Quoted from Markharris2000:

Has anyone been able to make cliffy’s bazaar scoop protector work with the scoop? Having the same issue now, not enough clearance between the two metal surfaces for a ball to fit.

Just got my Tales a coupe weeks ago and enjoying all the repairs, mods and fixes.

I did not add a cliffy, but here are some pics of my bazaar scoop tig welded. I added a pic that shows you can bend it up if desired with channel locks. I would remove the scoop for better control on the bend etc.

I'm troubleshooting a friend's TOTAN and it has the same problem. We did find that the rubber ring to the left of the post (which isn't in the manual) was stretched considerably, but replacing it didn't help. Still working on that one.
Related to the left orbit - when lock is lit on the left orbit and you hit the shot, where is the ball supposed to go? The post goes up, and the ball either continues around or drops into the pops, but you never get credit for a lock.

The left orbit diverter should keep the ball on the inner (tiger) loop, the magnet should grab the ball and release the ball to saucer / hole for the lock.

The popup post in the upper right corner was not working when I first got the pin a month ago. Fixed the broken wire and the "Roc" mode now completes since the ball is pushed to the bumpers, then the final ramp shot. If you post is working, I do not have any suggests currently.

Thanks, we didn't even see the loop diverter, and didn't notice it in the manual because it's down with the flipper coils! It looks like the power coil is shorted and the transistor is bad.

Glad you got it figured out. I have learned so much through all the pinside threads that I follow and looking to help as I have been helped so many times.

Ona sad note, I'm finding that the wrong size screws were used on the flipper brackets and some GI light sockets causing small splits in the topside of the playfield. Looks like I may be doing a playfield swap in the future, bummer....

Quoted from Markharris2000:

Did you try bending the COIL bracket foot??? It's not intuitively obvious, but the alignment of the coil bracket to the scoop assembly makes THE WORLD of difference in how the ball exits the scoop because the scoop is much WIDER than the ball by quite a bit. The ball launches fast, and has a ton of play from left to right, which is why the exact location of the plunger hitting the ball matters! That's why I am suggesting that you play with the coil bracket leg and simply bend it ever so slightly to have a huge affect on the trajectory at the exit of the scoop!

Good suggestion, I was thinking the same for the coil bracket...
