Wait, didn't we make a game a few years ago that did not take standard glass?? :->
Andrew
Does the game always end with "you failed"? If so I don't see the point.
A novice destroys the reactor and then gets told "you failed". A better player destroys 5 reactors and then gets told "you failed"... both players would think "wtf"??
Just seems like an unnecessary downer at the end of a fun game. Maybe I'm missing something or don't know the rules.
Quoted from Manic:Does the game always end with "you failed"? If so I don't see the point.
"You failed" to achieve Total Nuclear Annihilation by destroying all 9 reactors. In the narrative of the game, as I understand, you are from the past (80's) trying to destroy the future so that by using time travel they don't destroy/erase your past. So you have to destroy the future to save the past. If you fail...you die. It's a unique theme/story for sure. But it won't effect game play if you don't know or care about the story. I don't see it any different than lots of other games. For example, Yagov trash talks you and "kills" you when you drain your last ball in F 14 Tomcat.
Quoted from FatPanda:For those at the stream last night, was the table really short? We were looking at the camera showing the side of the cabinet, and it stood below the waist on most people. All of my tables stand at the waist or higher. I'm 5'8". Just thought it was strange.
I think the original question on height was asking about the Lockbar height...
Quoted from gtxjoe:I think the original question on height was asking about the Lockbar height...
In the pictures posted after that question. The lockdown height appears to be the same as the other games in he picture. When I got to play to prototype it felt no different to me.
Quoted from gtxjoe:I think the original question on height was asking about the Lockbar height...
By the pictures @notrashcougar posted of it next to a metallica the lockdown is the same height. I think dusting the stream the camera was at a weird angle making it look shorter.
Anyone that was there get any pics of the inside of the cabinet? I'd love to see the production sub box (spooky ghost carved into it I hope) And some better pics of the interior graphics
I enjoyed the live feed and afterwards I searched Youtube for TNA pinball content. For some unknown reason YT recommended a Stern interview from 2009 and for another unknown reason, I watched it.
In the interview Gary said it cost between $750,000 & $1,000,000 to develop a game and build it with 4 miles of Ford Taurus wiring.
I thought WOW, the industry sure has changed in the last 8 years.
I look forward to seeing photos of this game in people's collections that have early 80s classics like Eight Ball Deluxe and Medusa!
Quoted from 27dnast:You don't understand the concept/goal of the game.
I know you are supposed to beat 9 reactors in one game. So yes you will always see "you failed". I was just trying to be nice.

I gotcha. Thanks. Was just a thought about the tone of the ending... maybe that is the standard way most older games end.
Hell I forget...
Maybe the final screen could say, "You did your best" and have a large gold trophy with dancing stars and mushrooms.

You mean each game doesn't ship with an included participation trophy?? I mean I did buy it right?
Now I'm really bummed.

Isn't someone looking for you on RGP about now?
Brad

I'll post mine when it comes in Nov., right between Medusa and Flash Gordon, with Star Gazer off to the side!
...but it won't be there long as it hits our local league location come January.

It would have looked really nice next to my paragon , but I am selling paragon to fund my purchase of Total Nuclear Annihilation.

I thought they finally drained that swamp?
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:I thought Scott was givng a game to all his close friends.
All I know is Chuck promised me Scott is writing special messages for me on all the blank wood areas under the playfield!

He already did.
Brad

Those friends are very lucky then cause the game is awesome .
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:I thought Scott was givng a game to all his close friends.
Today I learned, I am too poor to have close friends.
Hmm, at 8 production games a week that would put me sometime in February for delivery, which is awesome. Been a long time since I've looked this forward to a game.
My first Spooky!
Quoted from Aurich:All I know is Chuck promised me Scott is writing special messages for me on all the blank wood areas under the playfield!
It's fine
Quoted from NimblePin:Man Trilogy, I would've dumped STTNG before letting my Paragon go but, to each his own.
SW pro hit the bricks to pay for mine.
So some years back I bought 3 paragons . I made 2 really nice ones (2 of the playfields I touched up and cleared) . Sold one nice that had the nicest original cabinet to a friend . I kept the worst cabinet for myself (as I was planning to redo the cabinet really nice for the one I was keeping) The 3rd game was just a players condition game , this went to my brother in law . I will buy it back from him if he tires of it , or if I'd ask to buy back he'd sell it to me . So I have access to not only play one that is close but a plan in place to potentially add paragon to my collection again . So easy choice for me , also as I have said my current paragon is nice and it is going to get me a decent chunk of the TNA money I need . Here's a picture of the cabinet , I am selling this game to a friend I am fixing a few things on the playfield and re clearing before he takes delivery of it .

