Quoted from fastpinball:

You can get your BOM under 5k. But honestly factoring in programming, design and engineering work, as well credit card processing fees and other small costs that add up, a smaller run game priced under 6k game is a money losing venture.

Then when having your game manufactured by an outside company there is also the cost of having the game assembled and handled. Each game assembled could easily start at $700-$800 each. So add that in also.

This part of the equation is always left out when people guess what a pinball "should" cost. They want to pay for the parts, but nothing else.

There's got to be meat on the bone to run any sort of healthy business.

Am I crazy or couldn't TA be adapted for the P3? Most of the features are in the top 3rd. You'd have to create a floating pop bumper if that doesn't exist yet for p3, and obviously it would be an adapted game, not the original design, original light show, etc, but perhaps that would be possible at a price point that people can handle if TA never makes it past a single prototype for cost reasons.

Quoted from trilogybeer:

No limt runs of fifty

I like this plan. Totally fair way of doing it and I'm guessing for them acquiring parts by 50s is doable.

Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

I remember hearing that when you win, the flippers go dead and the ball drains. It's a one-way mission if you succeed, you blow yourself up with all the reactors.
Seems like a fun concept!

Wow, such an awesome idea. The best players will know how to press their scores up as high as possible before they kill the final reactor. Sort of like the challenge of the Donkey Kong kill screen.

Quoted from rosh:

I said to the Scott, who avoids this thread, that I find it quite entertaining as you have clueless people passionately debating with other clueless people.

The worse thing would be no one giving a shit. So take the attention in stride.

Quoted from fastpinball:

"Scott Danesi's Total Annihilation" SDTA
Now it's an original title!

I think it would be clever to "brand" the pinball with Scott's name, and keep it going for all future games... like

Sid Meier's Civilization
John Carpenter's The Thing

It still made me happy to see that big Atari logo in the new Bladerunner trailer .

If they're going to show the art publicly on deadflip, then they should just post a high quality version so we can see it better than a muddy screen capture.

#901 6 years ago

thanks. You can appreciate the quality of the art much better now. Whether or not the design is what people expected, mandraws can do some wicked art .

I don't get the "complaining about the complaining". Who cares? Scott apparently doesn't. So if he doesn't, then let it go. Let people give their opinions about it, even if they hate it and say so.

We've been told Scott doesn't read this thread, for his own peace, and I would do the same thing. This isn't even a Pinside thing, this is an internet thing. People are going to comment on stuff, good and bad, and its ridiculous to think that ANYONE can please everyone, and have everyone else shut up about it.
