At league night a couple weeks ago, my group was brainstorming a bucket list of top (10) pinball venues to visit.
Top criteria included breadth of collection, quality of machines, and fun vibe (which is a little hard to qualify).

Any favorites from this list that I might have missed?
And any standouts that rise to the top for you?

Thanks for any feedback you care to contribute

    Sunshine Laundromat, Brooklyn NY
Silverball Museum Arcade, Asbury Park NJ
    Roanoke pinball museum, Roanoke, VA
    Asheville Pinball Museum, Asheville NC
Pennsylvania Coin-Op Gaming Hall of Fame, Hopewell PA
    PAPA World Headquarters, Pittsburgh PA
    Pinball Replay FX, Pittsburgh PA
    Pinball Gallery, Malvern PA
Ann Arbor Pinball Show & Musem (VFW), Ann Arbor, MI
    Pyramid Scheme, Grand Rapids MI
    Logan Arcade, Chicago IL
    1-Up, Denver, CO
    Pinballz Arcade, Austin TX
Pinball Hall of Fame, Las Vegas NV
    Seattle Pinball Museum, Seattle WA
    Add A Ball, Seattle, WA
    Pacific Pinball Museum, Alameda CA
    Museum of Pinball, Banning CA

I'm sad. SS Billiards didn't make the bucket list.

What could be a more fun vibe then me telling jokes about your mother ?

    LTG : (

Edited to include currently 22 pinball machines. I've been running it 46 3/4 years.

    Lyons Classic Pinball, Lyons, Colorado

and there are actually three 1-UP Locations in Denver now. For Pinball I would rank them:
    1UP Colfax
    1UP Greenwood Village
    1UP Lodo

    #6 4 years ago

I was not aware of Replay Museum here in my own state. Thanks, I will have to check it out. But by far the best place I have ever been to play pinball on the whole planet is The Pinball Palace in Brunswick, GA.

    100 pins on site

Music City Pinball is in the process of building something special. Should be ready in August or September.

    #9 4 years ago

Silverball Museum in Delray Beach, FL

    #10 4 years ago

Titletown, Depere Wi. 60 games in good working order and expanding soon.

    #11 4 years ago

Next Level in Hillsboro, Oregon. I've got my eye on airfares into PDX and when the price is right I'm heading out there to play for the weekend.

I'm not sure the 1Ups in Denver are "bucket list" worthy. While many people enjoy visiting them, they are a bar first, an arcade second, and pinballs are third.

Had high hopes going there. NOTHING was leveled. And it wasn’t a tiny bit. It made games unplayable.

The flooors in this place were messed up making leveling a nightmare. And a lot of games were a mess. Flippers not working. Things not right.

Def not worthy of top ten

There’s a place in Grandy NC called Flippers which is killer. Even a BBB!

Pinball Palace (freeplay museum) has a world class collection, specializing in newer "LE" titles from Stern, CGC, JJP, Spooky, but pins from every era as well. Always friendly and never a wait there.

My choices are mostly for the vibe as opposed to the number of machines.

Pokey's Pinball Cafe - Saskatoon, SK
    North Star - Montreal, QC
House of Targ - Ottawa, ON
    Shorty's - Seattle, WA
    PinBar - Calgary, AB

    Yes to Pacific Pinball Museum.

Also Free Gold Watch, San Francisco

    #28 4 years ago

    8bit arcade in Renton, WA
    The Triple knock, Tacoma, WA

Around 25 machines at both these places kept in decent condition.

    #29 4 years ago

Next Level in Hillsboro. Lots of great games, excellent condition, clean, and lots of room to move around.

    #30 4 years ago

    Next Level is incredible.

Also Dutch Pinball Museum if your open to traveling outside the US.

    #31 4 years ago

Haven’t seen Fort Wayne Pinball. About 70 machines in awesome condition.

    #32 4 years ago

    Silver ball Osaka

    #33 4 years ago

Helicon Brewery is probably the best public pinball location in Pennsylvania.

    #34 4 years ago

I was amazed at Cactus Jack’s in Oklahoma City. 50+ pins in immaculate condition. It felt like I was playing brand new Twilight Zone, Addams, Congo, Bride of Pinbot, Demolition man, etc. Even Eight Ball Deluxe looked pretty great. Good mix of old and new games.

Stopped by on a business trip and can’t wait to wind up in OKC again someday.

Here’s my rankings of the places I’ve been:

    1. Sunshine Laundry - Great atmosphere and the games are always in great shape. They also keep a high percentage of rare or LE games on site.
    2. Pinball Gallery - Malvern, PA - Very large selection of games from all eras. 95% of the games are always working.
    3. MOMs Organic Market - College Park, MD - Nice selection of games. Cool atmosphere since it’s hidden away in the back of a super market. Free coffee and tea at the customer service desk of the store.
    4. Cidercade - Dallas, TX - Great barcade with interesting alcoholic cider choices. Nice selection of games with most in great shape. There’s usually one or two that have problems. Wide variety of other games.
    5. Free Gold Watch - San Francisco, CA - Good selection with games in great shape.
    6. Railroad Bar and Grill - Linfield, PA - Not a great game selection, but they’re always in great shape. The beer selection is great. Just a real comfortable place to hangout and have a beer or two.
    7. Rock Fantasy - Middletown, NY - Good selection of games. Cool atmosphere.
    8. Padavan’s - St. Charles, MO - Smallish game selection, but they have beer which makes up for a limited amount of games.
    9. What’s Brewing - San Antonio - Good range of games from different eras. Good atmosphere with coffee shop feel makes it a comfortable place to hangout.
    10. Morristown Game Vault - Morristown, NJ - Not great, but it’s close to work if I want to play after I finish up for the day.

I go every year, just spent a few hours playing at flippers a couple of days ago! Pics of the current line up! The games that aren’t turned on are in the back room, you just have to run them on yourself. Lots of arcade games too and laser tag. The arcade is inside of a gas station.

Pins mechanical brewery in Dublin and Columbus! Great selection of pins at both locations, arcade games, duck bowling, table pong, pool, full bars, like an adult Disney land!!

I didn't feel like Pinballz in Austin was in any way special outside of the sheer number of games. More than half were broken or unleveled, and the atmosphere was pretty dull. I'm in Seattle though, so we're a bit spoiled.

The Retro Arcade in Sharon, PA is my favorite Western PA location. They keep their games pristine, and I have never been in there wishing that a flipper be replaced, a scoop fixed or a playfield cleaned. They have the most pristine set of pins that I have played.

There are between 45 and 50 pins there, including recent games from JJP, Stern, American Pinball, Spooky and CGC. Their collection is System 11 pins and newer. They are also the only location I am aware of in the area to have all JJP pins on location.

    #47 4 years ago

    Pinballz has three locations.
    Original
    Lake Creek
Pinballz Kingdom- (Buda, far south edge of Austin).
If your list is 'places you should make a special trip to go play' then none of them qualify. If you're in Austin anyway the original is worth a visit.
Pinballmap.com has current data for many Austin locations.
