I’m working on a friend’s Meteor pinball. It’s really in good condition except it was stored for many years in a barn where the mice took it over for their residence. They dined on the wiring mostly, (seems they preferred green wire). I’ve replaced all the really bad wiring but there was still a bunch of places where they just took a bite or two. For those places I thought I’d try liquid electrical tape. It worked really good. I wouldn’t use it for large areas.

A few pieces of advice – it’s really messy so put a paper towel under your work area and don’t get it on you (you’ll ware it for a day or so).

Hope you find this tip handy.

As you stated, very small jobs ONLY.
Such as chewed insulation, but wires are fully intact.
Otherwise, trim and new connector or new wire gauge harness build.
The game shown requires a full connector rebuild and full repinning, so this looks like an applicable temporary fix for game testing functionality.

    Top tip?

Electrical tape kinda sucks in general. I don't think I would ever go buying a messy liquid form.

I use this stuff as added insulation for wires and braids that run uncomfortably close to the pop bumper metal frames. It is very messy.

I use it for butt-joins when repairing wiring, if it's impractical to get shrink tubing on there. Solder the two ends together and then paint the stuff on. Yeah not good for big jobs though

You can see the wires that the mouse destroyed to the left of the connector. Those wires I replaced. The connector itself was destroyed by man. Someone bypassed the connector and ran a red wire to the back of the board for each of the connectors. That probably took longer than replacing the crimp connectors. I have replaced the headers and the connectors.
