Did it work fine after it dried?

#52 3 years ago

Been wondering about this, too.

Yes it did work and turned out pretty good. I still haven’t done the part number stencil on top, but I will eventually. Here are a couple of pics of it finished with the new wiring harness and rectifier board. All voltages checked out like they should.

Yup, that's amazing! Something weird about being able to see yourself in the rectifier-board mounting plate though: I don't think any game came from the factory like that (not complaining, just feels a bit alternate-reality!)

Here's one more with a stamp on top. This is in an F2K.

I just cleaned up my -6. I didn’t go to your lengths but I used yours as a reference. Would have loved to have done the new label but was just too keen to get it installed haha. Congrats on yours, looks awesome.

Nice, where did you source your transformer?

As for the mounting parts with the replacement rectifier board... you want the press fit side into the PCB and the screw and nut into the mounting bracket. If the washer bites into the top of the PCB a short could happen.

A fella up in Sydney. He wasn’t sure what it was as all markings had rubbed off. Wasn’t cheap, but they’re not exactly growing on trees.

Thanks for catching my mistake. I will get that switched! Love your products, your the go to for replacement boards for the classic Sterns and Ballys.

Even after reading this, dismantling a transformer will never ever cross my mind, great work.

I had a tab come off a Meteor transformer last year. The winding wire is so fine and had maybe had 5mm that was visible, I thought that this is toast. Contacted any local company electrical based but no one would have a look, found a place specialising in electrical motor rewinding, industrial sized stuff, that looked at it. It was fixed at there minimum 1 hour charge out rate, felt they were happy doing something different. They were curious to know what uses this fairly complex/specific transformer as they aren't common. I asked if it could be replicated and what the cost would be? Yes it could, but no one would pay what we would charge to remake this.
