im looking into getting a mata hari with a transformer that is not connected to game. just curious if theres any complexities to installing one, other than just soldering the wires on correctly. i saw the manual has a diagram of wires for the transformer. im comfortable with boardwork, just havent had to deal with a transformer yet.
thanks.

Is it the original transformer, why isn't it connected?

Just make sure the transformer load outputs are what they are supposed to be prior to connecting them.

Wiring a transformer should be a cinch compared to board work.

J1 - J3 harness, operators use to solder the wires to pins at times. I always bring it back to factory condition (correct).

Im really not sure, I think it may have been parted out at one time and he's just including a different one. I trust seller it's the correct one for a mata hari tho.
As far as checking output loads, would that mean connecting transformer to power source, turning on, and checking values of wires that would go to power board?

Usually the Bally transformers were mounted on a steel plate. The transformers usually had white paint numbers on them. Post some pictures & people will tell you if it looks ok.

Exactly. The LINE side of the transformer is the input and the LOAD side is the output.

You can install just J2 to the transformer power board, & test voltages at the top test points. Check the fuses are ok & the correct ones with power off. Install driver board, 2 wire harness on right side & check voltages. Poor mpu, just buy a new replacement! You can search out pinball repair guides for more info.
