Yes. But the piece is flat in the back and has adhesive in the back. It doesn't have a slit in the middle for a t mold.

Do you have a picture? I went and looked at mine, appears to be t-molding all around it. Manual shows it also.

yup that looks awesome
would love to do something like that for my Autobot LE

Gadzooks! You right. It is chrome on top and black in the middle. Can you direct me to this same one? Thank you

Can anyone tell me how to remove the trim safely without damaging the wood?

It should pull out of there with a little bit of effort, lot of people change colors out on t-molding.

Love it, can you share the specs and where to buy?

Before you put the new t molding on run a flat blade screwdriver in the slots to make sure there's no splinters of wood in them from taking the old molding out. To put the new molding in take your cut to length molding pieces and starting from one corner, place a soft cloth over one palm of your hand and use that palm to slide along the molding as you push in REAL hard. Be as consistent with the pressure as possible, chrome molding shows every little high and low spot.

You can get it from us, it will be listed on our website along with a few other Transformers lighting mods, including undercabinet lights, in the next day or so. If you want one, you can also send me your PayPal address and I can invoice you. Btw, the backbox mod also has color changing strips on it, which enhances the lighting effects. Our website is LERMODS.com

The backbox mod is powered off the 12v plug in the front of the cabinet. Installation is really simple, takes about 5 minutes.

Is the backbox mod going to be sold

is there an easy way to change the domed flashers that sit on top of the slings?

Not that i know! But it's really not a very long process to get at them.

Take the nuts off in the picture and lift the plastic up. It won’t break, it can be flexed enough for what you need to change the flasher.

Sorry to break the 666 post mark but I just joined the club. HUO pro with 2K plays made it's way home with me.

What are the essential mods/fixes for this game? I'm doing ColorDMD, FF speakers, LEDs, shaker and full shop. Is the Cliffy's in production yet?

Which version did ya get? My Leg Light-Ups would look great on your game.

#669 6 years ago

First things I had to do were replace the Q15 and Q16 transistors for the flippers on the SAM board and have capacitors c53 and c52 removed. Then got the Opto kit for the ball trough to help with an extra ball shooting out midplay or game dying midplay. I got mine in October.

Yes, the cliffy's are available. You have to contact him direct though I I don't think any vendors sell it.

Being a pre-played game it should be good. Here are some common ones though.

Fixes -
- Some dead foam at the end of the all spark lane if you get bounce outs
- I made a wedge out of foam I got from walmart that was about an inch thick. cut it at an angle and put it against the back left wall under Star Scream. Did this as sometimes the ball would get stuck up their above the plastic. That fixed it for me.
- If you have issues with megatron locking all the needed balls or shooting out slow you may need to put some washers as the front of the through to make it a bit steeper. Normally only an issue if you go above 6.5 pitch
- Ironhide - I removed my control gate. Made it more fun to play. Check to see if your hangs on the back wall. It shouldn't but some did which would cause it to not shake as much as it should.

Does the pro have the same issues with the iron hide playfield and starscream? I thought the ramps were different than the LE. I may be wrong though.

#672 6 years ago

The pro does not have the iron hide ramp and gate issues. Have had mine for 6 yrs and only major issue was the megatron ball lock not shooting balls out.
Other than that a few bulbs. Amazingly very little to fix on a game with 1500+ plus plays.

#673 6 years ago

Dang, didn't catch it was a pro.

In that case the deadfoam in the allspark lane is it unless issues are found.

#674 6 years ago

Thank you all for your replies!

I haven't got much time on this machine, we only set it up at a buddy's house and had a few drunken games. The only issue that concerns me is that the right ramp only goes "around the bend" 1 out of 10 shots, it's like the ball pinches and rolls straight back down again. I thought the plastic bit that sits inbetween the bottom and top on the apex of the ramp was flipped the wrong way but now I've seen pictures of other machines having it the same way. There is also a bit of a ledge when the ball transitions from the "ramp" to the flat bit on top. Anyone else seen this?

What is this opto kit? My Stern Trek has started doing this very randomly and very far in-between.

#675 6 years ago

If anyone is interested, I have a NOS decal set direct from STERN for the lower cab (both sides and the front) available for sale. PM me if interested.

This is the one I ordered per the suggestion from Chas at Stern Tech Support. Super easy install. A temp fix is to reseat the connections in the front and back of the trough. This happens a ton on a few stern games, such an annoying flaw, and it always happens when your on what feels like could be the best ball of your life. (BOOM DEAD FLIPPERS)

Another thing I did on mine is for Optimus when the ramp is up to hit him. I noticed about 50%-60% of hard direct hits were registering. If you look under the playfield there are 2 springs holding him back. I removed the one on the right. Now 100% of direct hits register and the weak hits still do not, so I feel its a fare adjustment. Some others suggested putting washers between the switch and the playfield to make it more sensitive.

Last order of upgrades/parts landed me just shy of a grand. Automatically puts it in the "keeper" category.

