IT goes like this:
1. Whirlwind
2. Mousin'
3. Taxi
There are so many things that were revolutionary about these games, they pushed pinball towards creating modes, different types of multi ball in the same game, wizard modes, and pushed rules to a point where they essentially still sit today.
The correct balance of complexity and approachability comes together in these system 11 titles so magically. As far as complex and competitive 4 player machines, these 3 were at the top when they were new. Both WW and MA had a good compromise for addressing the stealing of locks and the standard jackpot fix on Taxi really makes it a lot better 4 player game.

All of these are all-time classics, one Lawlor, one Ritchie, one Oursler/Anghelo. Arguably the most important designers of the period.

You should have gone with top three System 9 games. It would have been a lot easier!

I didn’t quite get it either, at first. When I owned it the second time, it all clicked for me. Now I see the genius and it’s definitely in the last-one-to-leave slot out of my lineup.
I’m guessing anyone not putting Elvira on their list hasn’t play it. It has one of the best call outs in pinball history. I love it when Elvira says “nice organ”. Nothing sexual about that at all.

I've played it...just sooooo many greay sys11 pins! I had a hard time whittling it down to 3!
Technically this poll has already been done in real time by the Pinside Top 100. I believe the 3 highest rated sys 11 pins are Whirlwind, Elvira and Taxi. I can live with that.
