Quoted from jfh:

No. 99 CEs sold (one was refunded). The other 900 CEs were allocated to distributors and there are distributors that still have them today.

Who are they? If it’s that much of a miss why do you care?

You don’t need to justify why you didn’t get one. It’s fine. It has sold out apparently on CEs

Have you played it yet?

You are def more old school. I get it.

GNR a phenomenal pin. Can’t write this one off yet

Quoted from leonml:

I should've known better.
The internet once again devolved into, brave keyboard warriors, with superior intellect and knowledge, in their own minds, boldly stating to those they disagree and pass baseless judgment on, "i don't agree with you, so, you're a racist, sexist, bigot, and must be old because you have a differing opinion."
I would think it'd get old after awhile, but no, it hasn't. Amazing how the universe seems to revolve around so many individuals these days.
Im going to go do adult things with other adults now. You know, yelling at kids and begging a nazi racist bigot, etc.etc.etc. how old and cliche this all is.

Quoted from Noma2017:

My guess is it is priced right at or just slightly above where it needs to be in today’s market. Godzilla LE, Deadpool LE and Stanger Things LE all command north of $16k used and higher for NIB. It’s just where the market is. I’m not hesitating on this one because I have unfortunately paid those insane prices for some of the good Stern LEs.

"It's just where the market is".

People are having a tough time coming to grips with that fact. Like it or not. I understand it's crazy and ridiculous but it is what it is for now.

Here's a good example, Thunderbird was over in the Munsters thread pumping up the LE sale at $17,500 and saying it's going a lot higher because of how great the game is. I have one, and I love mine but............... $17,500 and up?

THAT is the problem right there. Yes prices are insane but people now EXPECT to buy a game for X and sell it a lot higher for Y.

What did you think was going to happen? The "money grabs"? Take a peek at the Pinside Marketplace. It's not one or two, it's across the board.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

It just seems funny to me that EVERY new release around here becomes a referendum on the manufacturer, the “bubble,” and in fact, all of pinball itself.
It’s just a new pinball machine. Like dozens from the last few years.
None of those have radically changed anything. The game is never changed. The paradigm is never shifted. Why do you expect this one to do that? Why does the fate of an entire industry or company have to hang in the balance with every game?
Some people will buy it, some people won’t, and then we’ll move on to the next one. Just like last time.
You guys can see that, right? Or am I the one losing perspective here?

The stakes get higher as the prices get higher for many people including Ops

The paradigm shift is that now “flippers” and HUO purchasers are facing the potential reality that they will no longer be able to make money buying pinball machines. Thus, more buyers being priced out every day

Unless one thinks that $20k is the next new normal stop on the pinball road of LE insanity. I don’t.

Quoted from Ivanhoe:

I have a JJP #WOZ RR, I always wanted a #POTC CE (I had the chance but thought I'd pick one up used later on, how wrong I was). I think I have a nice collection, I look at theme, artwork, playfield mechs and gameplay. If a game plays great and the theme and artwork are bad, then ...believe it or not...i'd probably walk away. Pinball is both fun and a piece of mechanical and artistic beauty.
So upon hearing of Toy Story for JJP, I didn't hesitate, I put myself down for a CE.
Now after hearing so many cons about it being solely a TS4 theme, the bare playfield and the off the shelf toys, I'm torn.
The pros include well done artwork and its certainly family friendly.
TBD is how I feel about gameplay...not someone else's opinion.
This price point bothers me, I don't feel like taking a $15K gamble. I feel like giving up my spot and waiting for something else to come out.

If you are having any doubts based on what you see then pull the plug. You can always get it later.

Wonder how much Stern will raise prices for?

Bond next
Jaws and Elwin after that
Then BTTF

3 great licenses.

Is there even a breaking point?

#1200 1 year ago
Quoted from Thunderbird:

Come on buddy, Stern is not totally stupid like your JJP pals. They see the price backlash. They’re in it for the long haul and know we’d be up in arms if they raise them too much if at all. Things are already crashing everywhere, so why would they want to alienate their customer base as the morons at JJP are doing???

Man you are living in some kind of nut job bubble! See Law’s post

They have gone up consistently and will keep going up. Along with increasing the number of LEs

$25k for an Elvira 40th meant to make the customer base feel good?

