Hi everyone, I've got an odd problem I'm hoping someone can help with. The original problem was the Reset Motor continually ran and I assumed was just a contact adjustment on the index...so I gapping the Index Reset Motor switch. The game played but then I was chasing a problem with the roll-over specials, until I realised it was still a problem with the Reset Mechanism...so this is what it does -

When starting a new game it resets the special relays as it should however the motor continues on or freewheels (with no power) enough to lift one of the Cam lobes, creating my in play special issue. If I power the motor (tapping index switch) then brake the cam by hand to where the index switch is open, the game plays perfectly. Thought this may be a tension adjustment on the Cam Followers issue (not sure what they're called - they contact the cam with some tension) or do the motors have another way of 'braking' the cam?

Any ideas/help much appreciated, Steve

There is a spring-loaded gear that drives the score motor. When the motor gets current to move, magnetic force pulls the gear into place and the score motor rotates. When the score motor is supposed to stop and the current to it ceases, a spring is supposed to push that gear out of place and stop the motor turning almost instantly. Sometimes that gear is dirty and it stays in place a bit too long before dropping out, so the score motor can over-rotate.

See if you can find that moving gear and clean it so that it moves easily and quickly.

Well the gear was well seized. I'm sure this happens all the time but a first for me. Pointer (toothpick) shows the simple meshing/un meshing of this.