Agreed. 8 a week would put me in November, and I'm STILL sitting here thinking that there has to be someone earlier that would want to trade spots. My third Spooky. Will tie them for top manufacturer in my gameroom.

There is also going to be a ramp up period so this may not an exact calculation. As they roll out there will be more solid estimates of when people will be getting games.

You're saying 25 a week?
Quoted from trilogybeer:Sold one nice that had the nicest original cabinet to a friend .
Until said cabinet had the front ripped off at MGC. Very sad. Except, now of course...LINONMAN!!!!
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:Today I learned, I am too poor to have close friends.
And I thought we had something.
I've been watching the new Deadflip stream with the 1st production machine and it really looks awesome!
One thing I noticed though that bugs the crap out of me when watching the stream, anyway, is the rate at which the active player's score display flashes. It's far slower than any classic SS game I know of, and is a bit slower than the music tempo, which just bothers me. Maybe it could flash in time to the music beat?
Or if not that, then flash about twice as fast. It kind of feels like it's lagging a bit the way it is now. Stuff I notice...
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:There is also going to be a ramp up period so this may not an exact calculation.
Haha. Understood, and no worries. I'm just really looking forward to it.
Quoted from _xizor:So I want to be convinced to pre-order TNA.
The other spooky titles have not grabbed me before, but everything I've seen about this pin looks solid.
What is the build quality like with a spooky pin?
good
Quoted from _xizor:What is the build quality like with a spooky pin?
Can't speak for later titles, but as AMH owner #93 it's pretty dam near flawless. Cabinet solidly built, no manufacturing flaws like you see on pins from bigger companies (switches not installed right, flaws in clearcoat, decals falling off). Every game goes through a huge list of QC checks before it goes out the door. One thing about a boutique builder (even though charlie is starting to ramp up to some bigger numbers in recent years), they know that quality can make or break your reputation.

TBH, my AMH never worked right and had to replace a few broken playfield parts. In all fairness Charlie is very responsive and tries hard to help. Very fun game when playing without issues though.
Updates are a PITA.
I've seen many issues with RZ and Dominoes as well. Not cabinet splitting, playfield ghosting type of stuff, but just never really playing correctly consistently.
Having said that, TNA looks bitchin!!!

Put several games on AMH yesterday. The build quality seemed great to me. Cabinet was perfect. Playfields was perfect (no ghosting).
Quoted from TKDalumni:Updates are a PITA.
That shouldn't be a problem here with the switch to P-ROC. One of the main reason I'm a first time Spooky customer.
Quoted from TKDalumni:Updates are a PITA.
really? I plugged a laptop in, ran the software, was done in under a minute everytime. Updating the sound files is easy with SD cards. Though I have seen some people with issues of a certain version of windows have issues. Like Mr68 said, since this is a PROC based system, it's completely different (but easily updated).

The build quality of spooky games are very good they have gotten even better with each game. Charlie was super fast to respond to any issues. Like with all pinball problems do come up nothing is 100% perfect in pinball. Spooky is awesome buy with confidence
I'm already ordered so not needed to convince me. I'm just looking for some perspective regarding TNA particularly in regards to AFM remake.
I've played the remake with the large LCD-DMD and it's very nice and has a great light show, great game all around.
I'm curious what people would say to those who might be considering TNA and/or AFMr?
I've not played TNA, but I'm getting it instead of AFM because it's so different than most of my pins. I understand layout/shot map is just one aspect of a game. There is theme, art, lights, toys, and most importantly rules that make games feel different so IM is not Met pro is not AcDc is not SM but you can see them related to AFM.
TNA is a whole different type of pin which is why I picked it instead of AFM.