Has anyone been bugging Stern about a code update for TF? Not having mode or multiball progress when you "hold for status" screams for an update. Tron has that and it came before TF... one can dream, right?

What could possibly cost a grand in upgrades and parts?
Pinsound board, color dmd (if they even have one), etc?

Quoted from Vyzer2:

ColorDMD, shaker motor, FF speakers, LEDs, Cliffys - those are the upgrades. Then we have balls, flipper rebuild kits, rubbers etc for wear and tear.

Shite, that actually landed north of a grand when I added it together.

#680 6 years ago

How is the color dmd? Only game I have without color.
And do you like the led's. This was my first game and still love it.

I just finished ordered everything today. I think the ColorDMD is done pretty well looking at the demo. I had some color-testing LEDs lying around before I ordered for the whole machine and the game surely gonna pop based on the small comparison I made. I'm also adding the spotlights that the LEs have. The speaker upgrade is going to be the biggest bang for the buck hands down because the audio and sounds is absolutely amazing in this game.

I've played this game on location both with and without the color DMD. Color made a huge difference. Way easier to tell what the graphics were vs on the original orange display, sometimes I had a hard time identifying the movie clip. I'm not an owner of one so they can definitely tell you more as they'll have more time with it, but I loved it.

#684 6 years ago

The ColorDMD is a massive upgrade on TF. Similar to Game of Thrones, the video clips on the DMD for Transformers are muddied and blurry and really hard to see what's going on. The ColorDMD is amazing at how much clearer the video content becomes when you have those other colors added to provide differentiation. I put one in my TF in anycase.

Joined on the weekend, TF Pro. She's quick and lots of shots to hit. Needs a light to medium cleaning, excited to get more games in.

#688 6 years ago

I took the ballgate off my mini playfield long ago but rarely was able to get ironhide scoring really going. Tonight I switched the ironhide scoring start from ramp switch to mini playfield switch and upped the time to 30 seconds. I completed it on the first game and was fun shooting up there a couple times to work through it. It should have been this way from the start.

#689 6 years ago

Hooked up a Polk 10” subwoofer to mine this weekend. Love hearing the chopper on Blackout mode.
Also you are right BOBCADE the Ironhide playfield is sweet if you adjust the setting to begin with the mini playfield switch. The LE gets so much hate for that upper playfield but I love it.
Got the Tilt Graffic blades for it too. I think my next mod is gonna be under cabinet lighting.
All hail Megatron!!!

Did you do any other adjustments like add in a crossover or anything? Or did you just swap out to a better sub?
I love the call outs and sound effects, would like it to have more "depth" to it with better audio

I used the audio out board from pinnovators.com and just set the bass frequency to 160 on the polk. Thumps nicely and isn’t muddy. A LOT of people like to piggy back the sub in the cabinet but personally after running sound and playing bands for years I’d rather not tinker around like that with a powered sub and risk some anomaly happening and frying the SAM board.
All in all took about 10 minutes to set up. The longest part was deciding where to run the speaker cable out of the cabinet lol

Added over 6 years ago: Edit - the frequency on this is around 90... I set the sub for my tv surround sound to 160. whoops.

#692 6 years ago

I noticed in the bumper exit area there is a post missing on my game. Later I examined an LE machine and the hole for that post was missing altogether (although the circle in the print was still there). I guess this is to prevent the ball "locking" in the bumper area as it makes the exit bigger. What's your thoughts on this?

I just picked up a Transformers LE (combo) and have been struggling to get the USB port to recognize any USB stick. I'm testing side-by-side with my X-Men Pro which recognizes the same USB stick immediately, so I doubt it's a formatting problem. I have tested around 6 different USB sticks, and none are recognized. Both testing using the update code function (cold reset with DIP switch 8 on) and using the code backup option from the Settings menu, but the DMD forever says to insert a USB. One of my sticks has an LED which illuminates when I plug it in, so I doubt it's a power issue.

The settings reports: V1.0, sys V1.59, HW 2

Is there any known issue with this machine recognizing USB devices, or should I suspect a damaged SAM board?

You may want to email stern to see if Chas has any advice on this.

I just had a thought.. does the upgrade process write the new code to the removable EPROM? Or is it on any other removable component? If so, I could just flash the code on one of my working SAM-based machines and swap the chip.

#696 6 years ago

Hey folks, question. Anyone tried to bring down the intensity of the awful pulsating flashing during gameplay?

I had the same problem with my BW with the GI flashing during gameplay, it was absolutely interfering with trying to focus

#697 6 years ago

Has anybody ever figured out a good solution to swap out the Peter Cullen wannabe callouts on this game with something legit?

It may be possible to bypass that replay. Not sure though but that would be a start.

How does the controlled orb gate mod on the pro works? Not wanna remove it.

If you shoot the left orbit the gate will open to allow the ball to loop around. Otherwise it remains closed.