Stern isn’t a non profit charity. And they have 3 killer themes coming out.

He Man though?

#1203 1 year ago
Quoted from Thunderbird:

Lol, when I saw you sitting at the head of the “nut job bubble” class, I left, lol. Yes, Elvira was not a good move for sure, but that one off scalpers scam is not their main business model.

I like both companies, along with CGC, AP and Spooky. Actually really like pinball in general. I don’t blow a nut over something I don’t like as you have done. Better check yourself. It’s just pinball!

You just make shit up though Tbird. I have to admit, it’s comical.

#1205 1 year ago
Quoted from Thunderbird:

All facts, nothing made up like you do ol’ buddy. “None of my JJPs have flipper fade issues”, LOLOLOLOLO that is the most comical made up BS anyone has ever conjured up. (Then we could add all the Deep Root propaganda you’ve made up over the years. Yeah, buddy you top em all!) LOL!

Karl part 2 tonight. Let’s go.

Bust a nut buddy

Wtf you talking about DR propaganda. Once again pulling nonsense out of your ass.

We all know how it ended and where DR was at status wise when it did. It was a shitshow and everybody got to see what they were up to before the SEC shut em down.

Because you care fwiw, I didn’t lose a dime. I did lose my original Raza with Jpop, that’s how I got that free transfer. It ain’t no big thing except for the $57 million worth that shitbag screwed out of people.

#1251 1 year ago
Quoted from guitarded:

I wouldn't call any of those Themes killer.
BTTF? Jaws the Pinball? Modern Bond?
No thanks.

I see that from your collection and history

He Man? #4. Didn’t mention it

#1254 1 year ago

Hey everybody, Stern just announced Elwin’s new pin Jaws, check out these “flippers” going crazy !

#1272 1 year ago
Quoted from guitarded:

Fail to see what my collection has to do with it. Unless that's just your way of swinging a dick?
In which case, I am comletely impressed with your ability to purchase every machine that Stern, JJP and others shit out. I spend my monies elsewhere.
I don't see the appeal of Toy Story and I certainly don't see the appeal of another BTTF pin. There's a ton of stuff out there that has way more upside than wasting money on nostalgia Licenses.

Lighten up Francis, you said you didn’t like those themes or most of what Stern pumps out so I wondered what you did like.

Based on your pins I see why. That’s it. Everybody has different likes and dislikes

Quoted from TheLaw:

Yet they all clammer for Warhammer!
Believe me I'm not creaming my jeans over it at all, but over 10 years there's more than a couple people.
And even then its certainly at worst the same size as Iron Maiden beggers we had to listen to for 8 years; and that shit happened; and it was great!

Yep. But wtf is Warhammer? Comic book ?

#1298 1 year ago
Quoted from Noma2017:

Darn, if I ultimately like TS4, it is only because I am a beginner/intermediate player.

Well this is your game

And if anyone can’t like GNR and all it brings to the table for pinball then you are a total no hoper

The pricing has gone crazy.

But JJP still delivers a great experience

GNR and Wonka ain’t going anywhere

Toy Story looks like a lot of fun. The pricing has hit a wall. Feels like game over on that front.

Is it any easier shootinthst something like NGG? That might be the easiest buttery smooth shooter ever.

Quoted from LTG:

They need it too. If interest drops and alcohol sales drop. Pinball alone won't support the barcade operation.
LTG : )

Alcohol sales will do better in a recession Lloyd! Or just as good.

Plus, where else can you get such cheap entertainment.

I had no money while going to law school in the early 90’s but I’ll never forget the fun I had playing Funhouse at the local bowling alley. Went there a lot for cheap fun

#1362 1 year ago
Quoted from The_Pump_House:

While this is a popular and common trope (people drink when they are happy and even more when they are sad) it is not true.
Overall "drinkers" decline during a recession and "binge drinking" increases. Beer sales fall, liquor sales climb. Home consumption rises, on premise consumption falls. In 2008 on premise volume fell 2.2% and off-premise climbed 2.9%. Total alcohol sales didn't reach 2007 numbers until 2012. That said, the decline in alcohol sales from 2008-2012 pales in comparison to the decline in other economic sectors.
While consumption might be "recession proof" for a brewer or distillery, anyone operating under dramshop license understands that this isn't good.

