Quoted from Grizlyrig:

But people instead are focusing on the art style, or the purple hair, or the font, or the laser lines. Seriously, people.
-^^^ Well said and so true.

Yeah sucks having to hear your customers comments when all you really want to do is painlessly extract multi-thousand dollars out of their wallet for your non-essential toy product. Just sucks I tell ya!

I'm sure they would prefer the dead silence of a disinterested graveyard over here than the excited chatter of free publicity

Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

My own guess for pricing would be somewhere in the mid six-thousands, and for once in the current market I feel like that price is justified.
Even if it was $7.5k, you could buy two of them for the price of a B66 SLE. Let's talk more value than bottom line cost, because 1 TA is more fun than 1 B66 SLE, at least in my eyes.
Seriously, TA beats a lot of games.

I don't think you EVER want to use BM66 SLE as a comparison point for either price or value. Let's just forget about that one.

Quoted from alveolus:

A bit snarky but distracting artwork affecting the ability to see/follow the ball is news to me as well.
Now crazy flashing GI is another story...

Well at least now I know why my scores aren't so hot... the damn artwork has been distracting me from following the ball all this time!

Personally I think it looks ok... it's simply an empty gradient of "Miami Vice" colors but the plastics, etc work well with it and it does indeed have it's own look. I hated that color scheme on the few "Outrun" type games that used them in the past but I don't mind it on this...

I think it's crazy to yell at people who don't like the art as it's subjective. Should they say they love it if they don't? Of course not. I'm sure the artist fully understands this. There's a hundred ways they could have approached the art on this but this is what they went for.

But don't begrudge people for trying to get in their opinion. It's a forum. Goes with the territory.

Those apron stickers gotta go though... are those radioactive gummi-men on them? I'm confused but I don't know the plot behind this either

In any case I'm delighted to to see Spooky producing a game SO different from everybody else. Gameplay looks like a winner indeed. Congrats to Scott and Spooky.

Quoted from jwilson:

PACMAN sent me a PM with a link to a prescription glasses site.
That sort of sums up the value of his opinion.

I actually think that's kinda funny. I think we all get too defensive about things we like. Myself included...

But the close up does indeed look good... shows some of the details that get lost from a distance.

Yeah I don't know what is more irritating... the occasional jackhole comment or the condescending finger pointing from internet brownshirts determined to dictate exactly HOW someone should properly express their opinion.

Maybe the guy is actually a jerk in real life so that's how he's gonna post? So what?... that's what a public forum is about.
I agree some decorum is always desirable but these lectures on "how to properly post your opinion" are tiresome. IMHO

I'm sure I've been guilty of this kind of finger pointing in the past myself.

Does the game always end with "you failed"? If so I don't see the point.

A novice destroys the reactor and then gets told "you failed". A better player destroys 5 reactors and then gets told "you failed"... both players would think "wtf"??

Just seems like an unnecessary downer at the end of a fun game. Maybe I'm missing something or don't know the rules.

#3213 6 years ago
Quoted from 27dnast:

You don't understand the concept/goal of the game.

I know you are supposed to beat 9 reactors in one game. So yes you will always see "you failed". I was just trying to be nice.

#3214 6 years ago
Quoted from Crile1:

"You failed" to achieve Total Nuclear Annihilation by destroying all 9 reactors. In the narrative of the game, as I understand, you are from the past (80's) trying to destroy the future so that by using time travel they don't destroy/erase your past. So you have to destroy the future to save the past. If you fail...you die. It's a unique theme/story for sure. But it won't effect game play if you don't know or care about the story. I don't see it any different than lots of other games. For example, Yagov trash talks you and "kills" you when you drain your last ball in F 14 Tomcat.

I gotcha. Thanks. Was just a thought about the tone of the ending... maybe that is the standard way most older games end.

Hell I forget...

Quoted from RustyLizard:

Maybe the final screen could say, "You did your best" and have a large gold trophy with dancing stars and mushrooms.

You mean each game doesn't ship with an included participation trophy?? I mean I did buy it right?

Now I'm really bummed.

Isn't someone looking for you on RGP about now?
Brad

I thought they finally drained that swamp?
