I’m nearly finished with my first complete restoration of a pin...completely tore down and restored a non working mess of a TOTAN. As I have gotten nearly every issue taken care of, I have a few question I’m hoping I can get some help with.
The first 2 I’m pretty sure I know how to fix, but would like confirmation as this is the only TOTAN I’ve ever seen let alone played.
1. On the right ramp, my game had a very short, 1/2” hex spacer in the middle (pic 1 And 2). I’m guessing this should be about 1 1/4”, but this is the one that was there when I got it. I’m guessing this explains the crack on that point on the ramp. Could someone confirm the correct size of this spacer?
2. Are new rubbers thicker than originals, or did I order the wrong kind? The left shooting star cage hits the rubber to the top left of it and gets stuck (Pic 3). I’ve stretched it as tight as I can, but it still rubs. I’ve gone ahead and ordered new silicone ones hoping they are thinner, but maybe I’m buying the wrong kind or size??? Forgive My newbie ignorance here
3. The final issue has me scratching my head. The only error I haven’t been able to resolve is “left ramp magnet broken.” I’ve found a few threads, but none have helped me figure this out. I did have a blown f104 fuse, replaced it with a 6amp fast blow as recommended in a couple of threads, but no change (the fuse has not blown again). I’ve tested q65, which I believe is the correlated transistor, and it also tests fine. Finally, I replaced the magnet coil itself...still no change Any suggestions on where to look next?
The final few pics are of the transformation so far...I still have to figure out the fireball magnet and strip, refinish, and decal the apron, but then this one is ready for the game room.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve had such a fun time learning about pins and restoring this one, I can’t wait to finally get to play it!
Thanks,
Mike