Net net. Companies like STZ are Great Recession hedges.

Dram shop has been around since the 80’s and that liability doesn’t change

If more people drink offsite, then less liability for operators because sales are shifting

We aren’t going into a “recession” anytime soon.

As for the last one which lasted all of 33 days in 2020, it didn’t matter much

#1364 1 year ago
Quoted from The_Pump_House:

Actually, Dram is a unit of measure for alcohol dating back to the 18th century. "Dram Shops" were any British establishment selling alcohol. "Dram Shops" have been around in the United States, well... since before we were the United States.
So, while Dram Shop liability may be a more recent thing, that wasn't what I was referring to.
Circling back to your reply to LTG: While constellation might be a good place to park your money during a recession, it's little consolation to a dram shop location where your business is predicated on sales that shift away to off premise consumption during a recession.
By it's very nature "more people drinking offsite" is bad for business. And going back to your comment on actual dram shop liability, less total drinkers and more "binge drinking" is also bad for business liability.

It’s a minuscule difference. And Dram shop laws didn’t exist, here in Texas, until 1986

And Illinois? A social host law went into effect in 2013

And we aren’t going into a 2008-09 type recession.

In Texas? The Covid effect was short lived and minimal

I’d start a barcade today if one was thinking about it if it’s their passion

Gotta have the liquor to go with the pins.

#1368 1 year ago
Quoted from The_Pump_House:

Again, I was not referring to liquor liability laws (Illinois Dram Shop Act establishing liability dates back to the 1870's btw, Social Host liability relates to hosting a party in your house or similar circumstances not covered by a liquor license). My usage of "Dram Shop" was strictly to reference places with on-premise liquor licenses.
At this point, I'm just waiting for COGS to come back in to some semblance of order. Additionally, not having 10% of your order not show up on the truck because it's not available would be a boost too.
Couldn't speak to the "Covid effect" in Texas but the effect here (across multiple industries) with regard to labor is still present and quite pronounced.
Texas does have that dope ass TABS reporting system though. Any type of research on doing a pro-forma for a liquor license in Texas is considerably easier than any other state.
[quoted image]

Supply chain issues will get better 2nd half

No doubt Texas is a great place to do business and the TABC at the direction of the Governor, helped to ease Covid issues.

Drive thru alcohol was implemented early on to help establishments survive.

Isn’t it all about “location, location, location”?

#1390 1 year ago
Quoted from Bud:

How do you come to that conclusion? Predictions are derived from indicators i.e dark clouds and high winds usually indicate a storm is coming. If a lot of people see those indications and state them, the odds for rain don’t drop. Opinions and observations have zero bearing on the storm.

Sorry for stepping out of line, it’s sunshine and lollipops, nothing to see here. We all know you are the gate keeper and official for all things price wise from pinball to economy and everything in between.

Well, recession is defined as “a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced.” GDP is not the only indicator but is what’s generally used.
I guess trade and industrial activity are up. Weird how so many items are out of stock or prices have skyrocketed in everything from groceries to raw materials for manufacturing due to lack of supply.

Most commodity prices have rolled over last week.

A “recession” is defined as 2 consecutive quarters of declining GDP growth.

It lasted 33 days in 2020.

It’s difficult to have a recession when there is full employment. Layoffs are happening in some sectors and hiring in others like travel and leisure.

This is a run of mill bear market sell off and if a technical recession comes in 2023 then it’s likely to be shallow and not as a result of structural issues.

In other words, it’s not the end of the world

Gotta love it when Lawyers do Economics.

Back on topic of TS4 seems like the flippers/scalpers are in a recession.

Lol. Yeah that’s a good thing!

#1398 1 year ago
Quoted from guitarded:

If you do the math on 2 Quarters of Negative Growth and come out with the answer : The Recession only lasted- 33 Days!...
not for me you don't.

The Bear market lasted 33 days.

#1403 1 year ago
Quoted from Bud:

That’s not what Merriam Webster or Oxford’s defines a recession.
I’m not a lawyer but I do know words do mean things. Just because measuring GDP is “generally” a way a recession could be defined it’s not the one and only way. A recession is a period of reduced economic activity plain and simple.
Can’t change peoples opinions and observations, mine says recession. I know this is a TS4 thread so I’ll leave it at that.
I do have a TS4 on order and hope my kiddos love it, kinda glad the rumors say it’s easy. My kids need an easy and fun pin to play and learn on. TS4 is also a theme the whole family is onboard with so it’s a win-win either way the mop flops.

