Quoted from Looprunner:Joined the club this weekend. Fantastic game! Has anyone made a good sound package for this game in the past?

Quoted from JMitchell147:Sorry, didn't get back into this thread for a few days.
Your last pics gave me a good idea of what you are looking at. Unfortunately mine is an LE and the ramp sits a bit different. The ramp isn't connected to the guides, but mine doesn't have holes for the posts you put in. The guides look the same as yours further up, just the front piece looks different. Sorry, this probably doesn't help much but hopefully a bit. I have more pics of the area if needed, but not sure they'll help.
Thanks. I think I've got a pretty good sense of what's going on there now. I'll probably worry more about it later if/when I do a full topside teardown.
Hey everyone, got some time to work on my machines, and wanted to finally install my Cliffy set for the LE. Can anyone who has personally done it on this title, help me identify where a couple of pieces go please?
Megatron, All Spark, and two of the three shooter lane protectors, I know where they go. Any tips/suggestions of what others ran into, would be greatly appreciated.
Started a separate topic, as a search didn’t bring up results covering this. Thanks in advance!

On the Megatron scoop, I would cut the cliffy where the ball drops in from the rear.
I did that on mine. I wish cliffy made it that way from the start, but it is what it is.
The small 3 edge square goes in the all spark kick out.

Agree. The cliffy for the megatron scoop caused ball hangups on the back side where the ball falls in from the backside. The ball just doesnt have the momentum to make it over the cliffy.
I tried layers of mylar to ramp up over it. But nothing worked. I just cut that part out and solved the problem. The backside will not have protection. But trade off for no ball hangups is worth it.

Like you said, that ball isn't rolling fast enough to hop over the cliffy, I doubt with how slow it rolls that it will cause any damage. Especially, when you consider that it's in a home environment.
Quoted from SterlingRush:So cut this side out? Just verifying.
I appreciate the tips.

When you have the Magatron opened up for the cliffy, you'll see exactly where it needs to be cut. I'll see if I can grab a photo of mine later.

I appreciate it, thank you. Hoping to carve out a few hours tomorrow to do this, clean and replace rubbers while I’m in there.
Quoted from SterlingRush:I appreciate it, thank you. Hoping to carve out a few hours tomorrow to do this, clean and replace rubbers while I’m in there.
I don't think it will take that long.
There isn't that many rubbers in the game. The cliffy's go on quickly.
I would clean back in that area too while you have things off the game.
Well, managed to get Cliffys in for Megatron and All Spark areas, still working on cleaning and replacing the rubbers. I’ll have to find another day to finish, so disregard in pics below
For future reference, with the suggestions above, this is what I did for the Megatron Cliffy. I did set it in there first to examine and mark my cut points, and noticed right away, the Cliffy would be bending upward, right where the ball would want to drop in on the backside. So definitely a no go for leaving it as is.
Marked my points, got out my Dremel and workbench vise, and finished with a light filing of the cut edges, so that it wouldn’t mar the playfield once installed.
Also before installing, I placed Hard As Nails clear onto the exposed wood, to help protect from future damage.

TF LE combo:
Biggest one, WTF was Stern thinking, with stacking plastics, with 2-3 loose spacers in between, held together by one screw/bolt, and no easy way to get/grab any of it for removal or installing? Right ramp feed out of the mini playfield for example. I wanted to get further on this tonight, but realizing I’m not in the mind set to deal with that sh*t storm.
So main questions, what are the best ways to remove the ramp, mini playfield, and plastics on the right side?
Also, best way to remove or get under Starscream, top left corner?
Any other hurdles to worry about, when trying to clean and re-rubber?
Out of the list of machines I’ve worked on, this one has become the biggest pain in the ass to figure out. I have to be missing something, just not seeing it right now.
Thank you to any and all for advice and suggestions. Just not finding much info, of others dealing with these headaches on this machine.

Starscream is a bitch. It has a set screw all the way on the left side. In order to really get to it, you need to lift the back of the playfield up. He will pop right off….then setting the set screw again sucks.
Have a brand new official Stern Transformers LE update kit for sale. I don’t think theses are available anymore.
This is to prevent air balls from Megatron drop target and some other things. (See pics)
$50 plus $10 to ship in the US.
Pm if interested.

Any good method for propping up the rear playfield? Doesn’t look like there’s good spots to place a 2x4, either standing up or laying across the cabinet edges. Unfortunately, I don’t have a table or workbench to put this on at the moment, or I’d look at removing it from the cabinet.

