Quoted from Whysnow:

just pull the sling rubber so it is tighter on the kicker side and takes the slack up on the inlane side.

That would never last. After a few hits the tension will equalize all around.

I don't have my invoice handy but pretty sure I was only charged once for installation of my RZ knocker and shaker.

Does TNA use the same Meanwell SE-600-48 coil power supply that RZ uses? They do make a fanless version rated at 600W/48V, would it work as a quieter replacement?

#927 6 years ago
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

Correct. Same power supply as Rob Zombie. It is a very solid power supply and I am super surprised to hear how loud this fan is. I have never heard anything like that.
Send me the part number of that Meanwell fanless supply. I know of 2 potential models, but they are 2x-4x the cost. Just curious what you found.

Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

The supply we've been using the entire 5 years of Spooky is as robust a model as you can get... anything without a fan is either WAAAY more expensive, or not as stout to handle spikes. This supply is not cheap, but it's super reliable. Trust me, we've looked high and low for a fanless comparable version we trust. We stay with this one for a reason.
We are currently getting some help on an all in one power supply that has no fan (custom made for Spooky by a super cool tech / mfg couple). But, going to take time, testing, $$$, etc.
I agree with Scott... turn it up and play it!!!

I looked into this probably a year ago and can't find my notes on what the model was, but I'm sure it is the same one you guys have already found. It was at least twice as much $$$ if not more and the fan noise isn't bad enough to make me change anything out. I agree it has been rock solid on RZ with zero issues whatsoever.

Those target decals look sharp! Nice design that complements the existing art. They look factory.

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

Since I had to open my game again (wich is always quite an act because the room is so small) because the upper flipper stopped working I finally took my time to adress really EVERYTHING...
So I opened the power supply wich skreeching sound bugged me more every day. And boy I'm glad I did.
First here's the opened power supply wich is quite a challenge...

...alltogether I had to unscrew about 27 screws. Since you cant remove the fan without removing the power supply board from it's case.
What really supprised me is the built of the power supply with the fan cooling the most important parts over a big heatsink.
When I removed the fan I noticed when tilting, that the noise stopped. The Fan just ran uneven, maybe a broken bearing. Then I noticed something...

There were cut ditches all over the place. So my first guess was that this is a cheap ass fan and they tried to cut something out to make it run even.
But it turns out the fan is a really expensive one clocking in at about 25$. Mine was just broken...
...and then I found a loose screw the coin door was missing.
So I guess the maybe the screw fell in and broke the fan a bit. Important thing is I'm lucky the screw didn't lead to a short ciruit.
So, I got a new fan (actually git the fastest I could find but it's still a bit slower) and now you only notice it when really listen closely.
What I also did (together with other things) is to put some isolation tape left and right on the edges of the glass (you can't see it), since my glass made loud vibrations when the bass was hitting hard.
So now my mind is at ease (the game whas smooth like butter long ago) and I'm happy the fan was 'broke'and I'm not kind of a whining jerk.
VERY IMPORTANT SIDE MARK:
The Fan blades are purple as well as the insulation tape, so this is actually a beauty mod (nobody will ever see) as well!

What size fan is it? I'd like to swap it with something quieter.

Quoted from OnTheSnap:

Just received my TNA and put a few games on it. Love it!
Only one issue so far - my 48V supply (a meanwell SE-600-48) has a SUPER loud fan. Video below.
Seems like something is wrong with it? I have several meanwell supplies on other stuff and I’ve never heard one like this?
Thanks!

It's loud and normal.

Ok. Probably forced to install a better psu cooling solution..

If you do please share. I've considered replacing the PS fan in my RZ due to noise but it hasn't bothered me enough to do anything yet.

Quoted from crwjumper:

Don’t the capacitors retain dangerous electricity to be careful of? What fans did you use?

Not sure in this application, but you never need to go near the capacitor terminals or anything on the bottom of the PCB for that matter. Swapping the fan is a piece of cake and just takes a little time to remove all the screws.

I used the same fan, it's a Vantec Stealth SF6025L: https://www.amazon.com/Vantec-Stealth-SF6025L-60x60x25mm-Bearing/dp/B000234W04/ref=sr_1_1

I will also say double check the airflow direction prior to installing the fan if possible, or at least test it before button up the PSU with all its screws. I tried to match up the angle of the fan blades to the old fan and it ended up blowing the wrong way so I had to take it out again to flip the fan. Here is a picture of mine installed with correct orientation exhaust out towards the rear of the PSU.

Quoted from crwjumper:

Usually (not always) if you look at the fan closely there will be arrows embossed in the plastic indicating the direction of airflow.

Doh - that woulda helped if I knew that! Either way I'm sure it would've worked fine, the air was still blowing out of the power supply, only through the gaps in the front screw terminals. I don't see this thing generating a ton of heat and the cabinet isn't hot either. Might even work without a fan but I'm not gonna risk it.

So when I get my TNA, I need to replace the loud power supply, fix the loud light AND replace the display? wtf.

No

Quoted from FatPanda:

Reinstalled the old fan and it works. Thankfully I left about 2 inches of wiring left on the old fan so that I could resolve it back together. Do you think I have a faulty fan?
What's funny is that the original fan is quieter now

You did it right, sounds like a bad fan or maybe something was inadvertently lodged in it. You can test it with a 9V battery.

Congrats fnosm
My game has gone from Benton, to St Louis, to Memphis, and is now in Jackson. I’m nervous as heck about the shippers damaging it with so many stops along the way. Hoping to receive the game on Wednesday, would be awesome.

See now if you lived in Iowa you wouldn't have that problem