Look at it however you want. A “period” could mean a day, week, month, year. This is why it’s quantified.

And why you don’t see anyone say we are currently in a “recession”. We might have just seen peak inflation and commodity prices are rolling over. It might “feel like it” to some. Others it’s a boom time!

And good luck on your TS. . It is what it is and I’ll leave it at that

Not that my opinion should matter to you or anyone else, but Ice is a bright guy who knows what he’s talking about.

Hey thanks Mike, I do qualify as a “pinball dummy” though!

It’s all good. Fun times. Back to TS.

#1509 1 year ago

Did you read the article? It’s not “official” yet. But probably will end up there. Who knows.

That’s how it works, just finished the 2nd quarter. I don’t think it really matters that much if it’s -1% or +1%. Doesn’t really feel any different does it.

The media is going to hate to have to report that data so maybe it will miraculously turn into a +1%.

#1511 1 year ago
Quoted from guitarded:

They dislike it so much they are already out in front, softening the impact.
Again. Recession is a backwards indicating measure. When you reach the metric that indicates an undeniable trigger, you have already been in recession for 6 months.
You aren't informing anyone of anything but your positive outlook for a future that is not in the numbers.

Yeah there is no “softening the impact” of the word itself. Notice where the story is, Fox News, maybe you get my point?

It can be a self fulfilling prophecy.

This one if it’s “technical” now? A run of the mill bear market and mild recession.

As supply chain issues get better in the second half, China re-opening, and inflation coming down we should return to positive GDP growth.

And there are still 2-1 job openings out there and “full employment”.

#1513 1 year ago
Quoted from DakotaMike:

Played TS4 again today at the local pinball arcade. I didn't find it nearly as fun as the first time I played it.
Theme aside, I think I like Wonka and Dialed In better. They're more fun to shoot.

TS4 is more of a movie for adults. The other 3 are the kiddie ones. A lot of deep empty-nester stuff in TS4.

The more I play Wonka the more I like it.

Hopefully TS4 is not the opposite scenario for folks Mike.

Is it just layout or overall “fun factor” for you

#1552 1 year ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Not sure why you've chosen this stance as a hill to die on...
Pixar movies are not made for small children. For example - their last movie, Turning Red, is about menstruation & puberty.

Now that’s a shocker!

So Pixar has the 13 yr olds covered. Great.

Quoted from Ballderdash:

How much time have you spent in a casino? The wonka and woz A/V is a dead ringer for the slot machines of the same IP.

And I like it because I’ve spent plenty of time in the casinos.

GNR. Just a phenomenal experience playing pinball.

For the tournament players? I don’t care about that.

Don’t know but if TS matches up to Wonka or GNR overall then should be happy campers

#1790 1 year ago
Quoted from rai:

Also if they had made just 500 CE they would be harder to find, but at 1K units they are more common than any Stern LE (except Godzilla which cost $4K less).

At that price, 1,000 is WAY too many. At any price really

And the “LE” edition? It’s time to drop that term with JJP. Yes it’s “limited” to 5,000, so what.

Also, going backwards from GNR in terms of the wow factor imo, charging more and producing more “CE’s” was a HUGE mistake

I think they are paying for it now but the bigger price will paid in the future.

Deliver the CEs months later on a weak offering equals big problem

A better theme might help a bit next time BUT they are in BIG trouble if they don’t significantly raise the bar with what’s in the game or simply reduce the price again.

Tough to put the horse back on the barn.

I’ll say the same thing about Stern. It takes the #1 game in Godzilla to maintain a price above retail for “LEs”.

RUSH, a very good game, ranked in top 20, won’t hold its retail price just like TS. There are a lot of LEs for sale by the flippers and others.

For most titles, 1,000 is WAY to many and they are bastardizing the whole “collector” market and it will come back to haunt all of them.

CGC? The FOMO is there because they take FOREVER to announce a new game and then deliver.

Cactus LE will be my last game from them. There you go CGC, don’t even need a survey monkey

#1835 1 year ago

Yeah that guy Karl, watched a bunch of his streams with TS4.

