Ok from what I’m seeing here...90% of peoples favourite movies are pre 1995. That tells me the vast majority of peoples favourite movies were before then. The last 23 years have not been as good for producing great movies.

Hey Pinsiders - I come from a cyber security background and this topic is a computer hacker’s dream. Think about it. “What is your favorite movie?” is a common security question that many of you have answered in the past. Don’t make it easy for the bad guys.

Good choices. But, if we're listing the greatest TV shows of all time, The Wire is at the top of the list. To me, everything else pales in comparison.

LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Life Aquatic

Quoted from woody24:

Good news is that no one can ever remember what they've typed in those things. So the answers here are completely different than their security questions.

I wouldn’t be so sure. I know it sounds bad but look at everybody that has commented so far. Everyone has listed their home state or country. Some people use part of their real name as their user name and others use their birth year or both. These are huge mistakes. All this info is being given way for free. Forums like these are being used by the bad guys all the time. And for the record, favorite movie is one of the most popular security questions to answer when given a list to chose from. The other one is favorite team. If I already know you live in Minnesota there is a strong possibility your favorite team is the Vikings. So now the bad guy has 2 possible security question answers. If I know your name and you are litsted I can find your address. It is pretty easy to do. Now I just have to call the big banks. Odds are everybody uses a major bank. You just keep going down the list until you get the correct one. This recently happened to me. The only thing that saved me was the attacker didn’t have my correct security questions. I’m not try to bring anybody down. I just want you to be aware of what is happening in today’s world. It is sad but very true.

All the big companies I belong to must know that, haven't seen it as in option in many years.
I understand you're just trying to help but "network security the sky is falling guy" is sort of an old routine. No offense meant at all.

I’m glad you didn’t take a hit but your bank or bank’s insurance company did and the costs are paid by the customers in the end. So it does matter.

Just be careful is all I am saying. Cyber Security is a big part of my real job. This pinball thing is just a hobby gone wrong.

That's a hard one for me (easier to pick top 30). this is as much as tribute to my top 3-4 directors.

I'm picking movies that can be watched many times and have many memorable quotes, music and story/theme as well as great actors and to me most importantly great directors.

Funny I used to say Shawshank Redemption, Godfather, and Casablanca were my favorite movies. Then I realized what makes a favorite movie to me is one that is timeless and can be watched over and over again. Now I love Shawshank, but it is a movie that I can watch once every ten years or so-been there done that.

Now Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Batman Dark Knight, Beetlejuice, etc. are all timeless and by far the most watched over and over again. So they have become my favorites because they never get old-if that makes sense?

#96 5 years ago
