    Quoted from tamoore:

JM, for sure. NF is one that is a great game, neglected because of its theme. Mousin' Around isn't as much underrated, as it is largely unknown. Same with Radical!. Judge Dredd is seriously underrated. It's one of the better Williams pins of all time.

For some reason, JD really seems like a DE game to me. The style, crazy layout and toys, bunch of modes...

Indy 500 is on it's way up the charts. It has climbed from #52 to #41 in the last four months.

I've looked through the ranking for all 80s and 90s pins and none of them have climbed half as much as Indy 500 in recent months.

Something is going on with this title. And I only notice because I've got a Road Show that I am swapping for an Indy 500. When I arranged the swap earlier in the year, Road Show was ranked 41 and Indy 500 was 52, and I thought the other guy was getting a great deal. Now, four months later, they're neck and neck at 41! I better make the swap before Indy 500 gets too far ahead of it. I wonder where it will settle.

Indy 500 is a true player.

I still cry myself to sleep when I think about having sold mine.

    Bram STROKER underrated? ok.
Barb Wire yes, wow, now that is good.

Sorry, BW was supposed to indicate Baywatch. I would like to try a Barb Wire, though.

BSD only recently exploded in popularity; it was underrated when I bought it just a few years ago, and the price was nice! So it's in my top ten for sure.

AC/DC Pro. Here is quite possibly the greatest pin ever created and it toils along at #44 mainly because of a playfield decoration (the face) and the fact that there is a version with prettier lights.

i think it has more to do with the missing lower playfield, although i know guys that could do without that.

Monday Night Football from Data East is an awesome party pin. Trying to beat someone's football score is so much fun and requires a lot of strategy in picking out shots to gain the most yardage.

That's always confused me. The pro is better off without it. Do people actually like the mini-playfield on ACDC?

Edit: premium is still the better game despite the mini playfield.

Most wide body games, especially Superman, Embryon, and Paragon. These games get a bad rep cuz too many people have only played crappy, worn, weak-flippered ghosts of their previous selves. Before you rate these games, play one that's dialed in--they're things of beauty.

Is toss in Future Spa in that group too, it's a great player from that era.

Agreed about RBION--that is probably my favorite Stern of all time--totally underrated.

My favorite DE would probably be Star Wars or Apollo 13--both underrated.

And a real difficult machine, a real players game.

    Ditto. NIce list.

Laser War is a fun game with one heck of a light show for a game of its era. It was one of our first machines - I have almost sold it a half a dozen times and it keeps making it back into the collection before I list it for sale.

Pin-Bot and most system 11 machines are still way better machines then most people think and most are way under priced (but they are slowly catching up). Lots of Data East are the same way.

Shaq Attack - dollar per dollar one of the best deals in pinball.

Raven, Spring Break & Hard Bodies - get past the art work on those and they are all pretty decent machines for cheap. Not great titles but good machines that can still be bought for under $500

Bottom line is there are a ton on non DMD machines that are a great bang for your buck. I know a lot of people only look at DMD machines when talking about machines but dollar for dollar Data East and Williams System 11 machines are a better deal even with the current prices up on most of these now.

3 or 4 years ago I started buying every System 11 and Data East machine I could pick up at a reasonable price. I just didn't get why people were fighting over of the top 50 or so titles driving prices up to near crazy when I could buy 8 or 10 great System 11 machines for less than they we paying for one "A" list title.

The way I see it 80 to 90 % of pinball machines are pretty good if you give them a chance. There are a few dogs and a few that just don't have long term stay power in a collection. But I have only played a handful of machines I wouldn't love to own and most of those were likely crossed off my want list because I played them when they were not properly dialed in.

One mistake we made early on is playing machines that were not set up properly or "dialed in" and forming an opinion about them before we gave them a chance. NEVER play a title once that isn't 100% and decide if you like it. Be sure to play that same title properly dialed in and give it a chance before taking it off your want list.

A bad day of playing so-so machines is still better than a good day at work!

    All of mine!

Not many people see it or get a chance to play it but Gottlieb Robo-War is a blast!
Also has some awesome sounds,it sits next to my TX Sector!

Currently ranked #209 on the Pinside's Top 100 list and the most underrated pin IMHO is Avengers Pro.

Now, I was able to play an Avengers LE at California Extreme last year (I think it was Pinball Refinery's HULK game) and loved it! Since then I have not been able to play one until this week when I got a pro version for myself. This game rocks and is very hard. Some of the tightest shots I have seen on a game. It might be why it's rated so low, but this game does have a lot going on.

X-Men LE/Pro also got a bad rap in the beginning, but people are slowly waking up to see past all of the negative press and realize that it's one of Stern's better games ever! Highly underrated IMHO.

It annoys me that Pros and LE/Premiums are separate listings in the rankings. They are basically the same games! There can be a larger experiential difference between a routed and fully restored B/W game than there is between a NIB Pro and Premium Stern game.

There are 5 Pros in the Top 100, and they are effectively duplicate listings that have booted Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Last Action Hero, F-14 Tomcat, The Pinball Circus and Breakshot off the Top 100 list.

    #174 9 years ago

I played avengers at SFGE and enjoyed it!

Moral of story: make your own decision and realize the vocal majority may have a different opinion than you!

Do peeps really use the top 100 to evaluate trades like this?