I don’t ever want to be that good of a player. It would make every game get old fast.

#1857 1 year ago
Quoted from DakotaMike:

So....will the "Toy Story is a huge success, and a big win for Pat and JJP" people finally admit they are wrong?
Weeks after release, you can easily find multiple Toy Story CE's for MSRP or less on the market. And that's without even looking that hard, or calling around to Distros.
[quoted image]
And there are multiple LEs listed for below MSRP as well, including ones ready to ship.
[quoted image]
Just admit it people, TS4 is nowhere near the hit GNR was. And in a lot of ways is a miss. If you personally like or love it, then great, enjoy it and be happy with your $12k to $15k purchase. But clearly the market-at-large doesn't feel the value is there at JJP's suggested MSRP, so let's not pretend that TS4 is something that it's not.

Hey I’ll admit it. They F Ed up on the pricing.

Went from 500 to 1,000 and raised the price.

A big mistake. The market at that level is weak.

FOMO gone at JJP, Spooky and Stern LEs coming.

Rush LEs are plentiful!

#1859 1 year ago
Quoted from smokinhos:

Not so sure comparing GnR to TS4 is a good thing. GnR had crazy hype and has since kinda faded on gameplay. I know many collectors that have one and moved on pretty quick. There's plenty GnR available at $9500 and $11k new. If TS4 was $11k new and selling used at $9500, this would be a very different conversation. I dont love TS4, but its fun and seems on the surface a pretty easy shooter. But it needs more code, and with more objectives and modes might sneak into more homes..

GNR is a great pin experience.

Try picking up a CE at discount. Not happening.

It’s also gorgeous

500 at $12,500? You got something.

The “LE” is not an LE. Period

#1865 1 year ago
Quoted from smokinhos:

I agree that GnR is gorgeous, and i have no interest in a CE, i think the LE is by far the best version and price point. I love GnR as a band, but not this version of it. Every time I consider snagging one I end up with something else..

You are missing out. In a home environment with upgraded Pinwoofer speakers.

And JJP sold a ton of GNR. Biggest seller exceeding WOZ. They thought TS4 would top it. Misguided

Its heaven.

Pinwoofer take Aerosmith to another level. Every pin really. Have em nearly all

#1866 1 year ago
Quoted from zermeno68:

Agree with a code update could push demand for the game. See Wonka CE for example. Most know they could easily get picked up at local distro….
I think after the last big code dump it polished off the code and improved it by a big margin.
That is what I’ve gathered from folks on different platforms as I do not own a CE.
Can TS4 CE have the same outcome?? I agree it’s tough with 1,000 units

That’s true too. Glad to have picked up a Wonka CE on close out.

It might take a few years to have market absorb TS4

#1880 1 year ago
Quoted from smokinhos:

I am sure you are right.. but with this.. I feel like I'm not missing out...
[quoted image][quoted image]

You are. Trust me.

I’ve owned a lot of pins. Still do.

AC/DC included. Sold it. Will get it back.

GNR is the best fun rock out pinball experience ever

If you want to be a tournament player then go with with some other Lyman or Elwin ruleset.

Have plenty of those.

Nothing like GNR, with all the band assets, light show etc. period

#1894 1 year ago
Quoted from jimwe5t:

With distributors stocked to the gills with TS4 units no one wants, it can’t be on the line still. Tooling up for the Dogfather is my guess…

There’s my buddy Jimmy West. Lol

Jimmy doesn’t put his games up publicly due to potential ridicule.

Yeah. Say what you want. Anybody.

GNR is a pinball experience masterpiece.

I have a GZLE. #1 pin. It’s a great shooting nerd out pin.

That’s is gone LONG before GNR.

Might be time for Jimmy and Ho’s to move on? I know Jimmy will never spit the bit. Epic JJP hate

#1896 1 year ago
Quoted from rai:

I agree, most who wanted a CE would have easily got one on sale day 1. They were not hard to find, so if I didn’t want one then, I’m really not going to want one now at MSRP. It’ll be a huge discount for sure from the would be scalpers. The scalpers will get scalped on this pin. Non-refundable deposits indeed.

