Hi guys,

Finally after a couple of years I convinced a friend to sell his Totan, and it’s home, very well preserved.
I just got one issue with the DMD and rottendog board, at brown wire it measures between 20-80V, clearly a big fluctuation, any ideas? Perhaps the two transistors?

The DMD shows some type of ghosting in the back.

Pin 1 154
Pin 2 143
Pin 4 0
Pin 5 0
Pin 6 5.11
Pin 7 11.7
Pin 8 60-20

Thanks

The pin 8 , 62 volts is reading funny for sure. And pins 1 and 2 are way high. Should be 12 volts between 1 and 2 and should be around 40 volts lower. Looks like time to rebuild the high voltage section.

Make sure you are using a quality meter and are on DC voltage and well connected to ground.

Cheers

Thanks,

So it seems the two Lm337 and Lm 317 transistors on the rottendog board. Regarding the meter I'm using an Agilent U1272A.

Its always best to rebuild the entire section when the HV goes bad. Its only a few dollars to replace everything in the HV section and get a 'new' board good to go for many years.

The components have a hard life. Throw Rottendog an email before you begin though. They may have a kit for you. If it was a factory board set go to Ed at great plains for HV kits.

Completely agree, I will send Rottendog an email for further instructions.

I will let you know how it ends for sure.

If you go with a ColorDMD, then you would not have to worry about fixing the high voltage section.

But the game would be fixed.

Well guys,

Totan has been fixed! It was the transformer jumper connection, wrong voltage all the way..... pretty sure was the factor the original AV burned......
