Everything associated with pinball is expensive....is $600 pricey for a topper....yep, but who really cares whether u paid $300 or $600....when u drop $9K (LE) on a game spending an extra $600 is nothing...my guess is they didn't make very many and it will become somewhat scarce therefore pricey in the long run

Quoted from metallik:

Some of us don't have thousands of dollars to toss around, are more frugal, and would enjoy a $600 project game much more than a simplistic flat-plastics topper.

People are frugal when they fork out $9K for a game site unseen? I don't think so...these people could probably give two shits about another $600. I'm not saying its worth the $600, but my guess is most don't care. I mean paying $550+ to play pebble beach isn't worth it either, but its booked a year out....its all relative

Quoted from Reznnate:

I can explain my frustration with this topper/thread quite simply... I WANT BETTER from Stern. As our first lady might say, Stern is not 'be best'.
When I compare the other games in my collection, the last several Stern LE's look like they should cost $5-6k.
I do understand anyone able to justify $9k on a recent stern can certainly justify a $600 plastic topper.

I think we all do, but they are what they are....until people stop buying or the market turns they'll keep on the same path....

Quoted from beelzeboob:

Maybe it's a language barrier thing. If you guys really think that what I said is bullying, we have differing ideas about what bullying it. I said that my opinion was that he was in the hobby for entirely the wrong reason, and that I don't like to be around people like that because they ruin the hobby for other people (like me) who are in the hobby because they love it...not for financial gain. But if you STILL think that's bullying, then I'm glad that there's an ocean separating us geographically, because there seems to be one idealistically as well. If either of you actually knew me personally rather than judging me from one Pinside post, you'd feel like a complete jackass for seeing how wrong you were. And that statement? Also not bullying.
Thanks to thelaw for being the voice of reason.

I would ignore as your post was perfectly fine....some people don't like hearing the truth

Quoted from GoodBadUgly:

Couple of days ago, on the Minneapolis Craigslist someone was looking for Ghostbuster topper and was willing to pay $1,200 for the topper. The ad is now gone. Over time, there could be a big enough demand for the older Stern toppers and people willing to pay top dollars for the toppers as they could be rare or hard to find. So folks buying $600 toppers today may able to sell them in the future for more than what they paid. I have feeling that these toppers are going hold there value and maybe go up in value as they become rare or hard to find. I'm under the assumption that the toppers will not be reissued by Stern in the future.

My bet is your correct...I will say it was pretty cool that they made a topper that actually interacted with game play...
