Quoted from Goonie:Welcome to the club. Whatsthestory behind the poster-flyerish looking thing above you game on the wall. Not sure I've seen one of the before.
The poster was actually a "try-out" for the alt translite.... Though I liked so much the picture, I decided to make some adjustments!
Quoted from AlexSMendes:The poster was actually a "try-out" for the alt translite.... Though I liked so much the picture, I decided to make some adjustments!
Quoted from billsfanmd:For such a great pin does not seem like the club has much activity. Prob due to the price and limited ownership. Curious how many people on here still have it or if its just pretty to look at but not long term keeper.
I love mine and it's one of the few I have that I'll never let go..... Have you seen another topic called: "Is Congo now worth a TotAN"? Hilarious.....
Quoted from prajama:Hi and thanks for creating this topic. I included couple pictures of my ToTAN and I think the tiger plastic sits very nicely at the end of the ramp. These pictures are pretty old and some changes have happen since I took these. I also like to keep "key fob" princess in the middle of spiral ramp hanging there, and very rare promo plastic "rocks" is seen right at the lover left ramp (lover picture). Metal ramp posts are hidden under purple post rubbers and purple acorn nuts are used to keep the plastics in place. Led trunk is juiced with extra cobra plastic and there is one half cut post rubber at the bazaar scoop left wall. (makes bazaar scoop a bith harder) All leds, except most of the flash lights, whitch I prefer the old style. Angel eye lights at the top of the pop bumpers. Also a lot of small changes/mods around.

Beautiful machine, but personally, I don't like any "mod" that gets in the way of me viewing the ball flows!
Quoted from cavalier88z24:that is awesome. to expensive for my taste though.
I think the same.... I used to be a "mod" addicted but I realized I was spending too much to gain so little!
Anyways.... this lamp sure is something else!
Quoted from prajama:Ah, this helps my personal pain about my Totan enhancement project. Others are saying too: "Final mod for my TOTAN".
BTW: Have you updated your backbox speakers and cabinet subwoofer ? .... ((Sounds superb!!))
One thing that you should definitely do (if not done yet), is to install sideboard decals.... I bought mine from pinballpt, and they look amazing!
Quoted from cavalier88z24:Mad amusements has the 3 ramp set cheap. 349 i think. With decals.
Don't buy from mad.... he'll take your money and never send your order......
Quoted from calico1997:As one of the previous posters said, be sure to put some fish tank tubing on the skill shot to protect both the ball and the shot parts from getting beat to heck. Costs about a dollar and takes just a few minutes to slice the tubing and put it onto the skill shot. I used a small amount of clear glue to keep it on.

Nice tip!
Quoted from calico1997:On the subject of restorations, I previously posted some stuff a couple years ago about the great ability of "glass paints" to add color back to faded cabinets. My TOTAN had all the red faded on the front coin door and back box. The yellow was also faded on the back box. The glass paints (PEBO brand) are available as paint pens or can be brushed on from a bottle. They are transparent, so it does not cover the line art. Just adds the faded color back. But you have to be careful because these are very runny and take a while to dry. Pics of the before and after on the coin door are enclosed.

Awesome job.... will definitely take a look into it!
Quoted from billsfanmd:are all the totan ramps avail? ...Looking at one that I think has a repaired ramp. Not sure which vendor has them.
I recommend marcospec.com
Quoted from cavalier88z24:Here's a picture of my game complete top to bottom with Cointaker LED's right down to the coin doorIMAG0987.jpg
Gotta love those mirror blades and the colour DMD! Congrats! Beautiful machine!
Now you just gotta get rid of the free play dot!
The dagger/sword goes on one of the ramps above.... I'm not at home so I can't show you a picture right now.
Quoted from dmacy:Amendes is correct. That dagger hides the coil for the diverter. I've seen both one with flames and one without. Not sure which is correct.
Quoted from Wickerman2:Love it...like it better than the alternates
Totally disagree! This original translite drove me off the machine the first time I saw her....
Quoted from Wickerman2:Rescued princess finally...took me a while on account of the fact that I suck.
Good for you... my princess is still captive!!!!
Quoted from bstyles:Someone should make a 3D printed clip-on protector - would be much better than sliced tube.
But not cheaper!
Quoted from Cleveland-Irish:Bought a TOTAN a few weeks ago. I noticed that there is a tiny hole by the pop bumpers. Should there be a post here? It seems like my balls always zoom right through and never seem to hit the bumpers.
Wow.... seems like I have the same problem... I'll take a close look at mine... Any pics welcome please!