Genius move Rai. Lol

#1904 1 year ago
Quoted from smokinhos:

Easy there Goose.. everyone gets to have their say... even if they don't agree with you.
That's your decision to let GZ go. GnR won't get any better. GZ is already #1, and still may get more code. GnR has been weighed, measured, and found wanting...

Really like my GZLE Ho! not letting it go.

GNR doesn’t have the nerd factor going for it. As far as being “weighed”, it’s coming in at #14. Doesn’t need to get any better.

AC/DC at #21 must really suck and suffer from “wanting”. Lol

Not that any of it matters with rankings, it doesn’t. Only my rankings matter. And yours for what you like.

You can go back to shitting on TS4 now

#1906 1 year ago
Quoted from zermeno68:

I will have to say GZ theme did nothing for me... the various B/W scenes with cheesy old school fighting scenes made me laugh often.
The shots, layout, and use of the tech was so FRESH! That alone made me come back to the pin to play it even not liking the theme.
That will be the same for me with TS4. Ended up not liking its theme execution, but the game is fun to play. I'll never beat it as I only intend to play it on location.

Same here. Agree with that. Both themes just ok.

Theme #1 for me. As good as Jurassic Park is, another Elwin masterpiece. Won’t match up to pins like Elvira, Alien and STH for me

#1910 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

I'm a huge music pin fan, but just couldn't fall in love with GNR (owned one for ~6 months). For me, Rush is so much more fun to play. No doubt GNR is sexier, but the rules, scoring and shot choreography (i.e. how a shot feels) are just sad. Album modes and Slash solo pathetic. Sure, there is stuff to like about it, but much more stuff to be disappointed in. Ambitious effort that just falls short of greatness. In theory, this game could be fixed with a major software revision.

Yep.

You are one of the few vocal critics of the game that actually owned it. Sometimes it just doesn’t click. That’s why Iron Maiden left.

I could care less about the rules and scoring like you have for this game. Although eskaybee has tried to point out where you are incorrect from that standpoint.

He’s a player of GNR, I’m just looking for fun factor and it’s one of the best out there.

Scoring? Plenty of other pins for that. TWD, BM66, Elvira, STH, JP are some of my favorites.

Shot choreography? It has a pretty good layout.

You are playing a rock concert with an awesome light show, sound with pin woofers and band footage and integration to the pin.

Rush is really good too. Just not the same experience and I have too many Stern pins as it is that feel similar.

#1923 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

I am vocal (no argument, but I've met a lot of other players/collectors that feel exactly the same way. When I was selling it, I had several guys come over (with nice collections), that just couldn't pull the trigger on buying it because they didn't vibe with the gameplay. Despite it's wow factor (and popularity), I think it's pretty polarizing amongst players. But I totally agree that it's an "experience" pin, and I'm sure it would be popular at parties. Since I don't throw many pinball parties, my collection is pretty focused on me.
Btw...I think you might be confused about what I mean by "Shot Choreography". First of all, I agree with you on the layout...I actually liked many of the shots. My problem is with the sound (and shaker) effects when a shot is made. On Rush, when you hit the time machine, the audio/shaker give you this awesome feedback that make hitting the shot really satisfying. For some reason, JJP games in general don't click with me in terms of the shot/audio/shaker harmony. Had DILE for several years, but decided to sell it largely due to "meh" audio. I just think the team at Stern is firing on more cylinders than the JJP team...and TS4 (the topic of this thread) couldn't be a better example.

I agree with that. Stern is def firing on all cylinders with the exception of a few. I have a lot of them like you do.

And while I can’t really comment on TS4 other than what I’ve seen on the streams, it looks like fun and most of the criticism is around “pricing”.

I think everybody would agree with that. It’s tough to compare with GNR, Wonka for that matter, and they raised price.

Quoted from snaroff:

No way. Pirates popularity was because it's actually a really ambitious game with a lot of mechanical/kinetic fun!

And some people don’t vibe with that game, think it’s boring and soul less. And a few friends that think it’s the best ever.

#1933 1 year ago
Quoted from snaroff:

Maybe, but I think the pricing belly aches are born out of the lackluster offering in general (which has been well covered on Pinside). If TS4 was outfitted more like WH20, very few would be upset. Considering WH20 is over 3 decades old, that's kind of pathetic.