Lift the rear of the playfield with the left hand and use an Allen wrench with the right hand.
It’s easy to do.
Once the rear is lifted, it’s very easy access.
Have a pair of small pliers handy incase you need to get more torque on it.

There’s my adventure with starscream.
I really miss this game, would love to own it again one day.
Speaking of starscream. Has anyone found a G1 replacement figure that fits appropriately. I have a mashup of movie and G1 modded into my combo.

I think it’s just a software glitch.
Quoted from Trekkie1978:I think it’s just a software glitch.
After I replaced the switches it never did it again, and I played the crap out of it until it sold.
Quoted from Kawydud:Tackled putting new decals on my game a couple weeks ago. Had the original wrinkled artwork. Stern sent me new replacement decals under warranty.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Did they come bent or anything?
I tried ordering decals before from them and they are damaged when I get them.
Quoted from Kawydud:The decals I received from Stern were packaged very nice, no damage at all.
Maybe they improved on it.
Did you put the decals on with the game upright?
I had some extra decals i got from someone on the interwebs but i was chicken shit to install them. I probably should have just done it. But i ended up just including them when i sold the game
Quoted from Trekkie1978:Maybe they improved on it.

Yeah, just took the legs off and did it on the lift. I do vinyl graphics as a side business, so this was pretty simple. The new decals actually have all of the holes punched for the cabinet holes. Made the alignment very simple.
Quoted from Sarge:Not in front of my game, but a nagging question...Is there a setting to turn the blinking GI feature off? Absolutely hate it, so much so that I can't get anything done at work until I find an answer.!
Is there a way to ensure that the relay does not change state? I can't take the blinky GI. It's infuriating...
Hi everyone, i just purchased a TFLE combo, im going to install speaker light kit, color dmd, just wondering what other great mods are available for this machine.

All depending on what you want to do, if you want to install mirror blades or art blades, Pinwoofer speaker kit, Cliffy protectors, ect...lots of things to look at for options.
Are any of them really needed? Maybe the Cliffys, anything else is dealer’s choice.
With help of others in this thread, I modified the Cliffy for the Megatron hole, pics and walkthrough posted on this page or previous.
Here’s my thread regarding mirror blades, had to replace the set that was previously in there.

I’m a huge fan of the Color LED, but as always, it’s everyone’s preference.
I am getting balls stuck in the Ironside playfield. It goes up the ramp but is not draining down the side ramps. have to wait for the machine to look for balls and then the door will open. Anyone have a fix for this?

If I remember there is a switch on the ramp or at the entrance that opens the gate when its hit. Is that switch engaging when the ball goes up the ramp? I had to adjust mine because it wasnt hitting and the same thing would happen that you describe, would just go up there and be trapped.

That’s exactly what is happening. Did you adjust the gate or the switch?

Fixed it. There was an arm switch that had come loose. Thanks for the help.

It’s a Matt McKee topper, you’ll have to Google for more info.
OK, going back to removing Starscream from playfield, please tell me there’s a different lock screw to undo vs the one just below him. Possibly the two below the playfield?
I snapped my bit off in the screw, trying to loosen it up. I went on to other things, figured I’d revisit it later, and see what I can do to remove it. The dang thing was so freaking tight.
Side note: Those playfield jacks being sold, are awesome for getting the back playfield up and out. Much easier to work in the back areas now.

The threads have lock tight in them. I put my soldering iron on the screw for a few seconds to release it with the heat and it came right out. If you look back in the thread I describe my battle with removing star scream.

Thank you, I saw there was some locktite on it, went real slow adding some pressure as I turned, didn’t think it was the bit giving away, lol. I didn’t even think about heating it up first. I’ll have to go back and refresh myself on that part of the thread.
When I revisit this, I’ll have my iron handy, then figure out what I’ll use to remove the screw. Bad part, there’s not even a nub to grab on that broken bit, so probably have to search out a new lock screw, as I’m sure the outer threads will get mangled during removal.
Good news is, it’s fixable, no major loss, just pain from my face palm....and ego.

Get a set of Allen wrenches too.
Quoted from Trekkie1978:Get a set of Allen wrenches too.
lol, got plenty of those, that’s what I tried first, then decided to go with something that had a handle, thinking I wouldn’t break that....
Set screw ordered, iron on standby for my next attempt down the road.
