Quoted from nicoy3k:

Is it going to be 12k? Yes. Are the playfields going to disintegrate? Yes. Will JJP ignore customer support emails? Yes. Am I out? Yes

So your not buying a CE?

Quoted from Vino:

So with the details coming any day now where does Pinside stand on a Toy Story pinball from JJP?
Are you to “Infinity and Beyond” excited and potentially breaking the bank to get one or passing?
Clearly a huge family title set to launch.
[quoted image]

Not a 100% sure why you started this thread but it sure went to a bash JJP thread pretty fucking quick! All the usual suspects are swarming to convince anybody that might like the theme or JJP games that they should stop getting pumped for this new game.Pinside is as predictable as usual and of course I'm a fanboy so don't bother.

#40 1 year ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

I love animation.
Toy Story is one of the greatest trilogies ever (I’m ignoring 4 lol).
I’m out. Too many things about JJP rub me the wrong way. Issues aside, I have enough crazy fun crazy deep new games to entertain me. I don’t need it.

When you see this you will be wanting it for sure!!

Yeah that Wonka and Dialed In play like shit Stern pins play so much better!HaHa

#60 1 year ago
Quoted from yancy:

Haha wow, we're collection shaming now. If you must know, I bought it from my dad who was getting out of pinball. In the process of trading it because, yes, the rules are shallow and exploit-laden.
That said, still more fun to shoot than any JJP game, for my money.

Hater gonna hate Go playa yo Sternos HaHa

#90 1 year ago
Quoted from Cdonnerusmc:

I'm really excited to see it and play one on location but I'm done buying and dealing with the maintenance issues with owning a JJP.

What issues I’ve had DI and Wonka for years and the only issue I’ve had was the cell phone on DI.
I’ve also had AC/DC Luci and Ripleys and had some issues with both!

Quoted from Jaytech10:

JJPs machines has to be fine tuned to play them. Pitch and flipper strength has be set just right. The only Stern I bought nib is godzilla premium.

Response is from Yancy’s post

#100 1 year ago
Quoted from manadams:

Why are people worried how much JJP spends on voice actors when games are going to cost 12k or more?

Ok we got it!You think JJP machines should cost more and you can’t wait to buy #7 to go with your complete JJP lineup?

#109 1 year ago
Quoted from Manimal:

If they hit this one out of the park, I will jump in at some point....but that is a big "IF". I have no idea if this is a "make or break" game for JJP, but they desperately need a win. Who would have thought WOZ would still be their best seller this late in the game?

GnR sold what? 250 units?

#114 1 year ago
Quoted from Manimal:

Probably a little more than that, but not by much. A good many of those that bought for the artwork are now dumping them.

I call bullshit! You joking of course?
They sold over 500 to 750 CE’s!
I know they’ve made around the 3500 to 4000 LE’s. Lol

#154 1 year ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I came in second!!!
If only I had the confidence Forkie had acquired by the end of Toy Story 4.

No forking way dude!

#164 1 year ago
Quoted from Deez:

How many plays does your GNR have on it? I've never seen one with a nice playfield except when fresh out of the box.

There is quite a bit of first hand experience were GnR owners have perfect playfields after hundreds of plays.Fact is not all playfields were defective.I totally agree that this whole Mirco playfield situation is bullshit and JJP should have handled differently. They should come forward when they introduce Toy Story with a statement about new playfield

#168 1 year ago
Quoted from blacklightprod:

Totally in personally think its going to be JJP biggest seller of all time.

I think so too but I will predict that even it’s the most magically perfect game of all time we will still find a shitload of problems!!

Quoted from Hammerhead:

Hooray! Based on the number of people in this thread passing on TS, I should have no problem getting my CE!

#192 1 year ago
Quoted from Elvishasleft:

I'll be happy to play one but theme wise? hell no.
I am all for any pin that plays well but that has not been the strong suit for most JJPs. Always find it amusing that their two best playing pins (Dialed in and Wonka) are the two least popular.
Their market is the "wow look at all that shit on the playfield and lights" here is my deposit guy.
Looking forward to the people who buy without playing a single ball and then panic sell with 25 plays on it months later.

I don’t think Wonka should be included with least popular. They actually sold a good amount of this pin included a short run of 500 later when GnR was on mainline!
Same old fanboy bullshit from the same old crowd about a box of light argument!GnR has sold a shit ton for JJP and will continue to improve!

