Simple question (hopefully) but I just wanted to double check. I just replaced my trunk eddy board with an auto-eddy from Pinbits. The "Trunk opto-board with Leon integrated" is completely separate than the eddy board and will work just fine with the eddy from PinBits? Right? I should just get the "Trunk opto-board with Leon integrated" and call it a day, right? Sorry I just want to make sure that I get what I need (which would be just the Leon board) but since I like things to look "original" then the single board gives that "integrated" look.

Thanks.

Just found out that I am in the "ships today" batch... YAY!

I said it to Ingo already, but I will say it here again. This is a GREAT project, and I am very thankful for the efforts what went into this to make the boards happen. Can't wait to install it when I get it.

I placed my order and sent my money back on 01/06, right in the middle of the busy board assembly. Received my shipping information yesterday which was 01/18 (it was actually shipped a week ago on 01/12), and it just left the U.S. customs on 01/17. Hopefully it will make its way to me by the end of the week. Pretty good considering that I wasn't at the top of the list, and my board (plus any orders ahead of mine) still needed to be assembled. I am super happy with this process and can't wait to get the board here and installed.

I bet that Ingo and his wife are excited to get these all built

Here is my tracking details (sort of) from Ingo to Iowa just so people know how the timing pans out:
01/12/2016 - Shipped
01/12/2016 - Passed through Frankfurt Germany
01/16/2016 - Arrived at ISC (customs) in New York
01/17/2016 - Arrived from customs and departed New York USPS
01/21/2016 - Arrived at my local post office
01/21/2016 - Out for delivery. Yay! It should be waiting for me when I get home.

UPDATE: Boooo... No package. Just a slip from the postal service stating that I need to be home to sign for it. Went online and told them to hold it for me so that I can pick it up tomorrow or Saturday on my time, and not when they happen to stop by the house.

#433 8 years ago

And the USPS can't seem to find my package. Lovely. I went online and marked it for "pick up at post office" which was also what they checked on the notice that they left me (that it would be at the post office). I get there with all documentation and after 25 minutes, they just couldn't find it and didn't know where it was at. Governmental workers....

Yeah, after spending a while at the post office and getting nowhere, I signed the "delivery release" document while there. I went about my day and we headed out of town for a concert Friday night. We got back at 3am Saturday morning, and there was another stupid "we tried to deliver it" notice again? Seriously? Their 1st notice said that it was at the post office waiting for me, then I went to the web site listed on my notice, also marked it that I would pick it up, I get there with my paperwork and they agree that it should have been there, but lo and behind, it was out on the truck for delivery. The office just doesn't seem to have any clue as to what they are putting in the mail trucks apparently. So then Saturday comes, I sign the form again, and I leave it in my mailbox. I also go to the post office again. The guy at the post office says that once again it looks like it never went out, but also was showing "delivered." I got home another 20 minutes later and sure enough, there it was.

So I have it. It looks great, but I haven't had time to put it in since my only real chance would have been Saturday morning, but it didn't get to me until around 4pm Saturday night. I know it is a 5 minute fix, but I also want to take the trunk gear box out and clean/regrease the gears while I am at it.

Quoted from jsa:

Ah, the United States Postal Service. Not exactly fantastic with logistics, though lately they've been better out here in California. Stiff competition.
I recommend using carb cleaner to help with the removal of the old grease. I washed all the parts/gears thoroughly then applied Super Lube.

Yup. Already have the carb cleaner and a tube of Super Lube purchased and ready...

Finally got mine installed tonight. I started testing things out, and the trunk was acting all stupid. Stopping at wrong angles, stopping altogether (like what the Leon fix is supposed to fix), etc. I started taking video with plans of posting it after my troubleshooting. In the end, it was that the opto interrupter was a little crooked on the trunk shaft. It was in the right spot, but just not parallel to the board. I then looked closer and the opto interrupter is actually cracked (you can see it in the picture below). I guess that it is time to get a new one. Wasn't planning on another $35 part (mine is plastic, and I couldn't find any anywhere, and the metal ones should last longer anyway).

So it was leveled out, and is now working correctly despite the crack (FYI, the crack was there before I started tightening the set screw, but at first I thought that it was just a "flex cut" since the one side that I was looking at was fairly straight. Apparently not. Anyway, the board seems to work great. I didn't do the test that would cause the trunk to normally shut down, but will do that in a day or so (had to get cleaned up quick to go to dinner at the time). Anyway, another install picture....

Quoted from meSz:

Interestingly enough I noticed that the lights on the mirror on mine also was different once I installed the board! I didn't see anyone else post about it so I just figured it was me!

Quoted from msj2222:

ohh No, say it isn't so. anyone else having this issue?

Hmmmm.... After installing my board a while back, it seemed like the lighted marquee mirror wasn't as "active" as it was before. Of course, the only way to test this would be to remove the board and put the original back in, and then swap back out again (so that the trunk at least works)....

I am not saying that it is true, but before it seemed like the LED marquee lit mirror mod was much more active.
