Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

greenhornet that is definitely part of it. But just PWMing the flippers is not always enough. There needs to be a balance and configuration for this so you do not get the flipper buzzing that used to happen on older Stern machines. I had some fun screwing around with this and got it to a good point where the flippers do not overheat, but still have all the power and proper feeling that we are all used to.
--Scott

Can you describe what happens when you're holding up the flipper and the ball comes down and hits it? Is the solution just to have the hold power strong enough to handle it?

Just curious: How does the match sequence work with the non-zero last digit?

Watching this video, it appears that the generated match value is still a 2-digit number ending in zero.

Quoted from gtxjoe:

I assume the last digit of the match value will always match your score. On most games that would be zero, but not on TNA

The video I linked has a lot of multiplayer games. Interesting if what you're saying is true for a 1-player game. Haven't seen a 1-player game yet.

#1105 6 years ago
Quoted from gtxjoe:

Good point about multiplayer games... hmm

The solution, of course, is to just use the second-to-last digit for all players. But it'll need a pretty slick animation to keep players from being confused, I think.

Quoted from hisokajp:

What is the list of the Spooky distributor in the US?

Didn't see a list on their site, but I know of these off the top of my head:

Quoted from Pmaino:

Yes completely random.

Is it the same for each player in tournament mode?

Quoted from bitpatrol:

I wonder how TNA does at locations compared to others

If I had one on location, I'd put a sign on it that explains what co-op mode is and how to start it.

#2521 5 years ago
Quoted from bitpatrol:

Or have 2 TNAs side-by-side connected to each other and have some type of battle between them somehow... triggering stuff on the other's machine etc. when you start to play 1, the other one invites people to battle

Nope. I'd do the one that's possible.

Quoted from MythMaker:

Could the tilt through be solved with a software fix. Essentially at the start of a new player do not register tilt warnings until the ball leaves the shooter lane?

That won't solve the problem when the tilt bob is still swinging as the next player's ball is in play. Just use an ear plug; it's not that hard.

#4292 5 years ago
Quoted from MythMaker:

Typically in tournaments players wait for the tilt to settle between players, especially if the player before is playing more aggressively.

And here's another reason to use the earplug. It reduces the waiting time between turns during competition. I don't add an earplug to every machine, but I absolutely have them installed where they're needed like TNA.

Minor bug encountered last night:

A) 2-player co-op game started.
B) P1 is playing, and has 1 reactor destroyed on ball 1. His score is, let's say, 300001.
C) While P1 is still up, I pressed the start button to join the co-op.
D) I was added and everything worked as expected, but...
E) The "1" got removed from the end of P1's score.

The playfield still showed that we were working on Reactor 2, of course. Over the rest of game, P1 destroyed another reactor or two, and his last digit increased each time but was always -1 from where it should be.

I'm not surprised that this wouldn't have come up before.

#4467 5 years ago
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

I am surprised 2 people caught it

Dave reported it to you based on me reporting it to him last night.

So, we're only talking about 1 incident.

Quoted from luckycreature:

I ordered a playfield protector last week. My playfield less than 300 plays is just covered in dimples. Also having the washer playfield issue. Since I plan on owning for a long time hoping to protect it going forward. I'll post pictures once I start the install.

You're going to seal in the dimples rather than playing the machine without the protector and having the dimples smoothed out naturally? That seems like a strange choice.

Quoted from epthegeek:

Earplug mod FTW

Toyguy has an earplug installed, and I'm pretty sure it's not causing the tilt bob to rest on the ring.

Quoted from lpeters82:

there is way more happening in TNA then any Stern Pro.

In the last 10 years (i.e., the Pro/Pre/LE era pretty much), I count 14 Stern Pros I'd take over a TNA. TNA is a lot of fun, but I have no idea what "happening" means in this context.

This thread probably isn't the place for this kind of comment, but I found the text I quoted to be really provocative and weird.