#197 1 year ago
Quoted from Elvishasleft:

Is what it is... JJP puts playability toward the bottom of the list and it shows.
I'll take a stripped down game that plays great like AFM over any JJP.

Quoted from Elvishasleft:

GNR sold a ton.. as has every pin that came out last few years.
it's also the most overhyped and worst playing game of the last number of years maybe second to Ghostbusters... cant think of any other that was more of a disappointment.

Ok so are your out on a Toy Story pin,you could’ve just said that?
Elvis has now left the thread haha

You can hate it as much as you want , I don't care . But I don't think it's fair to criticise the game for your lack of scoring , after 20 minutes Karl D'Angelo can have over 800 million .
Just my opinion .

Great point

#219 1 year ago
Quoted from DanQverymuch:

I'm not 7. I'm out.
To be honest, owning a WOZECLE that just sat there looking so pretty while giving me no urge to ever play it kinda soured me on JJP. But a movie for children doesn't entice me any more than did a band for deaf people on their last release.

Great we’ll put you down as another JJP hater that loves to tell everybody how much!

All these people keep bringing up lack of support?I’ve always found Steve and crew very responsive to any issues that have come up over time.I’m not talking about any playfield pooling and I’m not minimizing that situation. But the JJP support team does a good job!

Quoted from Colehvac1:

Take a look at sterns production since JJP was formed, and even with a so called billionaire investor they still cant produce more than a game every two years. To each their own, but taking a no warranty stance on playfields and cabinets, plus lack of parts support for games from before the investors took over was a terrible corporate decision. The polls dont lie! I may be a broken record, but it’s obvious theres more than just me.

Quoted from at_t_2d:

I purchased a new Dialed In when they came out and have been very happy with it. I am a Pat Lawlor fan and Toy Story is a pin I have been looking forward to for several years. I haven't been active on Pinside for a while and suddenly seeing all of these JJP playfield posts is starting to get me very concerned. I have pins for enjoyment and relaxation and I am seeing a lot of very frustrated people posting on this forum about the poor quality and lack of customer service they have received regarding playfields. I hope JJP has gotten a wake up call and gets their act together, otherwise it just isn't worth the risk to me. There are plenty of other places for me (us) to spend our entertainment dollars.

I guess I was just lucky my Dialed In and Wonka are still in excellent condition after thousands of plays

Quoted from Colehvac1:

I took the survey also. The games have always been fun but their customer service was lacking for me. Im glad they sent surveys but i think for alot of their use to be customers, the damage is done, its very hard to repair a relationship with a customer that feels wronged. I have played toy story 4 a bunch and i find myself wanting to play more after each game is finished.

What??

#1833 1 year ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

I’m not sure I understand having a topper that repeats the game’s title with the wrong logo/font. Aesthetically unpleasant.

Thank you for your assessment.

#1879 1 year ago
Quoted from DakotaMike:

So....will the "Toy Story is a huge success, and a big win for Pat and JJP" people finally admit they are wrong?
Weeks after release, you can easily find multiple Toy Story CE's for MSRP or less on the market. And that's without even looking that hard, or calling around to Distros.
[quoted image]
And there are multiple LEs listed for below MSRP as well, including ones ready to ship.
[quoted image]
Just admit it people, TS4 is nowhere near the hit GNR was. And in a lot of ways is a miss. If you personally like or love it, then great, enjoy it and be happy with your $12k to $15k purchase. But clearly the market-at-large doesn't feel the value is there at JJP's suggested MSRP, so let's not pretend that TS4 is something that it's not.

Ok we admit it is a total failure !
Now do you feel better?

#1907 1 year ago
Quoted from jimwe5t:

Oh I own plenty of games, even JJP.

Lol

Quoted from smokinhos:

Half GnRs songs kinda suck. Appetite and Lies i enjoyed.. by Illusion i was like where the F did GnR go? And I dont recognize the band now. How bout just use old music video clips? Instead we get carrot top on steriods. Great lights.. but its been said before, after the lights and art work.. whats really there? Multiball? Spinning disc?
Not surprised that TS4 seems lacking as it's kinda the same recipe of ... lights and being, but where's the "fun" stuff?

You should just buy an Ultraman!
Oh wait you did ooops

#1956 1 year ago
Quoted from smokinhos:

I did... and now I'm trading it for HWN. We like the HWN theme better. Your point is?

My point is if you are valuing Halloween over GnR we question your judgement?

