Sadly, it appears 'improvements' are a problem for pin companies because this community can't handle change without canceling pre-orders or demanding free upgrades.

As Spooky builds more games, I'd like to see them listen to customer feedback and make stealth improvements as they go along.
It's not hard to find an inexpensive, quality display nowadays. Why not replace the power supply with something quiet?
They are building hundreds of games (and hopefully thousands), not millions. They should make improvements as they learn from games on route, etc.

Quoted from jar155:

Stern and JJP have "loud" fans too. There's no point ...

It sounds like you'd care if it was a crappy bracket that kept breaking, but for 'peripheral sound/display/art/power', you don't care.

Bah. TNA is awesome because the entire game experience (sound, music, playfield art, lighting) is fantastic.
Swapping a few known-lame parts makes good sense to me - Scott's masterpiece deserves it. A game in my lineup deserves it.
If the game shipped with crappy speakers, people might be more vocal about improvements.
If I need to pay an additional $150 so that I don't have to pull/swap parts, no problem.

On a related note, when a TNA# order comes up, are there any options (lit speakers, etc)?

Quoted from 27dnast:

I agree that it’s not worth makinging a mountain over a mole hill. You can hear the fan when not playing the game.
You can hear it while sitting idle, however. It’s definitively louder than WOZ, but not as loud as a MegaTouch

It's not a mountain, but noise in the background shouldn't be there. Not in my home!
It's been a few years, but perhaps for sake of full disclosure, I was involved with the making of this video:

Quoted from twhtalm:

Here's a sample of something i've slowly been working on, summertime lazyness. Optos track the plunger and will have different effects for ball waiting to plung and autoplunger. The paper is just acting as a diffuser and will not cover the main opening.[quoted image]

That looks fantastic. Take my money please.

I've got clear plastic protectors installed at the moment and am contemplating green ones. Has anyone compared them and have an opinion?

Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

HAHA! Awesome. Yeah, so I guess Charlie spilled the beans a bit on a TNA rerun. I wouldn't really call this TNA 2.0, but I would call it a TNA Remake. The stuff I can share about it is pretty limited, but the game will essentially be the same. There will be a bunch of bolt on mods already done from the factory like the upgraded shoot again display, RGB lit drops, and it will have the latest backbox style of spooky cabinet. All the art, geometry, and software, will be the exact same and anything that is on the remade version can be bolted or installed on the original version (with the exception of the new backbox style). Well, I guess you could install a new backbox on your original if you were crazy enough. I probably shared too much..... Sorry Charlie. <3 There is absolutely no timeline on when this is going to happen though.
--Scott

Sounds cool. I particularly appreciate the effort that goes into making the upgrades modular.
On that note, CGC did a really nice job with their MMr GI/topper/display upgrade kits. The process was scary (for me) but the manual and supplied tools (hole cutter and taped drill bit!) made the clench-moments bearable.

I started with clear protectors and the green looks much better.

Quoted from beltking:

Scott have a good idea. Prob won’t happen but Elwin hates the Blue Oster song when you destroy the building on Godzilla. They need you to do the song for this and would be a winner.

Elwin AND Beltking are absolutely correct.