Hey Eric, this is where I got mine: ebay.com link: Universal Car Cobra Manual Gear Stick Shift Knob Snake Shifter Lever Red Led Eye
Quoted from frg:TOTANs start at 4k $ - this beauty will be maybe at 6-6.5k $. As for what I have seen on ebay.com this one should be at least 8k $... but maybe I am wrong...
Sorry - I don't get it... there is a magnet...
Oops.... first time I looked at your pics I was using my cell phone and it seemed to me there was just a vulk, instead of the magnet. Seems that as yours being original, the used magnet just looks to be a little dirt, that's all...
Quoted from mollyspub:Sending my TOTAN out tomorrow to get my playfield swapped ! a special thanks to Dave Wilson of phelps ny for making this possible!

What're you gonna do with your old PF?
If you consider selling, I'd buy it!
Quoted from TecumsehPlissken:Anyone have a lead on the ball guide scimitar plastic part #A-20877-1 for the shooter lane I need a new one and cant find it available anywhere
ebay.com link: Tales of the Arabian Nights Pinball Custom Sword Mod
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Amendes, I purchased metal guide for shooter lane from that guy on eBay. It looks great...but...now the ball wear on sword on right side bothers me. Thinking of removing both and having them plated shiny brass! But, game would be down for couple weeks while it's done. I'm going away this summer for a few weeks. I will remove and have that done while I'm gone.
Hey Eric, nice to know..... I didn't purchased it yet (almost, a couple of times), but I was really hoping to get some "user" review first.... Can you share some pics? Is the ball wear tough to clean-up? just wondering....
- Alex
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:My other thoughts, was there a version of this pin that came golded out? Seen several now, is that an upgrade collectors do? Or was there a limited run factory made? Old question I'd love to figure out?
Thanks to anyone who knows.
I had all my metals (skill shot, apron, ramp, legs, lockbar, side-rails...), golden painted by the restorer .... Went for a more "rusty/dirty" look instead of a shiny bright, and though I liked the end result, I guess the "shiny bright" gold fits the machine better!
Sometimes my TotAN presents the same issues, but they all go away after I play one game and reboot the machine!
Quoted from rdbronko73:I'm in the club. I saved it from a guy who was going to part it out. I'm going to start restoring it. Before I get online and order parts, if you have any extra parts laying around and want to sell them. Send me a pm.
How are your ramps? I have a NOS set I bought from Marcos a few years ago when I acquired my TotAN, but turns out the restorer who worked at my machine also bought a new set....
A guy who restored some of my machines went for a different paint job on another TotAN cabinet.... Any thoughts?

Quoted from aeonblack:Green doesn't fit the game at all, in my opinion. But it looks like he did a good job despite that.
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Alex, I like it! Different is good. Nice to customize any machine.
I agree! And... looking again at the pictures, the green is kinda growing on me now...
Quoted from billyrjse:Mendes! This machine right there above is mine. Did you like it?
Yes I did.... I know Luizinho restored because these pics are from his facebook page.... btw, do we know each other?
Quoted from billyrjse:I was reading the posts when suddenly, oops... I know this pinball machine !!!
A unica TotAN no mundo com arvores verdes! Melhorou?
Quoted from billyrjse:It's not true. I have seen at least three machines with green trees. According with the restorer the original green paint is preserved when you remove the coin door. And I still think it is more beautiful!
Dude, though green seems to be the logical color, I've never seen it elsewhere.... Even at the original folder looks like it's blue!
Anyway, I tried looking for the Willians promotional release video for this machine (don't know if it was even made one), but couldn't find it...
Quoted from PeterG:The green, I have never seen one. Also looked up promotional video but can't find it. But the flyer on IPDB shows blue trees and blue letters.
All IPDB pics are blue as well...
Quoted from TopMoose:I learned quickly that the fastest way to start an argument on Pinside is to say something positive about TOTAN. It's my all-time favorite game, but there are some serious haters out there.
Mine will never leave, but you're free to contact my wife when I die!
Quoted from billyrjse:Yes, the flyer is too much blue. But the restorer assures me that the original color is green. And another guy who restores pinballs here also painted the trees of his machine in green. But If the original color is green or blue I think it doesn't matter. Imo, green trees highlights the beauty of the machine. If so customized pinballs wouldn't be valued.
I agree with you... original or not (which I'm pretty sure it's not), I liked the green trees!
Quoted from Pinmeister:Mantis has a replacement that is far superior to the original. You also consider mantis if you need to replace any scoops or other weldments on your games.
Agree!
How do you guys keep the bottom of the genie clean? I just changed mine for a new one, and with a few plays it's dirty already...
