Brought that game upstairs for the seller yesterday. It is in excellent shape.
Quoted from attyrhodes:What's the staying power of this game? My cousin and I are looking to trade out an AIQ for something different, and we both appreciate good deep rules. Not really looking for an easy game like T3, so figured I'd see what y'all thought.
It’s fairly difficult to consistently have a good game on Transformers. If you like a difficult game where you complete shots to start modes, while trying to add multipliers that reset at the end of each ball, you will probably like it a lot. The wizard modes are very difficult to start and the rules in those modes and the path to get there is similar to Tron.
Watch Bowen’s tutorial if you are on the fence. I actually think Infinity Quest is a great game… But, comparing it to a Stern that’s 10 years old and a bit less expensive, does not make sense to me.
Specifically, Transformers of the PRO variety is a guilty pleasure for me. I have mine set up to be very fast and a drain monster. If you don’t know the rules well, you will not break 10 million on it. I don’t plan on selling it anytime soon because it’s the only place that I can play one anywhere near here. Stern made very few Pro machines and it took me four years to locate the right one for me that wasn’t on the other side of the earth.
I’m finally in the damn club! There was only one game I’d drop what I’m doing and drive a couple hours to grab, and this one was it. I’ve wanted a Pro almost since it came out, but it just never worked out. Timing or situation always got in the way. But this time it just came together for me. I’ve always been happy when I found it on location, or in tournaments like Pinburgh. And now it’s mine.
She needs a good shop job. It plays, but it’s a bit dirty and tired. And that doesn’t work for me. I’ll probably play it as is for a couple weeks, and then rip it apart. I’m so excited to finally own this game.

One reason I really wanted a pro… (the one at Pinburgh every year.)
Quoted from Red_Devils:I really hated the plastic apron on my LE Combo, so I had Robert powder coat a metal apron for me, I think it looks killer, so much better than the plastic one. He also did the coin door and shooter housing.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Looks great, although that "off center" between apron and lockbar would fuck around with my ocd-ness
this is the 35th anniversary of the transformers movie (1986) anyone hoping for a G1 transformers game?? I would have love to see one
Could somebody post me his shop out pictures of his pro model please?
Thanks.
Needs also some pictures under the playfield at the megatron Canon assembly because I miss the last 2 screws.
Now that Pinball Life has shipped mine, I can say this
The copy of Transformers (Pro) I recently picked up had some fade. Especially the backboard along the back of the playfield, which was almost white except for the burn marks around where the bulbs used to be incandescent. I wrote to Stern, just on a whim to see if they had that decal kicking around. I knew my odds were between slim and none, but thought I would try anyway. On Monday I received an pleasant email from Pablo at Stern saying that although they didn't have that anymore, Pinball Life did, and he sent me the following link:

I love service like that. He didn't have one to send me, but showed me where I could get exactly what I needed for my game. Now I just need to find a plastics set for it, and then I'll rip the whole game apart. Until then, I'm riding dirty, which is still fun. I'm very happy to have one in the house.
Hello guys,
I have some issues with my Pro model.
Restored it and put it back together but I have 2 wires with connector that are hanging around. See pictures.
Do I need those or are they for LE version?
I'm having problem with my F8 fuses which keep blowing.
In test mode my right EOS switch does not trigger but in game mode it blows Fuse F8.
None of my slingshots work neither the Megatron Jam.
When I test my left slingshot in test mode it also triggers the Megatron Jam.
Thanks.

I don’t have either of those connectors on my Pro. The wire colors seem to be the same as GI on their respective side. But not really sure seeing I don’t have them.
You seem to be having a wiring problem. The way I’d go about it is to trace exactly where and how that right EOS is wired, because you already know it’s wrong. During the restore, when it was going back together, a Z connector got put back 1 pin off. Or it’s one pin off on a non keyed connector. But you have an exact symptom, being that if you trigger the EOS, the fuse blows. What I’m hoping is that as you trace that back, you will run into what is causing all the other problems. So look for wire colors that “change” through connectors. Once you have an exact and reproducible symptom, finding the cause is pretty quick.

The problem with right EOS switch and fuse has been sold.
I have now 2 problems with ghosting switches in the matrix.
Left slingshot triggers also Megatron Jam. Left return lane triggers Megatron lock 1.
Also have a now working Tilt pendulum switch.
Just finished a design for 3D flipper toppers for Transformers. Please see ad if interested in purchasing: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/117843

Just made this set of 3 custom apron magnets for a Transformers owner, and wanted to offer them to the group. Price for the magnet set is $25 including US postage (please PM me if interested in purchasing).
FYI, these are magnetic so you must have a metal apron (I'm not familiar enough with the pin versions to know if some have plastic aprons like the newer Stern pro models).
1 (resized).jpg2 (resized).jpgJust picked up a really filthy Transformers, this is my first modern game, previously my newest was Breakshot.
This thing has been hacked up by some “tech” so I’m looking for help. Can someone post what the inside back of their cabinet looks like? I think this guy pulled wires out of the harness and made his own connections for some bizarre reason.
Also some plastics were broken and GLUED directly to the freaking post so they’re impossible to remove. The EOS switches are broken off the flippers... it’s also got a huge nasty wear trail at the megatron cannon does anyone make decals to cover this? it’s a mess!