#1958 1 year ago
Quoted from zaphX:

Based on the slots for sale, you're probably right.

I don’t think it’s going to be the hot property that GnR was, but they’ve already made a bank vault of cash.
Move on to the next game.Godfather?Strange choice
I’d rather see Sonic Spinball or The Matrix

Quoted from Palmer:

You’re an idiot for lumping JJP in with DR and JPOP.

You are 100% correct in your assessment of wett but be careful his goal is to get you banned.
He is the epitome of troll!

#1974 1 year ago
Quoted from djsolzs:

It’s not just price - a lot of people wanted to see more mechanical elements in the game. I passed for this reason and not price. It is a fun game - glad to hear your enjoying it. I myself was looking to add more JJP as I love playing mine. I just can’t without more creativity as I have seen with JJP before.

Creativity like Dialed In!

#2016 1 year ago
Quoted from PtownPin:

He doesn't own any games...

Jimwett doesn't own any games? That's so sad jimmy maybe we should take a collection and buy jimmy a John popadick pirates of the Caribbean so he doesn't hate so much?

#2025 1 year ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

The first games came with nothing, and it's still a bad shot.

Yeah that's the standard approach, and it works really well expect you have to collect 8 Sim cards. You can go in the menu and look at how many sim card shots you get per game; spoilers the average is well under 8 & that's all shots
I find the people that defend the shot usually have changed to hold over balls; but I just cant do it. I should try taking a rubber off but I've been saying that for over a year now

Change the setting

#2026 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

Really appreciate honesty from an owner. So many owners put their head in the sand and make excuses for a game. Sure, it's great to have an "approachable" game for novices (like some of said), however there are many good/solid games that both novices and pinheads enjoy (and this ain't it).
Considering how much I was looking forward to this game, it's mind blowing that I'm not rushing to buy your game (since I'm local). If I have more space, I might give it a whirl, however I like my current lineup too much and GZ Premium just landed today...

I remember the fanboys for Stern were trying to defend the ugliness that was Led Zep ( my favorite band) So this bullshit goes on all the time. The big difference is I got over arguing my point in about a week and a half but JJP haters are still going on and on about TS Fuck it move on

#2032 1 year ago
Quoted from Roostking:

Umm lol. Dialed in is the best JJP by far. Hall

Why don't you go to the owner's thread this is the general commentary thread about Toy Story 4. If you want roses and lollipops go elsewhere. Of course you've been told to do that before but you'd rather sit here and cry about JJP and how bad-ass they are, even though they're not.

Alright since you don’t have anything better to do but criticize.
As a JJP fanboy I totally disagree with their decision to fire LTG and Butch Peel.I think they should have been more forthright in addressing playfield issues.Personally I wish they would have made TS1,2 and 3.
The pricing for this game is ridiculous. How’s that for a fanboy?

#2048 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

I feel your pain...Led Zeppelin (the band) also one of my favorites. I am heavily weighted in Rock and Roll pins, but had to pass on LZ. Owned Aerosmith for about a year...not a keeper for me, but liked it much more than Led Zeppelin.
Don't know if you've seen this, but it rocks...Beth Hart's Led Zeppelin covers are the real deal.

Great video she’s strong for sure!
I had an AC/DC Luci for three years and was really hoping Zeppelin would be as good.Man they blew it on that one.I assume Steve was hamstrung by IP holder!
Speaking of IP holders I would have told Disney no on 4.Especially when they already had 1,2and 3

Quoted from jimwe5t:

Lolololo, right on RoastKing! Rummy (romulusx) is the head of JJP cheerleaders everywhere. He’s been completely brainwashed by JJP into a hypnotic state beyond imagine. JJP is his very DNA for some crazy reason. JJP sunshine and lollipops is his only reason for existence here on Pinside or life in general, lol. Sad way to live. He makes excuses and apologies for all the missteps JJP makes. The only explanation that makes sense is, this has to be Jack himself posing as rummy on a relentless mission to build his company he once owned and defending it at every turn. It’s bizarre Rummy, totally bizarre, you obsession.