And I’ve got a beautiful restored WH20. That game today with updated lighting, sound (which is not good) and LCD would crush it.

Look at the success CGC is having with Cactus.

That could be an epic CGC topper!

IM is a top game in every regard. Dougy ol buddy, you never stop bashing Stern slyly/sideways do you… We get it, you’re a top cheerleader for JJP fanboy club and have epic hate for Stern. It’s a wonder you’ve not sold your remaining Stern machines. Why not just keep one, since their all similar/same, according to you??? Lol!!!

Jimmy, take a peek at how many Stern games I own. I’ve got a lot of great ones. I sold IM primarily because I spent more time fixing it than playing it. And it didn’t vibe with me.

I am looking to get an AC/DC back though

I’m hardly a JJP “cheerleader”. I hated DI because of the theme.

I’m a huge GNR cheerleader and Wonka is really good too.

My buddy Dougy (Ice), rationalizes all his JJP/DR/JPOP fanatical purchases. Whether they deliver or not, he defends/promotes as if a stock holder or sycophant…Stern be dammed. Lol

Wtf are you talking about Jimmy.

I love my Stern pins.

Let’s see, JJP, Spooky, CGC, Stern, AP, PB, yep I like em all!

As for TS4, it looks like fun.

Now why don’t you run along back to the JJP playfield thread or wherever else you are “trolling” these days.

#1973 1 year ago
Quoted from smokinhos:

I have to agree with you that TS4 can be fun. I just question the long term, especially in a small collection like mine.

Pretty much true with any game no?

Played my TWDLE again this weekend. My most played game in the past and one of my favorites.

Got to Last Man Standing again. But only Good for a play now here and there versus every day.

#1976 1 year ago
Quoted from jimwe5t:

Peace troll brother Dougy, as you haven’t appeared to be loving much of anything Stern. Most any pinball game is “fun”, no one is debating that, but at the price/value equation, most everyone questioning most anything JJP.
Your beloved JJP has backed themselves into a major corner. There is no bigger morons on the planet than JJP. They always do a great job shooting themselves in the foot. Now what’s next? By now they know they’ve way over priced their pitiful offerings, so the next machines is in a very tough spot. Maybe they’ll innovate like, doubling cheap LED’s, add double Dogfather cake toppers, increase and triple the multiballs to make the sycophants happy….typical JJP moves.

Yeah JJP overpriced TS4 big time. What I’ve heard is a bit of GNR arrogance got to them.

They did the math and thought hmmmm, if we can sell 5,000 GNRs then we can sell at least that many TS4’s with that license.

And pinball pricing going nuts, we can get away with hiking the price across the board AND raise the quantity of CEs.

Said it plenty of times since the launch. It’s a terrible move on their part.

Now Stern is doing the same thing on a lesser scale.

1,000 LEs at these increased prices is just too many for MOST titles.

Rush, as good as many think it is, are plentiful in LE and will be forever. It’s also going to experience an eventual “loss”.

For people that care about that type of thing aren’t gonna be happy as the wheels get a little wobbly.

As for Stern, I still have, because I love them, TWDLE, BM66LE, GBLE, ASLE, WPT, MUNSTERSLE, JPLE, STHLE, GZLE, EHOHCE, and a BEATLES gold game. And I’ll be buying BOND and JAWS regardless. Is that enough Stern love for you? So quit making shit up!

Now just for you Jimmy, since you are on top of these sort of things and I assume you can do basic MATH, what do you see when you look at my collection of pins?

I buy what I like, have for years, sell what I don’t like most people. But if you want to scoreboard it then there you go buddy! Post yours up so we can see how smart you are.

#1979 1 year ago
Quoted from zaphX:

I wouldn't say arrogance as much as miscalculation.
We all saw the Guns CEs going for 20K on the open market, raising the price is a natural response to that.
I would argue though that Guns blew everyone away.

GNR still blows me away. Wonka great too for me. So is WOZ at $6500.

Why can’t we get JJP to go back to that pricing. Lol

I know what they tried to do with a couple of big game distros like Betson. Betson said F U.

Had insider tell me they thought TS4 sales would exceed GNR.

A “miscalculation” and/or a bit of “arrogance”?

ALL NIB pinball has reached heights too high, especially in a period of high inflation and a country in a “recession”.

