    Total Shot Count:

I am on a mission to find out which pinball games have the longest gameplay. This is not illustrating how hard a game is based on an individuals skill. The only way that I could truly judge this would be through "shot counts". Determining the minimum shots required to successfully reach completion of the game. I do realize that earlier games do not have a final objective or wizard mode. The more complicated/challenging games require modes to be completed, not just activated for credit. This raises the shot count significantly. I have analyzed a couple of my favorites set at Factory settings.

    Examples:

    Street Fighter 2

    12 characters to defeat = 12 shots
Grand master to defeat = 12 shots
total shot count = 24 shots

    Tales From The Crypt
Shoot scoop than re light scoop
Do this 11 more times to complete all modes
Activate all modes(they do not require completion) = 24
Shoot scoop to engage Crypt Jam = 1
    total shot count = 25

Makes the game seem easier than it really is....

Without spelling out the rest I have counted:

Twilight Zone total shot count = 22

Starship Troopers total shot count = 115

Transformers total shot count = 183

I realize that it takes some time to add these up. An estimation is fair enough for some games. I would

appreciate any input. Particularly for games with 100 plus total shot counts. These are examples of longer

playing games that are harder to beat. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Sopranos: 100 to boss mode
    35 to finish

This could be a fun parlor game like name that tune. Beat that pinball. "I'll beat it in 22 shots" says player # 1. does player 2 have an idea to beat it in 21? Oh, the suspense......

    Thanks for input trufflepiggy.
Sopranos has been on my wish list for awhile.
To me the more the shot count the more the challenge!

Jack*Bot - 18 shots to Mega Visor. Insta-drop visor, two locks, fifteen JackBots. Good luck.

Actually, scratch that. 13. If you can get super JackBots for every shot, not sure if that's possible to turn every jackBot into a super jackBot but if you can it's worth three for the pair. Worst case it's still lower than 18 if you can manage one or two supers. Someone that owns one could maybe chime in.

Casino Run is a whopping nine shots or something as well.

Tales from the Crypt - estimated 25 total shots to reach Crypt Jam at the end.

There's 12 creature features, but you don't need to complete any of them or even do a single portion of one of them to finish the game, you simply need to get all 12 of them activated. Some are timed anyway, so shot counts don't come into play on the timed ones.

That being said, to light creature feature, you need to make an orbit, whichever one is lit. Then hit the scoop. That's 2 shots, x 12 creature features, so 24 total shots to complete that. Then one more scoop shot (#25) to start Crypt Jam and that's pretty much it to complete the game.

Fortunately, this game has many other challenging factors - you can work on ramps for play the organ, & etc., hit the captive ball several times for rewards, and each creature feature focuses on an area of the game. Electric chair wants you to hit scoop shots. Frightmare is a spinner challenge, super psycho pops is all pop bumpers, thunderstorm is a ramp challenge. So there's plenty of diversity and other ways to "complete" the game and score big. The left inlane lights a lit door drop down target for a few million. The right inlane makes the pop bumpers worth 1 million each.

Multi ball requires hitting the crypt 5x then putting the ball in the crypt to start. Then left ramp jackpot, right ramp double jackpot, then crypt 5 more times, then crypt again for monster jackpot.

So to beat the game real good, you need to focus on all of the above for big points and bigger rewards. And the new v4.0 rom from Pinballcode.com made some incredible improvements to scoring, risk vs. reward & etc. on many of the modes.

TF was always the biggest number I could come up with. I thought it was over 200 but I think I was guestimating

YeahTheLaw, it is Transformers that inspires me to find similar lengthy game challenges. Lord of the Rings is probably up there although I don't have mine set up right now to do a count. It's also a game where the modes need totally completed not just activated.
