There is a pinmame build that works with P-ROC, which should allow you to play the original game on your physical machine without needing to swap boards back. It generally works pretty well, unless you have playfield mechs that need very tight timing controls.

Quoted from noitbe1:

thanks Mark for your help regarding the PIMAME P-ROC use with original ROM. No need to switch board anymore.
It's even possible to run different version of the ROM from the computer: great tool

You're welcome - lots of people have added functionality to that build over the last few years, it works quite well in most machines now. There is also a "launcher" program somewhere, which displays a splash DMD screen allowing you to launch your custom game, or choose to run Pinmame with a specific ROM version.

Quoted from noitbe1:

MPF no longer support good old dmds ... unfortunatly

I ought to jump in with a quick correction. MPF does support traditional DMD with P-ROC. It's the next generation pyprocgame (the HD version, and the SkeletonGame framework that uses it) which dropped DMD support.

Glad to help Getting the best values for the PWM on/off is just a case of experimenting I think.

Is your GI using normal bulbs or LEDs? I guess normal bulbs would flicker less....

Anyway, have fun!

Looks good. It's always really difficult to record - the camera frame rate and auto exposure don't make it easy!
