I need some help (obviously since I'm posting here). I have all the flashers working except Flasher 5 (middle lamp in the attached picture). I can see that the wire comes from a driver board to the lamp and then goes to another lamp at the back of the playfield (they both flash together and currently neither are flashing). I don't see a loose connection and I'm not sure what to test. Can someone offer some suggestions? I have included a picture of the lamps at the top of the playfield and the driver board underneath (the White/Green is the one that seems to be the issue). I did note that there isn't a wire connecting to ground on that side of the driver board but I have compared with others and that doesn't seem to be abnormal.

looks like your missing one of the warming resistors no ?

#3 7 years ago

Single ground is OK as you suspected.

The warming resistor is actually still there (330 ohm, 7W - the physically smaller one is warming).

The voltage dropping resistor is missing. You need a 5 ohm, 10W resistor put back in the open spot.

Part number RC10W-5 at GPE www.greatplainselectronics.com

If you want to stock up on the warming resistors, they are part RC7W-330

Wow! Talk about missing the forest for the trees! I was looking for a loose wire and didn't notice the missing resistor (well, it's not missing anymore, I found it at the back of the machine with other old scary things). I've got some replacements on order so thanks very much! I'll let you know how things work out.

Yeah, very often the resistors heat up and melt right off the board falling to the bottom of the cabinet.

Very common on this machine for the resistors to come lose. This is the textbook example of a picture is worth 1000 words!

Maybe it's still good !

You can easily check it with a DMM.

Thanks guys, especially Schwaggs. Replaced the missing resistor and the flashers are now working fine! Now to tackle the top lights!

Congrats on the fix! Glad it was an easy one!
