With or without? What do you prefer? Show off Your Topper. Take a pic and post it. Or tell us what you think? What's the best topper out there?

Since you asked, I think these aftermarket toppers, or those who put little trinkets or figures on the backbox, are completely unnecessary and tacky. Some games benefit from the OEM ones--like White Water and Whirlwind, but that's because they're functional and integrated into gameplay (with the former displaying the game's title, since the stock backglass doesn't have it).

But heck. If you like 'em, who am I to say otherwise. Different strokes for different folks.

HEP restored MM with a custom topper.

I think they fit in the current "look at me" instagram/facebook generational societal mores. It goes along with everything else; have shiny silvery chrome metal adorn your $5,000 USD box of blinding lights wasn't gaudy enough so people had to start dipping into shitty car colors to finish the job.

They're horrible but whatever...so is a lot of shit these days.

EDIT: I mean they're near the top of the list don;t get me wrong

#7 6 years ago

You like them ? Then hey, knock yourself out. Don't like them ? Then hey , by all means leave them off. It's not like we're trying to solve world peace here. To each his own. Do what you like on your pinball machine.

#8 6 years ago

A lot of wasted acreage up there without them.
After Addams, Fish Tales and White Water my guess is Bally Williams stopped because they cost more money to make a title.

#9 6 years ago

If it came with a topper I think it needs one. White water, fish tales, doctor who, whirlwind, etc.... if it didn't come with a topper it doesn't have to have one in my book. If you want them then that's cool. Some of them are sweet. Me? I only have so much cash for pinball so I have to pass on aftermarket toppers in lieu of buying project machines

#10 6 years ago

It's all in the eyes of the beholder. I'm a fan of toppers that look cool, and I pass on the ones that I don't dig. I'm not "for" or "against" them. It really depends...

Prime example: I bought the Governor's Fish Tank for my TWD. Looks cool as hell IMO. I love it. On the other hand, I passed on the Ghostbusters topper, because it's $500 and looks cheap to me - but again - to each their own.

#11 6 years ago

Love the KISS topper. You can land a jet with that thing. Original Whitewater is awesome. And the new Gorgar topper from Laseriffic is just killer! Makes me want to own a Gorgar.

#12 6 years ago

Fish tales was the best old school topper for me.The drunken clam topper for family guy is probably my favorite for newer ones.Favorable mentions must go out for the new gorgar and really like the last rob zombie I was able to get also!

#13 6 years ago

I'm addicted to factory toppers with or without it being on the correct game. Years ago they were just something more pinball to collect when going to different shows and guys would practically throw them at you to get rid of them. I have 35 toppers for games I'll never have in my collection. After market ones don't do anything for me though. Sorry Joe !!

John

Here's my Walking Dead topper (homemade). It's animated so that it looks like an orange/red fire is burning behind the fence and when gunshots happen on the playfield there is a white flash in the tower.

That's the hang up ... Due to summer holidays it's been a slow road! Randy at Colordmd is aware that the tap is being done, so that clears the path for the colorization of PM .. Fingers crossed

I loved the Dracula topper on my MB, but as I sold my MB, I had to say farewell to the topper as well. It was a bit difficult to find a spot for the topper on the pallet though, but I finally managed to find a free spot

I thought the original Darth Vader topper was kinda cheesy and I already had the mask. Falcon and X-wing were snap together models. I added Comet lights and flashers...

I found this Superman at Toys R' Us for $20. I think it's perfect, same era and all.

The other is the color changing ghost on my Mr. and Mrs. Pacman.

Still haven’t found a long sleeve red shirt to put on a Ken doll for DI but Im going to copy your idea for WOZ. Plan to make haunted forest trees with light up eyes and a YBR to fabricate a topper with these. I’ll accent light the dolls somehow and figure out a way to light up the 75th topper to display elsewhere.
