Pin sales boil down to one thing - Will a 50 year-old man buy it?
It's the reason extremely well done custom games like Buffy get largely ignored while a POS brick-fest like Predator steals half a million.
80's nostalgia is hot right now and certainly fits the "pin buyers" age demo. And younger people are fascinated with that decade as well. The awesome soundtrack would make TA a smash in Europe as well.
What I meant by "50 year old men" is that some themes can be rejected outright for being "too young". Like a game starring a cell phone.
"We need to get more young people into pinball for it to survive!"
Well Scott is young. Let him do his thing.
Pretty ironic that people fell in love with this game as a blank piece of wood and are now demanding "more detail" is added to the art.
Not every game needs to be a Where's Waldo orgy of detail. Blank space is just as important as what is filled in.
Quoted from toyotaboy:wouldn't you need alphanumeric displays for hexadecimal?
No. You can make A B C D E and F with a seven segment (though the b looks like a six)
The width of a king's thumb and the length of his foot is pretty dumb, but if aliens landed and we tried to impress them with a unit of measurement based off the number of fingers we evolved with they'd laugh at that too.
Quoted from rai:Can I get any new reviews from people who have played it recently, did it live up to expectations is it better or worse than you imagined?
Closest (comparison) to me was Predator.
Except for the fact it shoots well, was built by a smart person instead of a dumb baby factory redneck, and the company owners are buying a house after shipping 700 games instead of 0.
Other than that, exactly the same, yeah.
Quoted from rai:I was not saying TNA is the same as Predator, just the initial buzz was very good for both games until Predator went south. But don't forget Predator sold out with a waiting list, so initially it was not viewed the way it is now.
Predator had buzz because the word stenciled on the side of the cabinet referred to a manly R-rated movie during a time of kiddie pinball themes.
It was never a good game.
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:Brad is sharp... probably because he's much younger than Bryan.
Who isn't?
Quoted from Whysnow:If anyone local wants to play some TNA, I am ditching work early to head over to Alt Brew. Ill be there around 2:30
First game is on me
Hey I'm tempted to join you - how long ya gonna be there?
Quoted from Grizlyrig:My wife has informed me that it was mentioned on Spooky's Facebook that they are now past 300 TNA machines ordered.
Congrats Spooky Pinball

Damn I lost my bet! (299)
Quoted from Deaconblooze:We're giving up some things like the private yard and what turned out to be a practically ideal basement, but at least I'm closer to route pinball, and I'm getting back some of my time!
Yeah the market is on fire here. I feel fortunate for finally getting place *only* 14k over list.
Also RE: Madison, despite how people might feel about him online, Hilton has done a great job FLOODING Madison with location pinball. I like to joke that he "stores his games in bars"
