This the subway supposed to be green? What's the best way to get it clear again, besides using a torch.

Never seen it turn green before. Thinking novus1 might be a good place to start. Would like to see some pics of your restoration!

I'm getting bad air balls off of the yellow target near the genie. How do I stop this?

#503 7 years ago

I second the air ball issue. I have never had a machine with more air balls except maybe WCS 94. I love it when the air ball lands on the wire habit trail feeding the right flipper.

#504 7 years ago

I put in a reinforced target like what's use on TZ at the clock target. Really helped mine.

Some TOTAN's used yellow ramps below the playfield. Give it a good cleaning and it should come back.

Thanks. It's yellow again.

Need help on how the glass and translite attach to the backbox lamp holder. Mine was missing and I have nothing to reference it to. Would someone happen to know who sells the white lamp sockets that attach to the backbox lamp holder?

Sorry not white, but yellow and gray.

I bought this game that has spent it's life in mainly bars,on location,as they say. I am nearing the end on a CPR play field swap,my first. What a job. This thread is very helpful. I have always admired the beauty & playing of the game. Thanks for the thread

Pinball life sells the sockets for wpc 95 tube lights. The yellow are GI, the black are flashers. In manual should be the layout for pattern. The trick is building the harness to power driver board.

Thank you, could you happen to take a picture of how the clear plastic shett and translite connect to the white backbox lamp holder. Is it taped, glued or is there the black plastic trim that hold it altogether.

Anyone local to you that could let your trace the holes on yours from theirs?

#516 7 years ago

I have a cracked backbox as a template, just didn't have the translite and plexiglas.

Some pictures of me cabinet restoration. Decided to spray it all black. Playfield is next.

Hey folks, can't wait to join the club!

Getting slowly prepared to do the playfield swap on mine.

In fact, I am currently working out a few issues with the machine before I restore it.
I could use a bit of help.

- Can someone post a close up photo of the coil that drops the ball below the playfield? I'd like to see the wire connections to the coil and the diodes orientation.

- If anyone feels like taking the dagger plastic above the ramp diverter off ... I would love a photo of that coil and it's connections too.
Basically, my problem is that whenever the ball would try to drop into the playfield (in front of the genie), it would go down part way and then reset the machine.

I switched in another Power Board ... and the reseting stopped, however, I have the same problem that the coil drop would only go down part way then Fuse F103 would blow.

Other notes: The lock magnet is currently not working (possibly needs to be replaced). And I noticed that the Ramp diverter coil seems to be defective and one wire was disconnected, so I took it our entirely, and have ordered another one. Suspecting it had been locked on and need to fix transistor on original board.

So, if you think you know the cause of my Drop Coil blowing the F103 fuse, I'm all ears. Could a defective coil do that? There was a slash/dent on the exterior of the coil.
Thanks for any help.

Working on my new CPR Playfield. The CPR Playfield seems to have a few new holes than my old Playfield. Anyone know what goes into the two smaller holes next to the yellow target? I'm assuming it's two of these bumper posts shown in the first picture?

This was from my teardown. Hoping it helps.

Could someone please measure the posts that go in the pictures for the right ramp. I know there are other topics on Pinside that show this, but they seem to all have different measurement. Thanks

Believe that it's 1" hex spacer. Or at least was on mine.

I've used that topic and some are correct and some are wrong. That's why I need someone to measure them.

Interesting. They worked perfectly for me but who knows if they were changed before I got my machine. I measured all of them as they came off.

Also you are missing a plastic cover by the scoop in the top photo, or at least mie has one on it.

The bottle is a key fob and the dagger covers the ramp diverter coil to the right of the Genie (it points toward the player).

Curious why there is a flaming dagger and regular like pictured. Seen both and my new plastic set has both.

Can I join this awesome club? Just brought this beauty home yesterday. Needs a mild shop job.

Any suggestions on LEDs / SMDs for TOTAN? I assume ODC boards are important.

Nice looking machine. I hope to get one maybe next year, but can't swing those prices at the moment.

One LED thought I'd had though is trying some of Comet's Fire LEDs under the lamp. Not sure how they'd work out since they're aren't incredibly bright, but seems like it could be cool.

I'm shopping my TOTAN and wonder why there is a "hole" in the backboard - maybe light was coming from there on the prototype?
Anyone knows or has a guess of the purpose?
Puzzled why effort and $ was spend on this - I noticed it only after stripping the playfield!

I've been searching for LED inspiration. I've got all incandescent bulbs now. What do you think of this as a model?

All opinions welcome!

I added a belly dancer over the target by the scoop on mine by reworking a hawaiian dashboard girl. Now when I hit that target or scoop her hips wiggle.

I also made an alternate translite for mine that I felt was more relevant to the gameplay.
