Pivoting head is a success! I just need to add travel stops! And feet! I just need to find body as I misplaced it.

This is so happening! Very quick video of the head in action. Might change scale of slinky rings. I just dont have any other size in the shop.. but I say hell yes..I am ordering more of these slink toys. If your in for this please let me know.

Have you considered adding grommets where the wire feeds into his head? I feel like the plastic may wear and break after constant pivoting without reinforcement. Looks amazing!

This is just the figure out if it can work part. Yes the plastic would destroy itself. I will most likely do plastic bushings or metal washers in the head. And I will have plate or rod under the chin as well to absorb impact. Once I get the look and function down then the next part is creating that solution. But I appreciate the thought and comments.

Simple, yet just the right amount of flare to make this game a little better to satisfy the “toy” interaction of TS.

Great Job!!

Thank you. I do not understand the lack of creativity with wireforms or ramps on a 12k machine.

I want to try to make the transition out of the ramp out of plastic. The piece between the ramp and divertor. And I am working more on the head today.

Thanks for the interest and I am keeping track. Once I finalize the design (mostly the head) I want to play test it for a week prior to shipping any out. I will keep adding pictures and videos as it progresses.

Looks like rubber grommets in the head make the most sense. And I have a limiting mech figured out. The heads pivoting arm will be inserted into welded washers on the support arms to each side. The J hook will be on the back side and when the head raises to the max height the arm will make contact with the left support arm and keep it from flipping over or hitting the glass.

Added a bumper stop under the chin. Will test this out first.

Looking really cool so far! I think you could even take it a little bit further with the realistic slinky dog. You can buy, or even have made, slinky coil spring wire in just about any dimension you want. I was able to find Slinkys out there that are in a few different sizes from 1.5" to 2.75" in diameter. You could get one of those, replace the rings you've got there already with a genuine slinky spring and have a couple small, clear plastic tabs mounted to it in a couple spots so that the ball lightly taps them on the way down the wireform. They shouldn't be so stiff that they slow down the ball all that much, but enough to animate the slinky in a really cool way. The head tilting would also send a nice wave down the slinky, too. You'd most likely have to weld the slinky on at the front and back of the wireform, but you could most likely use two extra wire rails to lock it into place and keep it upright, but in a manner that allows it to move freely.

Either that, or you use the mounting points of the dog head and turn it into a pivot point where the head moves forward a little bit when the ball hits it and that is what would animate the slinky.

It's such a neat idea, you've got MY creative juices flowing! No matter what have fun building!

I got my first 10 Slinks today which is good because I lost parts for the first already. I have a welded ring in the front and 2 in the back. I mounted the 4 legs and a half assed rear section, pun intended. I have the toys slinky installed over the guide rails and zip tied at each end. I want everything to be able to be cleaned. If the zip tie is cut you can slide the slinky to one end and clean the other. The j hook limiting guide works great. Progressing..i want to figure out a few more things such as the front body…

Making a cross bar below slinks face that will take the ball impact and I am putting his feet on the pivot arms. I want it to look like hes throwing the ball. I will be adding tan heat shrink tubing over the leg posts. I am also trying to refine the body.

Thanks Ed. This new under chin bar improves the ball strike and I could simplify the limiter. I really like making mechanical mechs.

Great work, I'm interested. Is there any chance you can have the ramp plated to hide the heat stains from the welding?

#87 1 year ago

Amazing work @LoganPinball, exactly what this game needs.

#88 1 year ago

Thanks for the comments.

I have been asked a few times about the price. I charge $50 an hour plus materials. To make the wireform with Slink takes 3 hours. I need to make another transition plate (ramp to wireform) to figure out total costs. My guess is another 2 hours for the plate. I tried a plastic transition yesterday and that takes longer then the metal to form, so sticking with metal for costs.

Sundays I work on TNA ramp mod. So I will get back to toy story during the week.

Slink toy $12
Stainless rods $8.25
Stainless plate $14.00
Argon. $3.40
Labor to be determined. Most likely 5 hours

Its stainless steel and everything can be sanded off and polished. Not sure what your seeing? I will post close ups when I take this back off.

I started Loganpinball on instagram and I have put up everything I have made so its easy to see all the projects in one place. If this interests you please check it out. And the play video of the Slink wireform hit 7600 views in the first hour on instagram.. Insane.

This should have been part of the CE package! Congratulations on a job well done. I hope you sell many sets!

If you could somehow paint or cover the white inner ear to make it look brown, it would make that area look so much better. Totally not necessary. Just an observation.

Thanks.
I got a metal brake bender to do the channel ramps faster. I was using a very small one for the others. We will see how this one goes for toy story..
And I picked up threading tools to put threads on the skink body atatchments so they survive the rattling. They will be thread locked as well.

The outer support channels I ruined 3 sets of plates trying to get it right.. I had to cut out a section of a handbrake to get it to work. Going for hardware to put this to use. It works and makes the bends I need on edges. I am still trying to get the plate shaping down to a manageable time, hopefully this is it. Believe it or not the slink part is easier then this channel.
I am trying….

And its not working to what I need… I am taking a break from this. I keep ffing up stainless plates.
