I used this, deep blue. It’s a pretty good match to the original color.

Yeah the yellow is a custom color I made with automotive paint. The match is pretty good and blended out nicely.

The playfield did have some colors that I just couldn’t match though, the neons. I had some success matching the neon green when it was screened over the yellow but when it was screened over the blue I couldn’t match it. The blue and pink were issues as well. So I took the playfield to Neo, he has done some Radical playfields and can match the neon colors. So I am having him touch up the neon colors for me.

The back and inside of the cabinet got clear coated today.

Got the playfield back from Neo, he also shot some clear on it to protect the work he did as I move forward the restoration. I still have a lot left to do but it was really great to get some help with colors I was struggling with. Neo did some nice work, I will be sanding the clear before I resume touching up but I thought I’d take a few pictures before I do.

Reinforced this area with a screw. Sunk the screw and dished out around it.

The corner was damaged, I grind that down before I use a fiberglass reinforced filler to repair.

All areas in need got filler and block sanded. Then I primed the backbox.

Cabinet parts and wiring cleaned, polished and starting to re-assemble. Stapled in new ground braid . Put in the new style reinforcing leg brackets.

I made a stencil for the backbox caution text. Weather permitting I will use this stencil tomorrow.

Here is what the original looks like, My recreation is very close to original. I will underline the “always” and “only” like the original has, I just need to cut it into the stencil.

This pattern here is going to be tough to duplicate. This spot here is where the ball drops from the funnel and it was wore down to bare wood in this area. I airbrushed the yellow to blend out the color.

Some of the pattern will need to be painted by hand but I made a stencil to get a large portion of the missing pattern done. Much less hand painting will be required after I use this stencil.

These carriage bolts were tumbled but since you see the bolt heads on the side of the back box I wanted them to be polished better.

I put the bolt in a drill and spin the head on a gray scotchbrite pad, then spin it on the rag with metal polish.