Quoted from TopMoose:I use a de-greasing water-based cleaner during my twice-a-year cleanings. It also helps to change balls regularly and make sure to clean the subway - the ball can pick up a lot of grime down there.
Same goes for the lamp post rubbers, which also tend to get dirty fast.
Quoted from Gnatty:Sounds like your game is dirty, clean subway, ball trough, scoop, ramps etc. if you have black rubber, that can contribute too.
Thanks guys, I'll try to review it all soon!
Quoted from rdbronko73:Anyone know where I can get a copy of this?
Maybe...

Quoted from rdbronko73:Need some help on where these two pieces go.
Both are key fobs.
Quoted from rdbronko73:Thanks
Quoted from TopMoose:Yep - my mistake. The round one goes on the game.
Quoted from Pinstein:I added a belly dancer over the target by the scoop on mine by reworking a hawaiian dashboard girl. Now when I hit that target or scoop her hips wiggle.
I dig the glowing ball your genie is about to launch at us!
Unfortunately that's your only mod that I liked!
Quoted from KenEberhardt:I'm shopping my TOTAN and wonder why there is a "hole" in the backboard - maybe light was coming from there on the prototype?
Anyone knows or has a guess of the purpose?
Puzzled why effort and $ was spend on this - I noticed it only after stripping the playfield!
Now I got to check this on mine!
Quoted from Rferullo:Could be a good spot to add a led strip to light up from behind
Sure! It's a nice idea!
Quoted from Yoski:Awesome! Does he mass produce it to sell or is it just for his own collection?
He's currently experimenting and this is his first prototype.... He still plans to led the genie eyes and hand... He'll sell, but he may not "mass produce" it, but take orders by demand instead!
Does anyone know where to get those gold flipper buttons? Just looked at pinballdecals but I guess they've run outta stock...
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:My diverter fixed last night. Thought I'd share more info.
The switch at swirl ramp entrance had rolled up after getting loose. There for the wire was swinging in space. Rolled switch back down, tighten it. Gave game a few plays, easy fix. Credit dot went away playing once it had activated a few times.
Then after another game the upper ball lock switch showing credit dot. I can't win some days.
My TotAN diverter and my JM target that frees way to the glove.... Both every now and then give me credit dots.... Both work fine 100% of the time.... Credit dot goes away.... I learned to not care!
Quoted from dmacy:Does your ramp have a small stainless piece that lifts the ball up closer to the magnet? Not my best picture but that piece should be there and if not may be part of your problem.
I ain't got that problem but my ramp aínt got that piece either.... What's the part-number and/or where can I find it?
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:I just looked at mine.k
I dont have that switch either. Blank hole.
Hmmmm...??
Someone has to know the answer here?
Thanks
My PF does not have this blank switch hole....
Quoted from Dante:Out of curiosity, is yours a US version or Export version?
And for others, how do you tell if you are an early or late production?
I find it funny that it's there, dimpled and ready to go but nothing in the manual that I have found). I wonder if there's a way to incorporate it like the 3rd magnet on TZ.
I really don't know.... curious too...
Quoted from Seatmandan:Here's a photo from high end pins resto that has the same slot
http://christopherhutchins.com/gallery/album573/77_G
We need a pinsider like Coyote on this TotAN thread...
Quoted from jsa:Pinball Decals (PDI). Always loved their products so far.
Wow!!! Joey? Can't believe he actually said that... What a disappointment....
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:In fact, the lean i see might make this wobble in place during game play and never spin correctly.
Exactly!
Quoted from jsa:I seriously have a feeling that "originals" are misshapen and reproductions are symmetrical. Check your genie lamps!
Dude, seriously? There's absolutely no way! Ok, check the Williams flyers then...
Quoted from TopMoose:Yep. My original is bent in the same direction at about the same degree.
Pic or it didn't happen
Quoted from mollyspub:anyone know where you can purchase this VULTURE mod ? » YouTube video. maybe its homemade
Beautiful restoration job (love the gold finish), but too many mods/toys that get more attention than they deserve... and worse: blocking the ball view.... Not my cup of tea anymore.... I'm in the process of "de-modding" all my pins... started with TZ and TAF, and I can definitely state that less is more!
Quoted from erak:I can make you one, if you dont want to do it yourself.
Well, now I want it too!!!
Quoted from erak:New PPS apron coming soon. I can finally get rid of that sticker.
Liked those skulls here and there..
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Ive seen a few blue Genies with tattoo's.
I want to pull mine off and get him inked up.
Tribal bands on bicep, fee other ideas.
What has everyone else come up with?