How about a playfield swap?
Quoted from Trekkie1978:How about a playfield swap?
There can’t be many NOS playfields for this game floating around.
I figured it would be a pipe dream

I would try contacting Stern. They must have 1 laying around.
Not sure how many people check in here... But I am loving this game. It was never on my radar, but got this modded out one and it's really lots of fun. With the volume cranked and a sub hooked up, it's amazing how it gets the adrenaline pumping
My one issue, which it seems plagues quite a few people, is the Megatron trough.
I was having many games where the third ball locked wasn't recognized, and I found a thread about adding washers. Looked underneath and there were already washers under the top screws( looking at it with the playfield raised). I took them out and same thing..
So I found threads contradicting this with pics of washers under the bottom screws. I am about to try this I case the other guy had it backwards, but thought I'd ask here if anyone has a fix.
I tried using the virtual lock setting and while it totally prevents any issue, it's not as cool when multiball starts and the balls don't all fire out real fast.
Thanks for any advice

I have had this happen numerous times. Seems the molex connector to the trough loosens over time. Try pushing it in tighter. Has worked every time for me.

Thanks, I did that in the beginning and maybe that is what temporarily had it working better. I've been concentrating on the physical position of the mech since reading all that. I will try just that and leave the mech position alone and see what happens.

To get mine working better, I did the washer fix. Worked for a while. Then I took the mech off and hand polished the inside where the balls travel. That made mine work 100% of the time. Only thing I can think of, is maybe I got the metal so clean that the balls were able to travel easily against it.

Thanks, which location did you put the washers in? I just reseated the plugs and it hasn't improved

The closest to the front of the game.
Quoted from yzfguy:Thanks, which location did you put the washers in? I just reseated the plugs and it hasn't improved
Another suggestion. On mine, I found out it needs a good pitch ( faster), to make the optics work good in there. Don’t know why, but, it worked on mine.
Thanks, guys. I have it set nice and steep, I'm gonna try the washers out. Hate to leave it dumbed down with that virtual setting.
** How friggin annoying!
I tried:
-Removing the assembly and cleaning /polishing ball surface. All switches seem fine in edge test.
-washers on front side
-washers on back side
- making the game ridiculously steep.
The thing just does not want to recognize locked ball 2 or 3.
I like the game, and at least the virtual lock is an option, but it's not as cool, and bugs me that I'm missing something every time I get multiball.
I can't wrap my head around what the problem could possibly be
Finally got my Megatron trough dialed in! I did everything above, smoothed out the bottom edge where the ball rolls, and bent the switch actuator up a bit on the lowest switch. Installed it with thinner washers than I was using at first, and it's finally right! So much cooler multiball effect and it doesn't piss me off everytime with a virtual ball lock launch we are really enjoying this game!

I've had mine since new also.(decepticon le) Hasnt gotten old for me. Definitely not easy. My only gripe is you have to finish the modes or do them again. Unless I've been missing a way to shut this feature off.
With the flipper fidelity in mine the sounds are simply amazing in my opinion. I'd take it a step farther and say I enjoy the sounds in this game more so than any game I've ever owned. Imho.

The modes save progress.
Quoted from Trekkie1978:The modes save progress.
Yes, and when you lite them all solid, that means that you have completed that "sides modes" and for Autobots, you qualify "Roll Out" mini wizard mode... for Decepticons, you qualify the "All Hail Megatron" mini wizard mode.
For ALL LIT SOLID, you qualify "Battle for Cybertron" main wizard mode.
Most people that own this game don't even know that you can can play all the modes for both Decepticons and Autobots, no matter what side you pick at the start of the game.

We know… we also know it’s impossible! Or at least at my skill level… I think so.
How hard is this playfield to remove from the cabinet? I have art blades to put on and this playfield is a tight fit.
Quoted from Guinnesstime:This is the only game I ever set on 5-ball. I loved it, but man, it's a long grind.
Nooooo..... Don't do Jersey like that!

Not difficult at all. Just get a friend to help.
If you have a table that’s tall enough set it next to the machine and set right on there. There’s enough wiring so you don’t even need to disconnect anything.
I have art blades on mine and it’s tight but you just have to be more careful when lifting/dropping the playfield.

Why was your strategy to go for that multiball again and again? Not worth it once you light Optimus solid with a super, after the first go around.
Did you set it on 5 ball to try and complete the game, because you liked it so much, or some other reason?
Hey everyone! A friend of mine just brought me a Transformers Pro(ject) to work on
One thing I immediately see: Wow this game is dark!
Are there any lighting mods I should know about? Thanks!

Put LEDs in.

My friend has put leds in, but the game is still very dark in the back
I'll try some other leds and maybe some spotlights I think.
The game is a Pro by the way.
