Just added TOTAN to my collection and am restoring. Any ideas on the sword wear and the skill shot tarnish of the zinc coated metal. Brass plating? stainless replace- anything?

I need some help with my first TOTAN. In my first pic, is there suppose to be a gap between the swirl ramp and the left magnet ramp ( see circled area). I dont see anything broken??
ALso there was a loose plastic ( see second pic) Can someone tell me where this goes?