You have no integrity at all!Your participation here is of no use to anyone. As for credibility you have none.I would bet money that your just a little man with no real friends in your moms basement.Oh and no pinball machines to boot!(pun intended)

#2148 1 year ago
Quoted from zaphX:

I know. Generally speaking:
- I buy pins to play, not to flip.
- If I sell it's because I didn't like the game, or I got what I wanted out of it playwise, or I upgraded to a higher tier.
- I'm perfectly ok losing money on a game that I enjoyed, because that enjoyment has value too.
I probably should have gone with LE on this one so I could get it quicker, play it, and eat less loss if it gets mastered quickly.
I'm sure I will feel good about the CE once it's in hand.
And yes, I35 is the suck. Our last 30 mins home took almost 2 hrs.

Well how about all this honesty!
It’s a breath of fresh on this site.

Quoted from JSC:

The funny thing is Rolex’s actually have relatively cheap MSRP compared to some other luxury brands like Patek, AP and RM. They are obviously not inexpensive but they represent somewhat of a value if you are able to get them at retail. Jersey Jack tried to blow the roof of pricing with zero compelling sales pitch to do so. I get they were trying to take some of the profits flippers were making, but they clearly misfired and misunderstood supply and demand by pumping out way more numbers. I am glad their anti-consumer price gauging backfired. I am sure stern and CGC are taking notice on what the limits are.

They will have to make adjustments in the future.I agree that they overshot. For $15000 it would need to be Twilight Zone with Toy Story 1,2 and 3 theme!

Have fun seeing all of TSBore on the first play, Liar McLiarson.
Most people don’t see past a mode or two per game on R&M due to the difficulty….and like any game, difficulty can be adjusted thru physical settings or code.
Super weird that you pick on R&M’s code. It has more mode content than most games. Did you sell it before Scary Terry, Rick Potion No 9, and Moonmen were added? The multiballs are extremely difficult as well. The game is a constant fun challenge. But hey, you got $15k Bo Peep Loops to look forward to!

The posts are a necessity to keep shots from going astray - not a value add.
Focusing on the mechanical implementation in the mech itself when preaching about the entertainment uniqueness is spin doctoring to make something seem more than it is. It’s a disappearing jump ramp. Not a new idea.
I like it’s play value - but the hyperbole is dumb and misleading.

Speaking of hyperbole?

It's funny that you say that. There was also an Ultraman at the place where I played TS4. I seriously had a better time with it. Since I know nothing about Ultraman, it simply felt like a fun, unlicensed theme to me. Was it awesome? No. Was it more enjoyable than TS4? Yes.

Wow this thread really went off the rails! Now back to the regular scheduled TS4 bashing.
Seriously speaking of JJP I wonder what conclusions Ken and crew came up with?
I forgot to say I was referring to the
questionnaire they sent out a couple of weeks ago.

Quoted from Rarehero:

Usually true. I really waffled about bailing on UM after playing it on location with early code. I'm pretty happy with the game as it stands today -and I've had some long-time hobbyists over to play it, and they enjoyed it.

Just to get this straight do you think UM is a better game then TS4?
Not factoring in price(ridiculously overpriced) for sure!

Quoted from Waxx:

Are you saying coils = toys and/or fun? Hobbit would like a word because that game could have double the coils and it would still be less fun than a GZ Pro with the coils removed from everything but the flippers.

Wow and how old are we.My dogs bigger because he eats Kennelration

Lotta good lines in that one.

Gangs of New York good?

And it’s from a timeframe I’m digging right now.Deadwood and Warrior are two of the best series!

Quoted from explosiveegg:

Didn't both GNR and Wonka both receive substantial code updates about a year after release that drastically changed up the gameplay?

Ye I can speak first hand as far as Wonka goes. Both Dialed In and Wonka have had many updates!

Quoted from Pinman2005:

I haven’t owned a JJP but am cautious based on the comments about poor quality. The last thing I would want to do is pay a premium for a pin that won’t last that long.

Quoted from Yoko2una:

Oh, actually you're right in that regard. We actually have proof of TWO Andy signatures in Toy Story, and they both can be seen here...
The problem is that the "backwards N" Andy is an iconic signature from young Andy in a key plot development scene, and he later corrected the 'N' when labeling Buzz as his toy. So in the Toy Story universe, the Woody boot is the iconic youthful Andy signature and would be the intent of a modder who wanted to be true to the TS universe. Meanwhile, the mod trying to be sold here uses a knockoff image you can find on the likes of Etsy...
[quoted image]
So you can either try to make the signature true to the movie where he labelled Woody as his toy during his youth... or you can be in imaginationland where we imagine he may have written it a bit differently elsewhere, including on the $400 aftermarket armor of a TS4 pinball that doesn't feature Andy in the movie.
It's like making an Avengers mod where the 'A' insignia isn't right, or a SW mod where the font of the logo is wrong and the X-fighters have 5 wings. You can't change the logos or imagery of classic movies and then pitch it as a mod true to the movie. Andy's Woody boot signature is done one way, and anything that differs is NOT Andy's Woody boot signature. I'd never prominently display something unauthentic as this on a $12-15K pin.

