Anyone have any success painting their lamp. Love the look of the $160 mod but not cost. Hobby gold or paint kit? I sprayed my last one and it changed little. Must be a gold dip of some kind.
All right, just when I get my ramps and pitch dialed in, now the ramp diverted on spiral ramp isn't working during game play and getting an error code. But, it works in test mode.
Any ideas, am I missing activation of a switch to make it work?
Suggestions, comments?

It indeed says ramp diverter broken on test mode after power up. But works during coil tests. What switch activates it? Entrance to spiral ramp?

Have you confirmed it's not getting hung up and it actually works? Mine had a fried coil sleeve so the plunger wouldn't move...it also had the wrong coil.

I did check that one. Works fine in coil test, repeatedly. At power up error code is
" ramp diverter broken"

On TOTAN I noticed that if a switch got skipped over in a sequence the game would give you an error code when something actually worked..I would chuck balls up there until fireball is lit--that's when the diverter will fire when the ball goes up the ramp the next time---so the switch for the diverter will not fire unless fireball is lit...unless you've tried all this of course.
I will check that in switch edges tonight, and do dry run with glass off. Every once in awhile I get genie magnet error code, but once I hit multi ball and it vanishes credit dot for goes away.

My game had this problem when I bought it. It turned out to be the ramp entrance/gate microswitch. It was old/sticky and wouldn't always register (like most old switches do) I replaced it when I replaced my ramps and all is perfect now. I believe it's that switch that tells the diverter to open or not.
Here's a pic.
Sometimes my TotAN presents the same issues, but they all go away after I play one game and reboot the machine!
To be a little more clear- When I bought my game, it would do "diverter broken" MOST of the time, which means SOME of the time, it would work. The culprit was the switch (like mentioned above) at the ramp entrance that was working only SOME of the time.
Replacing the switch fixed it, not re-booting the game.

I just sourced out a spare lamp base in 2012 when I got the game.It thought it wouldn't hold up with all the aggressive hits it takes.(A bit like TAF's bookcase base) I haven't needed it yet...
A guy who restored some of my machines went for a different paint job on another TotAN cabinet.... Any thoughts?

Hahaha! Não é não. Já vi pelo menos umas três fora a minha. Segundo o Luizinho, o original é verde mesmo. Ele disse que assim que tira-se a porta da máquina aparece o verde preservado da pintura que não ficou exposta ao tempo. E na boa... acho que fica mais bonito! 
It's not true. I have seen at least three machines with green trees. According with the restorer the original green paint is preserved when you remove the coin door. And I still think it is more beautiful!

Dude, though green seems to be the logical color, I've never seen it elsewhere.... Even at the original folder looks like it's blue!
Anyway, I tried looking for the Willians promotional release video for this machine (don't know if it was even made one), but couldn't find it...
The green, I have never seen one. Also looked up promotional video but can't find it. But the flyer on IPDB shows blue trees and blue letters.

I learned quickly that the fastest way to start an argument on Pinside is to say something positive about TOTAN. It's my all-time favorite game, but there are some serious haters out there.

Yes, the flyer is too much blue. But the restorer assures me that the original color is green. And another guy who restores pinballs here also painted the trees of his machine in green. But If the original color is green or blue I think it doesn't matter. Imo, green trees highlights the beauty of the machine. If so customized pinballs wouldn't be valued.
