I saw a post on a FB pinball group which said something about sexual assault or sexual misconduct by a main sponsor. Resulted is pulling of sponsor???

Anyone know what happened or allegedly happened?

    #2 49 days ago

    The post quoted here

“It has come to our attention that last night at a local Tacoma bar the owner of Nitro Pinball, one of our sponsors, behaved in a way that was not appropriate or acceptable towards women. His actions are unacceptable not just in the pinball and arcade community, but everywhere.

As a sponsor, Nitro Pinball had provided the NW Women’s Championship grand prize, a new pinball machine. The NW Pinball and Arcade Show board has voted to provide a cash option equal to the value of the grand prize pinball machine for the winner, funded by the show.

The Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show is a non-profit event, it’s tournaments and the entire show are put on by hundreds of volunteers, who spend tens of thousands of hours to make the show happen. We encourage you to enjoy the show and reap the benefits of all the hard work that has occurred in the past year to make this event happen.”

Tommy Floyd acted like Tommy Floyd. Classic Tommy!

Where's the Nitro brigade to blindly support him this time?

    Anyone know exactly what happened?

Sounds like it was admitted to and done in public.

I can tell right now that this has potential to be one horrible, painful Pinside thread that could reveal a lot of horrible things about a lot of horrible people. I beg of you...think before you post in this one. Please. For the love of god.

NWPAS doing a huge solid here, stepping up to replace the prize, which was a NIB game to the women's tournament winner. That's $6,000 out of their bottom line. They are a big show but that's still gotta hurt. I can't imagine having to deal with this bullshit on the eve of your show.

I am very glad this came to light and proud of the women he assulted for coming forward to make it publicly known what his character is. I hope she calls the police and files assault charges.

I just found the Fbook feed and he “apologized” and it made it ten times worse. The guy is obviously not sorry or unaware of his own actions and what that says about him.

We need to remove this from the pinball community.

Honestly, this is a time where manufacturers need to seriously consider pulling distributorship

Sad to see this. Sorry for the gal that this happened to especially. I am glad she was so strong to come out and let this be known. I have 2 little girls and I hope they follow this woman's example of standing up for herself. Thank you for being strong and powerful Erin. I do not know you but I am happy for this precedence being set.

Guys, being drunk is not an excuse to behave this way. Unacceptable behavior is unacceptable 100% of the time. Period.

I’m extremely sorry this happened. Being very intoxicated I thought it would be funny to throw her pinball game off by poking her butt. I’ve done this in the past to male players and we all had a good chuckle. This was totally inappropriate and Erin did the right thing by kicking me out.

What about offering her sponsorship in exchange for sex, have you offered that to your male friends too and had a good chuckle?

This is inappropriate regardless of if you did this to a female or a male.

I’m sure I said a lot of stupid things thinking I was being funny. It’s regrettable and was in extremely poor taste.

I’m sure I said a lot of stupid things thinking I was being funny. It wasn’t funny then, and it’s not funny now. I regret my behaviour and should have acted more professional. I can assure you, it won’t happen again.

    #17 49 days ago

I doubt it will happen again, since I doubt you'll be welcome at any pinball tournament in North America. This is a wonderful tight-knit community, and if some schmoe in Virginia who never heard of you before today knows about this, then the die is already cast.

    #18 49 days ago

i wish you would of touched me inappropriately prior to this event, you wouldn't of received a chuckle in return.

    #19 49 days ago

Disgusting. There is no excuse for this behavior with either sex. There is no recovery from this.

I hope the cops are coming for you. Seriously WTF!

    #21 49 days ago

If these accusations are true, this isn’t a “being banned from pinball,” situation, it’s a criminal case.

Innocent until definitively proven guilty, but this is disgusting.

If you read the Facebook comments, Bowen certainly was not surprised. He cited examples of prior behaviour from Tommy that align with this type of incident. Tommy's initial failure to apologize, and even worse, attempts to downplay the incident or blame booze, speaks volumes.

Have you guys seen the picture of her bloody arm? This guy should be in jail.

What a vomit's vomit. I noticed that 46 of my FB friends are friends with Tommy. I'm sharing Erin's post and hope that number drops to ZERO. Also encouraging NO ONE BUY FROM NITRO. There are better people to do business with.

It should be noted that as a business man, Tommy friend requested almost every pinhead out there, so don't read into the number of mutuals someone has.

The only way to sadly teach some people is with their pocketbook.

Glad to see so many making it clear they will not tolerate people like this in our community.

From a business perspective this is not a good image for Stern if they allow this guy to continue to sell games.
He was actually trying to wield his power as a stern distributor to leverage sex (sponsorship and games in exchange for favors by the sound of it)?

Just so proud of people that are able to come forward in these matters and I can’t image how tough it is.

    #32 48 days ago

I am so in awe of those women in coming forth under such pressure. There is no place for this anywhere, and to do it in a position of such power is hard to forgive.

The sponsorship comment was meant as a joke! Albeit a bad one. I’m extremely sorry for my behaviour.

    This isn't helping.
Do you even understand WHY it isn't funny?

    #37 48 days ago

Very interesting thread. I’m shocked this guy thought this behavior is “funny” or excusesd it because of being very intoxicated. Dude, I think you have an alcohol problem and need help. This behavior is not acceptable or excusable.

Next time remember this and don't drink that one beer.

I don’t know anything about that. She grabbed me by the arms and escorted me outside then shut the door. If there are nail marks it wasn’t intentional. Regardless it should never have happened. I take full responsibility.

Yup, he sent me a friend request at some point - but I deleted it. Even more reason to unfriend...he just added people to potentially make a buck, he’s not a real friend. Deleeeeete!
