I have a CBW with a blown transistor Q22 12N10L (100v, 12A). I have replacement transistor TIP102 (100v, 8A)...can I use this? It's for a flasher bulb. Thanks!

Does it look like it will fit? Replacement is offered here: https://www.thepinballwizard.net/index.php?p=product&id=515

I do not believe you can use a TIP102. The one at the link above is the one you want.

TIP 102 will absolutely not work.

A Darlington power Transistor operates quite differently than a Field Effect Transistor. Then there is the N junction vs. P Junction consideration that I did not bother to check in this case.

12N10L is a logic level N-channel MOSFET, while TIP102 is a bipolar NPN darlington. Not compatible even though the current/voltage ratings are about the same.

You can replace the 12N10L with IRL530 or IRL540.

Quoted from Tuukka:

TIP102 is a bipolar NPN darlington.

One site I looked at had 35 different TIP102 data sheets. https://www.alldatasheet.com/view.jsp?Searchword=TIP102

How do you tell which one the OP is referring to? Are all TIP102 even in the same package?

To add to Tuukka's list -- you can also use the currently made 13N10L MOSFETs.

To YeOldPinPlaer --
All TIP102's are pretty much equal. But a TIP102 is a totally different animal from the N-Channel MOSFET that the OP wanted to replace (12N10L).
