I had this problem on TOM as well. In test mode it became clear that one of the optos was not registering and would spin forever (winding up the cable!!). I took it apart from the underside and simply cleaned all te pieces including the optos. I have not had a problem with trunk rotations since.

Give it a good cleaning and if you still have issues try to determine if one of the sets of optos has a bad tx or rx.

As for the eddy board from pinbits, it's an excellent board but it does not affect the trunk rotations. It only affects the calibration of the sensitivity to trunk hits. So if you're hitting the trunk and it registers your board is calibrated.