Wow, that's cool - never seen it - anyone got any pics???
Quoted from lmcdonald111:Yes the Skill Shot sword is great
We found the mounting a bit flimsy ( thin ) and cut the mounting off and used the mounting from the original which included to drill holes carefully in the new sword
Pics please?
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Just got my fireball mod from ERAK. Wow one of the best constructed and best dudes to deal with!
That reminded me that I got to send some paypal money
Quoted from erak:Regarding fireball mods.... But I have enough for all the PM's sent so far. Working on getting them done now.
Should be able to have them all done in the next couple of days. And will let everyone that requested them, know that they are ready.
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:3D Translite for Totan just annouced Today!
Should be amazing, so many things happening in image!
I don't know... Though I love this pin, I think its original translite is ugly as hell....
Quoted from erak:Can you post a pic of it straight on. It looks a bit off, almost like it got bent or twisted. And I wonder if something happened during shipping. If it did I'll send you another fireball to plug in.
Isn't it upside down?
Does anyone have an extra (or not), TotAN flyer and would be willing to part way with? I want one for myself!
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Does anyone have an extra (or not), TotAN flyer and would be willing to part way with? I want one for myself!
Bump
Quoted from Coyote:My guess is that it's a flipper code entry. And you've never entered it in.
Then the million dollar question would be: what's that flipper code?
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Does anyone have an extra (or not), TotAN flyer and would be willing to part way with? I want one for myself!
Let me try another approach...
Would someone be kind enough to send me a hi-res scan of the flyer?
Quoted from Coyote:http://hem.bredband.net/b257182/Cows&Easter.htm#T
All spelled out there. Have fun.
Wow! I sure will!
Quoted from modfather:I wanted to show off a custom paint job I do for the Alladins Lamp on Totan. I clean the existing lamp with alcohol, spray a new metallic gold base coat. Various colors are then hand painted to highlight the details on the factory lamp. Plastic gems of different colors are glued around the edge. A great enhancment to an already beautiful machine. I also have an alternate lamp with some cool details I could show you , if you are looking for something different. This game has been around for awhile, make it look as nice as you can. http://www.modfatherpinball.com
Ugh... just
Quoted from Seatmandan:Every time I see an update for the TOTAN thread, I get excited- Until I click on the link and read that it's only soliciting. Shoot, you could even call it "spamming". This crap needs to be banished to the marketplace ONLY.
Agree... Though that gold work looks very cool, the constant advertising is pretty annoying.
Quoted from erak:Decided to make my own fireball mod today.
It's hooked up to the jackpot insert. So it flashes during multiball start. Then stays solid. And during normal gameplay it's mainly off.
During fireball mode it flashes and stays lit when you strike the genie.
It's made from clear silicone around a de-socketed 555 red super bright flat top led. Then painted in spots with yellow and orange rubberized model paints.
This is such a great pin!
And I finally installed my genie fireball !!!
Thanks a lot Eric!
Quoted from Whitewater:Hi, I installed this recently and now that my magnet never misses a ball the error has gone
I get this error every now and them but since I know it's a common bug, it never annoyed me. Anyway, now I feel compelled to buy this part!
Are you following me pinrob? You never posted on this thread!!! Guess you're a bit jeaulos, huh? Well, mine was way cheaper!
Quoted from snowvictim:Gold conversion in progress... Managed to snatch the gold lockdown bar in decent condition from a bloke in New Jersey for $42. I'm currently debating buying the gold coin door, which is considerably pricey, but my TOTAN is in an impeccable condition so it's a justified investment. Even thinking of stretching myself to a ColorDMD. The only things left are 6 gold pinballs (4 for the game, 2 for the captive balls) to complete it. I think I'll leave the hinges black as even the gold coin door seems a bit overkill to me.
I had that gold balls for awhile at my TotAN... They lost their glow pretty f***ing fast!
Quoted from dts:If anyone is interested in a trade for AFMr, let me know!
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-or-trade-totan-attack-from-mars-remake-le#post-4174354
Well, good luck! TotAN is a far superior game!
Quoted from Whitewater:Hi guys, is it true that there is going to be a 3D translite for TOTAN ?
I guess so... there was some talk a while ago, though I find this art so ugly...
Quoted from ChipScott:Just installed the purple spinning lamp disc and clear rubber side posts from PPS. I like it on this TOTAN. I liked the red disc too with yellow rubbers, but thought a change may be nice.
Looks great!
Quoted from Methos:Is there any lamp reproduction out there that is a step up from the original? My original is beat up.
Would you settle for a NOS? Bought it a few years ago when my machine was being restored but didn't need to use it.