The flippers that drive the FOMO are just about done and that is just beginning to show up.

I don’t really care, I just want to see great games/themes made.

#2029 1 year ago
Quoted from PtownPin:

This is true, but there were only 500 CE's versus 1000 TS's and the price was $12.5K and not $15K .... the overall GNR CE package (+ extra mech) was far superior to TS, which basically has a shitty topper, glitter play field, and red powder coating (looks like the same as Wonka ?)

The color choice of red powder coating on the CE was a big miss. Come on. After Wonka.

The run from 500 to 1,000 is huge. Stern included.

I’m giving the TS4CE to one daughter of mine after I play it for a while.

Middle daughter is a big STH fan so she’s gonna get that one.

Youngest one likes NBAFB! Still in school though and I can’t give that one up.

Why don't you go to the owner's thread this is the general commentary thread about Toy Story 4. If you want roses and lollipops go elsewhere. Of course you've been told to do that before but you'd rather sit here and cry about JJP and how bad-ass they are, even though they're not.

#2046 1 year ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

They are pretty typical PL layouts. Upper flipper with 2 shots just like everything else. DI is a little diff'rent with the ramp placements.
As been said a million times the Sim Card shot sucks because it's poorly designed. It's not a tough shot at all, it's that the flipper can't be set up correctly. Powerful enough to make the side ramp and the shot bounces past the hole and back, weakened enough to make the shot easily then you can't make the ramp.
This isn't the Gem shot that is difficult but can be learned, it's the design of it.
EDIT: Even great people make mistakes. The clock in TZ is a completely shitty design for example.

I can attest to that. I’m great and make mistakes all the time.

- I buy pins to play, not to flip.
- If I sell it's because I didn't like the game, or I got what I wanted out of it playwise, or I upgraded to a higher tier.
- I'm perfectly ok losing money on a game that I enjoyed, because that enjoyment has value too.
I probably should have gone with LE on this one so I could get it quicker, play it, and eat less loss if it gets mastered quickly.
I'm sure I will feel good about the CE once it's in hand.
And yes, I35 is the suck. Our last 30 mins home took almost 2 hrs.

Quoted from ZMeny:

The category is Toys & Innovation. For me, a C+ isn’t a good rating. It’s not horrible. It’s not bad. It’s mixed.
When I compare this game’s mechs and innovation to other games, I come up with a C+. It’s the lowest grade I’ve given to a JJP game in this category.
I really like the jump ramp. I’m not aware of many games if any with that mech. And mechs are great and all, but this is a mech that feels great. It doesn’t get old for me.
The lighting of this game outperforms nearly that of any pinball machine ever made. So regardless, I’ve gotta give credit where it’s due.
Other things I like include dedicated animation on a second LCD screen. Plus, while I could leave it, the large playfield lcd screen is an industry first I believe (minus p3 playfield), and they coded a virtual pinball machine into it (with working pop bumpers feedback). Again, not my cup of tea, but as I try to be as fair as I can, it’s still innovative. Physical ball lock, mechanical kickback, incredible rgb integration, spinning wheel, pop up troll, opto spinners, large 27” display, another physical ball stop, yeah it certainly has enough to clear at least a C+ for me personally. But again, this is merely my analysis.

No need to adjust it Zach.

Don’t let the dummies wear you down

So you wanted it to be linear? That would be super boring. The incentive to reach was to play, get points, complete the mode, and advance to the next adventure. You’ve also got tons of dimensions which all have fun/funny gameplay effects & allow you to collect mega seeds - another fun goal. Plus Meseeks, plus Gromflomite MB. We don’t care that you don’t like the game - but it’s just a flat out lie & insult to Erik’s great work to call it “paper thin” and that you see everything in an hour. It’s not just the $15k price tag on the CE it’s the fact that they tried to sell 1,000

Even at 500 this game would sit.

The Wonka CEs had to get “closed out”, I bought one years later from the distro that scooped up what was left at JJP.

What did they think would happen? Guess they figured the pinball market had changed that much in 3 yrs. It has but you still have to deliver and you were already at $12,500!

I don’t see how they follow through with producing 1k units that people won’t want at those prices.

I stayed in because I’ve done well with my distro over the years.

Get past the price and I’m sure I’ll have some fun with the game.
