you do get it. The sound and light show is pretty stellar.
Only complaint is the scoring. When the score resets, 500k for that jackpot is just offensive. It should start at 2m or so minimum seeing that the transporter jackpot is 1m.
I'd claim the game will never leave my house but let's not jinx it.
Fellow Transporter owners - I need some help dialing in my game (which I recently put back together after having boards serviced and doing a topside teardown).
Everything is working 100% but when 2 balls are locked in the Orion, and I make a ramp shot with Ball 3, the third ball just sits on top of the already-locked ball in the Orion in position 1. It seems like maybe the ball is hopping the microswitch at the top of the ramp which would, presumably, tell the game to re-arrange the balls. The microswitch at the top of the ramp checks out in switch test mode.
Has anyone run into this? Sorry if it's already been covered in this thread...

After replacing ramps my game was doing this. Try glass off testing it. I ended up using a new switch cause the factory actuator was a little short.
This is a random request, but could somebody post a picture of the knocker on their Transporter? Mine is MIA.

Mine was missing too. Pretty sure i got this assembly from marco (Knocker assembly kit Williams/Bally)

Well hows the condition?
Quoted from gorgar007:Well hows the condition?
Pretty darn nice really, thanks for asking. It was in the same house since 1997. Typical "needs a shop out condition" But really a nice example. Very little PF wear by the pop bumpers and no cab fade that I can tell! Battery box is toast with light corrosion on 2 terminals, but no acid damage on the MPU from the 2010 dated Energizers.

Hello Transporter owners.
Is it possible for one to take a picture of inside the
cabinet front section. I need the start button information.
1) Start switch screw length...
2) Yellow plastic start button
2a) length.
2b) internal spring/no internal spring. etc.
Many thanks and much kindly appreciated.

Excellent!
Question, does the yellow flipper button/start button have a spring inside
the housing, does it not have a spring inside the housing?
Quoted from gorgar007:Yellow flipper button with a leaf switch here
Red flipper button with a leaf switch here. LOL I hadn't noticed that until I went out to take a pic of it this morning and thought it was a hack. If it is what they used, I would use one with a spring in it.
Quoted from vec-tor:Excellent!

If there was a spring its failed. No spring action here.
Looks just like the flipper buttons but those do have some spring
Quoted from blubboman:So my Transporter has a flipper button substituted for a start button. But my Atlantis has the proper button which is like all the Sys11 start buttons. See pics
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Odd note:
Transport is the only Bally system 11 that used a flipper start button.
The game is low production and reused remaining cabinetry from Truck Stop.
All other Bally/Williams system 11 games from this era would use the common
start button that Williams employed into their cabinetry.

THANK YOU gorgar007.
Thanks to all Transporter owners for helping me clarify
somebodies hack cabinet repair.
I am trully thankful.
Hah! Super interesting on the flipper button as a start button. Thought that had to be a hack since all my other stuff close to the Transporter production year has that different button. It may just be springing off the leaf switch.
Quoted from blubboman:It may just be springing off the leaf switch.
That was interesting about TTR using a flipper button for a start button. I changed out my red flipper button (which was the long threaded button so it was a hack anyway) with a yellow, shorter one and no spring because I had one. The leaf switch is indeed all the spring that is needed.

Where did you find that vec-tor
Quoted from dozer1:Where did you find that vec-tor
Part of it was talking to the guys at Bally/Williams
back in 1980's, and part of it is going through the primary parts catalog.
Bally/Williams was going through a set of new designers...
Some only got to do one or two games before they where let go.
I decided to sell my Transporter, if anyone is looking for one and can pickup near Seattle, WA:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-transporter-the-rescue-18#post-6940882
Quoted from gipinball:No red post there. There’s a small metal “L” shaped piece there.
I can confirm that.
Here's a pic from my game and a few from the TTR manual showing no star post there.
Quoted from gipinball:No red post there. There’s a small metal “L” shaped piece there.

Same here - mine has the L bracket. Could only guess why the red post was added.
Thanks All:
I found the "L" in the bag with the gate. Not sure why the red post was in the bag with the ramp.
Moving on.