Omg seriously?

Quoted from Roostking:

Well if there was something interesting to talk about in this game then I guess we might talk about that but since there's not, we're gonna talk about upgraded armor with autographs that may or may not be similar to the movie. Personally I loved the insight that he gave.

Quoted from snaroff:

Only a true JJP fanboy would sum it up this way. You are wrong!! I have some affluent collector friends who were crying on my shoulder recently about this being their dream theme (same for me) and sitting on the sidelines because the game is so "meh" (I'll spare you the details, since many have come up on this thread). These are guys that can afford ANYTHING they want. Would these same guys pick one up if the price plummets 3k? Possibly, but they've also said it would likely be a game to putz around with or they'd get it for other family members (i.e. not a keeper).
I'm glad you dig it and agree that JJP games are built like a tank (at least DILE and GNRLE were). Unfortunately, their reliability and gameplay are no better than Stern games (for the most part). Frankly, the 400lb. weight kind of sucks for home use. I had 2 movers carry my WH20 and LOTR up 18-steps yesterday with no problem. No way they could do that with a JJP game, which is ~150lbs heavier. MANY of these games are going into homes and 400lbs. is a minus, not a plus.

The do not weigh 400lbs.

#2688 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

Stand corrected...most are apparently closer to 325lbs., which is still ~100lbs. more than a Stern. Same effect...the extra weight makes them much harder to relocate upstairs.

Get an Escalara from Zack!

Quoted from Roostking:

The game is a turd we all know it and deep down so do you.
Totally laughable to even think to compare it to Godzilla lol

What did you say?

#2694 1 year ago
Quoted from Roostking:

You heard me! You feel me!

Oh I see you said it time and time again now go play that pinball machine

#2700 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

Doesn't solve the problem. I had a professional pinball mover (and pinball buddy) over with a high-end Escalara type device and after seeing him struggle with my DILE, told him to fuck it...I'll live with it downstairs. They don't deal well with a curvy stained staircase...
I guess my point is the extra weight is unnecessary and not reflective of "quality"...just a PITA.
[quoted image]

JJP’s are built stronger then Stern pins are! That’s not saying they’re more fun or better it’s just stating a fact.I was a cabinet installer and woodworker for many years.

#2711 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

Excellent point...probably has little to do with the cabinet.

You should probably buy Stern pins!

#2714 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

Was home to Rick and Morty. Wife decided having games in the entry to our home wan't cool...we both prefer the golden boobies

Well, I currently own 0 JJP, so that's been the plan for many years. GNRLE was a huge disappointment...much happier with RushLE.
[quoted image]

What a surprise?GnR is a great pin

#2717 1 year ago
Quoted from Roostking:

Thats what we have all been saying, glad you finally came around! You in on Bond or what!

No probaly not!The price of pins has gotten too high for me to get nib’s.
One things for sure is I’m not going to spend my time on Pinside trying to convince people not to buy Stern pins! It’s so stupid trying to convince people that what you like is better all the time

Quoted from zaphX:

I'm sorry to say the price hike on this game was the nudge to get me disinterested in pinball.
It's not that I can't afford it, it's that it's not worth it to me any more at these prices.
It looks like Stern is following suit too so...oh well, I'll find something else to do.

Just enjoy the games you have! That ‘s what I try to do and be grateful !
I know how you feel about the crazy pricing that’s happening and it’s sad that it’s got this bad.It really does make me feel sad that I can’t afford any new pins and even older titles are crazy nowadays.Keep on rockin in the free world brother

Fun game but not thousands of games fun.
Wonka is phenomenal. Can TS be that bad by comparison?

Your probably right on staying power, but didn’t DP just release a big code update?Man what a cool theme and an awesome looking game! Its too bad it got so bogged down in the muck that happened

#2927 1 year ago
Quoted from Doctor6:Ts4 is a super model that barks like a seal and lies perfectly still while you have sex with her. Of course it is going to get a ton of attention, initially, based on looks. But often times people dont wanna play it again after one or two goes.
