Any must have options? Are the plastic protectors a good idea?

Chiming in on intermittent down errors on drop target #2. Mine acted up for a while, ran test, got one error then it fixed itself. Played about 10 games now it’s consistently getting drop errors.
I’ve read back through the thread but I think this may be an electric issue, as I don’t hear the drop coil firing at all in test. Where are the connections I need to check?
Edit: upon closer inspection it’s possibly a mechanical issue. The spring is pulling the brass finger so far back that it hangs up on the little circuit board near target 2. Is this what everyone who has swapped to a lighter spring was seeing?
So much for the adjustment. The tension of the spring bends the metal stop back to where the brass finger binds every 10 games or so. Kind of frustrating for a game I’ve had for one day.
My pop bumper also fell apart, which was exciting. Thanks to Chris at Spooky who responded to my panicked email late at night on Thanksgiving with reassembly instructions.

I know I’ve already rolled up the Mylar circle at the post to the right of the scoop. I’m trying not to worry too much, I’ll probably just Mylar spots as I go. Did the same with a few wear spots early on with my Hobbit, and they haven’t gotten any worse after 1000 plays.
You all made me nervous and I started looking too closely at my machine. Good size chunk out of the clear coat on the reactor side of the scoop. 60-70 plays.
I tried to fit a little piece of Mylar on it but I doubt it will stay because of the curvature of that area of the play field.
Anyone else having repeated drop target issues? Thought I had everything dialed in but after about 20-25 games both drop targets 2 and 3 got so far out of adjustment that the game was unplayable. On both the finger that drops the targets was getting caught on the center slot in the drop target and binding up so that the target wouldn’t drop.
Any kind of long term fix? I’ve never seen this issue on the location game near me, it seems to be built like a tank.
