So tonight I was rebuilding my flippers and noticed my transformer was very hot to the touch. The game had been on for a few hours, not being played. I have a feeling this is not normal, but not sure I have really paid attention either. If it's not, anything I should be on the lookout for to fix this situation? Thanks.

Craig,
First I would look at your power driver board, any hacks? Crappy board repairs? I had a game that had that issue and Jim found someone repinned J115 and did a crappy solder job, it was slightly arcing across the solder causing the transformer to get hot.

I dont really have any good suggestions but great to see other guys depriving themselves from sleep!

They get pretty warm. Touch some of your other ones after a couple hours, you might be surprised.

Check the transformer connector plug to make sure it isn't jumpered for a lower voltage than is supplied at the socket.

I had this on Road Kings and the transformer was too hot to touch.

Did you ever solve this problem?

I had never touched any of my transformers, they all felt the same after I tried. It was not cook an egg on it hot, just surprised they got so warm and I had never noticed.
